Gnostic TranslationIo sono la vite vera e il Padre mio è l'agricoltore.

Greekπᾶν κλῆμα ἐν ἐμοὶ μὴ φέρον καρπὸν αἴρει αὐτό, καὶ πᾶν τὸ καρπὸν φέρον καθαίρει αὐτὸ ἵνα ⸂καρπὸν πλείονα⸃ φέρῃ.
Gnostic TranslationOgni tralcio che in me non porta frutto, lo taglia, e ogni tralcio che porta frutto, lo pota perché porti più frutto.
Orthodox ReadingEvery branchⓘ that bears no fruit in me, he cuts off; the fruitful one, he prunes itⓘ.

Greekμείνατε ἐν ἐμοί, κἀγὼ ἐν ὑμῖν. καθὼς τὸ κλῆμα οὐ δύναται καρπὸν φέρειν ἀφ’ ἑαυτοῦ ἐὰν μὴ ⸀μένῃ ἐν τῇ ἀμπέλῳ, οὕτως οὐδὲ ὑμεῖς ἐὰν μὴ ἐν ἐμοὶ ⸀μένητε.
Gnostic TranslationRimanete in me e io in voi. Come il tralcio non può portare frutto da se stesso se non rimane nella vite, così neanche voi se non rimanete in me.
Orthodox ReadingRemain in me and I in youⓘ. As the branch bears no fruit of itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither do you.

Greekἐγώ εἰμι ἡ ἄμπελος, ὑμεῖς τὰ κλήματα. ὁ μένων ἐν ἐμοὶ κἀγὼ ἐν αὐτῷ οὗτος φέρει καρπὸν πολύν, ὅτι χωρὶς ἐμοῦ οὐ δύνασθε ποιεῖν οὐδέν.
Gnostic TranslationIo sono la vite, voi i tralci. Chi rimane in me, e io in lui, porta molto frutto, perché senza di me non potete far nulla.
Orthodox ReadingI am the vine, you are the branchesⓘ. Whoever remains in me bears fruit in abundance; without me you can do nothingⓘ.

Greekκαθὼς ἠγάπησέν με ὁ πατήρ, κἀγὼ ⸂ὑμᾶς ἠγάπησα⸃, μείνατε ἐν τῇ ἀγάπῃ τῇ ἐμῇ.
Gnostic TranslationCome il Padre ha amato me, anche io ho amato voi. Rimanete nel mio amore.
Orthodox ReadingAs the Father has loved me, I have loved youⓘ. Remain in my loveⓘ.

Greekἐὰν τὰς ἐντολάς μου τηρήσητε, μενεῖτε ἐν τῇ ἀγάπῃ μου, καθὼς ἐγὼ ⸂τὰς ἐντολὰς τοῦ πατρός μου⸃ τετήρηκα καὶ μένω αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ ἀγάπῃ.
Gnostic TranslationSe osserverete i miei comandamenti, rimarrete nel mio amore, come io ho osservato i comandamenti del Padre mio e rimango nel suo amore.
Orthodox ReadingIf you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, as I have kept the Father's commandmentsⓘ.

Gnostic TranslationQuesto è il mio comandamento: che vi amiate gli uni gli altri come io ho amato voi.
Orthodox ReadingThis is my commandment: love one another as I have loved youⓘ.

Greekμείζονα ταύτης ἀγάπην οὐδεὶς ἔχει, ἵνα τις τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ θῇ ὑπὲρ τῶν φίλων αὐτοῦ.
Gnostic TranslationNessuno ha un amore più grande di questo: dare la sua vita per i propri amici.
Orthodox ReadingNo one has greater love than this: to lay down one's life for one's friendsⓘ.

Greekοὐκέτι ⸂λέγω ὑμᾶς⸃ δούλους, ὅτι ὁ δοῦλος οὐκ οἶδεν τί ποιεῖ αὐτοῦ ὁ κύριος· ὑμᾶς δὲ εἴρηκα φίλους, ὅτι πάντα ἃ ἤκουσα παρὰ τοῦ πατρός μου ἐγνώρισα ὑμῖν.
Gnostic TranslationNon vi chiamo più servi, perché il servo non sa quello che fa il suo padrone; ma vi ho chiamati amici, perché tutto ciò che ho udito dal Padre mio l'ho fatto conoscere a voi.
Orthodox ReadingI no longer call you servants, but friendsⓘ, for I have made known to you all that I have heard from the Father.

Greekοὐχ ὑμεῖς με ἐξελέξασθε, ἀλλ’ ἐγὼ ἐξελεξάμην ὑμᾶς, καὶ ἔθηκα ὑμᾶς ἵνα ὑμεῖς ὑπάγητε καὶ καρπὸν φέρητε καὶ ὁ καρπὸς ὑμῶν μένῃ, ἵνα ὅ τι ἂν αἰτήσητε τὸν πατέρα ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί μου δῷ ὑμῖν.
Gnostic TranslationNon voi avete scelto me, ma io ho scelto voi e vi ho costituiti perché andiate e portiate frutto e il vostro frutto rimanga.
Orthodox ReadingYou did not choose me, but I chose youⓘ and I have appointed you that you may go and bear lasting fruitⓘ.
