Ἄγουσιν οὖν τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἀπὸ τοῦ Καϊάφα εἰς τὸ πραιτώριον· ἦν δὲ πρωΐ· καὶ αὐτοὶ οὐκ εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὸ πραιτώριον, ἵνα μὴ μιανθῶσιν ⸀ἀλλὰ φάγωσιν τὸ πάσχα.
Condussero poi Gesù dalla casa di Caifa nel pretorio. Era l'alba ed essi non vollero entrare nel pretorio, per non contaminarsi e poter mangiare la Pasqua.
They lead Jesus, then, from the house of Caiaphas, of the high priests of the Temple summit (the archiereîs kohanim of the summit, of Sadducean extraction, the Saddoukaioi) — ⓘ to the ⓘ. It was ⓘ; and they did not enter the praetorium, so as not to contract the impurity of the pagan dwelling (tum'at ohel, the ritual impurity of the gentile habitation) — which would have required immersion (tevilah), precluding the meal — and to be able to eat the korban Pesach (the sacrificial paschal lamb) of the ⓘ.

ἐξῆλθεν οὖν ὁ Πιλᾶτος ⸀ἔξω πρὸς αὐτοὺς καὶ ⸀φησίν· Τίνα κατηγορίαν φέρετε ⸀κατὰ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τούτου;
Pilato dunque uscì verso di loro e domandò: «Che accusa portate contro quest'uomo?».
ⓘ went out, then, toward them and says: «What accusation do you bring against this man?».

ἀπεκρίθησαν καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ· Εἰ μὴ ἦν οὗτος ⸂κακὸν ποιῶν⸃, οὐκ ἄν σοι παρεδώκαμεν αὐτόν.
Gli risposero: «Se non fosse un malfattore, non te lo avremmo consegnato».
They answered and said to him: «If this man were not an ⓘ, we would not have handed him over to you».

εἶπεν οὖν αὐτοῖς ⸀ὁ Πιλᾶτος· Λάβετε αὐτὸν ὑμεῖς, καὶ κατὰ τὸν νόμον ὑμῶν κρίνατε αὐτόν. ⸀εἶπον αὐτῷ οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι· Ἡμῖν οὐκ ἔξεστιν ἀποκτεῖναι οὐδένα·
Allora Pilato disse loro: «Prendetelo voi e giudicatelo secondo la vostra Legge!». Gli risposero i Giudei: «A noi non è consentito mettere a morte nessuno».
Pilate said to them, then: «Take him yourselves and judge him according to your ⓘ». The ⓘ said to him: «It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death» — capital judgments (dinei nefashot) are withdrawn from us, reserved to the ius gladii of the prefect ⓘ.

ἵνα ὁ λόγος τοῦ Ἰησοῦ πληρωθῇ ὃν εἶπεν σημαίνων ποίῳ θανάτῳ ἤμελλεν ἀποθνῄσκειν.
Così si compivano le parole che Gesù aveva detto, indicando di quale morte doveva morire.
So that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled which he had said, ⓘ.

Εἰσῆλθεν οὖν ⸂πάλιν εἰς τὸ πραιτώριον⸃ ὁ Πιλᾶτος καὶ ἐφώνησεν τὸν Ἰησοῦν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Σὺ εἶ ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν Ἰουδαίων;
Pilato allora rientrò nel pretorio, fece chiamare Gesù e gli disse: «Sei tu il re dei Giudei?».
Pilate, then, entered the praetorium again, called Jesus and said to him: «ⓘ?».

⸀ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς· ⸂Ἀπὸ σεαυτοῦ⸃ σὺ τοῦτο λέγεις ἢ ἄλλοι ⸂εἶπόν σοι⸃ περὶ ἐμοῦ;
Gesù rispose: «Dici questo da te, oppure altri te l'hanno detto sul mio conto?».
Jesus answered: «ⓘ, or have others told you of me?».

ἀπεκρίθη ὁ Πιλᾶτος· Μήτι ἐγὼ Ἰουδαῖός εἰμι; τὸ ἔθνος τὸ σὸν καὶ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς παρέδωκάν σε ἐμοί· τί ἐποίησας;
Pilato disse: «Sono forse io Giudeo? La tua gente e i capi dei sacerdoti ti hanno consegnato a me. Che cosa hai fatto?».
Pilate answered: «Am I perhaps a ⓘ? Your ⓘ and the ⓘ have handed you over to me; what have you done?».

ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς· Ἡ βασιλεία ἡ ἐμὴ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου τούτου· εἰ ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου τούτου ἦν ἡ βασιλεία ἡ ἐμή, οἱ ὑπηρέται ⸂οἱ ἐμοὶ ἠγωνίζοντο ἄν⸃, ἵνα μὴ παραδοθῶ τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις· νῦν δὲ ἡ βασιλεία ἡ ἐμὴ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐντεῦθεν.
Rispose Gesù: «Il mio regno non è di questo mondo; se il mio regno fosse di questo mondo, i miei servitori avrebbero combattuto perché non fossi consegnato ai Giudei; ma il mio regno non è di quaggiù».
Jesus answered: «My kingship — the messianic malkhut — ⓘ; if my kingship drew its origin from this world, my ⓘ would have fought so that I might not be handed over to the ⓘ; but as it is, my kingship is not from here».

εἶπεν οὖν αὐτῷ ὁ Πιλᾶτος· Οὐκοῦν βασιλεὺς εἶ σύ; ἀπεκρίθη ⸀ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Σὺ λέγεις ὅτι βασιλεύς ⸀εἰμι. ἐγὼ εἰς τοῦτο γεγέννημαι καὶ εἰς τοῦτο ἐλήλυθα εἰς τὸν κόσμον ἵνα μαρτυρήσω τῇ ἀληθείᾳ· πᾶς ὁ ὢν ἐκ τῆς ἀληθείας ἀκούει μου τῆς φωνῆς.
Allora Pilato gli disse: «Dunque tu sei re?». Rispose Gesù: «Tu lo dici: io sono re. Per questo io sono nato e per questo sono venuto nel mondo: per dare testimonianza alla verità. Chiunque è dalla verità, ascolta la mia voce».
Pilate, then, said to him: «So you are a king?». Jesus answered: «ⓘ that I am a king. For this I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world: that I might ⓘ. Whoever is ⓘ hears my voice».

λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Πιλᾶτος· Τί ἐστιν ἀλήθεια; Καὶ τοῦτο εἰπὼν πάλιν ἐξῆλθεν πρὸς τοὺς Ἰουδαίους, καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Ἐγὼ οὐδεμίαν ⸂εὑρίσκω ἐν αὐτῷ αἰτίαν⸃·
Gli dice Pilato: «Che cos'è la verità?». E, detto questo, uscì di nuovo verso i Giudei e disse loro: «Io non trovo in lui colpa alcuna.
Pilate says to him: «ⓘ?». And having said this, he went out again toward the Judean leaders and says to them: «I ⓘ.

ἔστιν δὲ συνήθεια ὑμῖν ἵνα ἕνα ⸂ἀπολύσω ὑμῖν⸃ ἐν τῷ πάσχα· βούλεσθε οὖν ⸄ἀπολύσω ὑμῖν⸅ τὸν βασιλέα τῶν Ἰουδαίων;
Vi è tra voi l'usanza che io vi liberi uno per la Pasqua: volete dunque che vi liberi il re dei Giudei?».
There is, however, a ⓘ among you, that I release one of them to you for the Passover (Pesach), ⓘ; do you want, then, that I release to you the king of the Jews?».

ἐκραύγασαν οὖν ⸀πάλιν λέγοντες· Μὴ τοῦτον ἀλλὰ τὸν Βαραββᾶν. ἦν δὲ ὁ Βαραββᾶς λῃστής.
Allora essi gridarono di nuovo: «Non costui, ma Barabba!». Barabba era un brigante.
They cried out, then, again, saying: «ⓘ!». Barabbas was an ⓘ.
