Ἐγένετο ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ⸀Ἡρῴδου βασιλέως τῆς Ἰουδαίας ἱερεύς τις ὀνόματι Ζαχαρίας ἐξ ἐφημερίας Ἀβιά, ⸀καὶ γυνὴ ⸀αὐτῷ ἐκ τῶν θυγατέρων Ἀαρών, καὶ τὸ ὄνομα αὐτῆς Ἐλισάβετ.
Al tempo di Erode, re della Giudea, c'era un sacerdote di nome Zaccaria, della classe di Abia, che aveva in moglie una discendente di Aronne, di nome Elisabetta.
It came to pass in the days of ⓘ that there was a priest of the ⓘ named Zechariah ⓘ, of the ⓘ, and his wife was ⓘ, named ⓘ.

ἦσαν δὲ δίκαιοι ἀμφότεροι ⸀ἐναντίον τοῦ θεοῦ, πορευόμενοι ἐν πάσαις ταῖς ἐντολαῖς καὶ δικαιώμασιν τοῦ κυρίου ἄμεμπτοι.
Ambedue erano giusti davanti a Dio e osservavano irreprensibili tutte le leggi e le prescrizioni del Signore.
They were both ⓘ, walking in all the ⓘ.

καὶ οὐκ ἦν αὐτοῖς τέκνον, καθότι ⸂ἦν ἡ Ἐλισάβετ⸃ στεῖρα, καὶ ἀμφότεροι προβεβηκότες ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις αὐτῶν ἦσαν.
Essi non avevano figli, perché Elisabetta era sterile e tutti e due erano avanti negli anni.
They had no children, because Elizabeth was ⓘ, and both were advanced in their days.

Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ ἱερατεύειν αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ τάξει τῆς ἐφημερίας αὐτοῦ ἔναντι τοῦ θεοῦ
Avvenne che, mentre Zaccaria svolgeva le sue funzioni sacerdotali davanti al Signore durante il turno della sua classe,
It came to pass that while he was exercising the priesthood of the ⓘ in the order of his ⓘ before God,

κατὰ τὸ ἔθος τῆς ἱερατείας ἔλαχε τοῦ θυμιᾶσαι εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὸν ναὸν τοῦ κυρίου,
secondo l'usanza del servizio sacerdotale, gli toccò in sorte di entrare nel tempio del Signore per fare l'offerta dell'incenso.
according to the custom of the kohanim ⓘ to burn the ⓘ, having entered into the ⓘ,

καὶ πᾶν τὸ πλῆθος ἦν τοῦ λαοῦ προσευχόμενον ἔξω τῇ ὥρᾳ τοῦ θυμιάματος·
Fuori, tutta l'assemblea del popolo stava pregando nell'ora dell'incenso.
and the whole multitude of the people (am) was outside the Temple ⓘ at the hour of the ⓘ.

ὤφθη δὲ αὐτῷ ἄγγελος κυρίου ἑστὼς ἐκ δεξιῶν τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου τοῦ θυμιάματος.
Apparve a lui un angelo del Signore, ritto alla destra dell'altare dell'incenso.
An ⓘ appeared to him, standing at the right of the ⓘ.

καὶ ἐταράχθη Ζαχαρίας ἰδών, καὶ φόβος ἐπέπεσεν ἐπ’ αὐτόν.
Quando lo vide, Zaccaria si turbò e fu preso da timore.
Seeing him, Zechariah was troubled and fear fell upon him.
13
εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτὸν ὁ ἄγγελος· Μὴ φοβοῦ, Ζαχαρία, διότι εἰσηκούσθη ἡ δέησίς σου, καὶ ἡ γυνή σου Ἐλισάβετ γεννήσει υἱόν σοι, καὶ καλέσεις τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἰωάννην·
Ma l'angelo gli disse: «Non temere, Zaccaria, la tua preghiera è stata esaudita e tua moglie Elisabetta ti darà un figlio, che chiamerai Giovanni.
But the angel said to him: «ⓘ, for your supplication has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and ⓘ.

καὶ ἔσται χαρά σοι καὶ ἀγαλλίασις, καὶ πολλοὶ ἐπὶ τῇ ⸀γενέσει αὐτοῦ χαρήσονται·
Avrai gioia ed esultanza, e molti si rallegreranno della sua nascita,
And he will be joy and exultation to you, and many ⓘ.
15
ἔσται γὰρ μέγας ἐνώπιον ⸀τοῦ κυρίου, καὶ οἶνον καὶ σίκερα οὐ μὴ πίῃ, καὶ πνεύματος ἁγίου πλησθήσεται ἔτι ἐκ κοιλίας μητρὸς αὐτοῦ,
perché egli sarà grande davanti al Signore; non berrà vino né bevande inebrianti, sarà colmato di Spirito Santo fin dal seno di sua madre
For he will be great before the Lord: according to the nazirite vow (ⓘ) he will drink neither wine nor strong drink, and he will be ⓘ.

καὶ πολλοὺς τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραὴλ ἐπιστρέψει ἐπὶ κύριον τὸν θεὸν αὐτῶν·
e ricondurrà molti figli d'Israele al Signore loro Dio.
And many of the sons of Israel he will bring back into the ⓘ.

καὶ αὐτὸς προελεύσεται ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ ἐν πνεύματι καὶ δυνάμει Ἠλίου, ἐπιστρέψαι καρδίας πατέρων ἐπὶ τέκνα καὶ ἀπειθεῖς ἐν φρονήσει δικαίων, ἑτοιμάσαι κυρίῳ λαὸν κατεσκευασμένον.
Camminerà innanzi a lui con lo spirito e la potenza di Elia, per ricondurre i cuori dei padri verso i figli e i ribelli alla saggezza dei giusti, e preparare al Signore un popolo ben disposto».
And he will go before him ⓘ, to ⓘ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous, to prepare for the Lord a people made ready.

καὶ εἶπεν Ζαχαρίας πρὸς τὸν ἄγγελον· Κατὰ τί γνώσομαι τοῦτο; ἐγὼ γάρ εἰμι πρεσβύτης καὶ ἡ γυνή μου προβεβηκυῖα ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις αὐτῆς.
Zaccaria disse all'angelo: «Come potrò mai conoscere questo? Io sono vecchio e mia moglie è avanti negli anni».
And Zechariah said to the angel: «ⓘ? I am old and my wife is advanced in her days».

καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ ἄγγελος εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἐγώ εἰμι Γαβριὴλ ὁ παρεστηκὼς ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ, καὶ ἀπεστάλην λαλῆσαι πρὸς σὲ καὶ εὐαγγελίσασθαί σοι ταῦτα·
L'angelo gli rispose: «Io sono Gabriele, che sto al cospetto di Dio e sono stato mandato a parlarti e a portarti questo lieto annuncio.
And answering, the angel said to him: «I am ⓘ, who stand before God, and I have been ⓘ and to bring you this good tidings.

καὶ ἰδοὺ ἔσῃ σιωπῶν καὶ μὴ δυνάμενος λαλῆσαι ἄχρι ἧς ἡμέρας γένηται ταῦτα, ἀνθ’ ὧν οὐκ ἐπίστευσας τοῖς λόγοις μου, οἵτινες πληρωθήσονται εἰς τὸν καιρὸν αὐτῶν.
Ed ecco, tu sarai muto e non potrai parlare fino al giorno in cui queste cose avverranno, perché non hai creduto alle mie parole, che si compiranno a loro tempo».
And behold, you will be ⓘ until the day these things come to pass, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time».

Καὶ ἦν ὁ λαὸς προσδοκῶν τὸν Ζαχαρίαν, καὶ ἐθαύμαζον ἐν τῷ χρονίζειν ⸂ἐν τῷ ναῷ αὐτόν⸃.
Intanto il popolo stava in attesa di Zaccaria e si meravigliava per il suo indugiare nel tempio.
Meanwhile the people were waiting for Zechariah and marveling at his ⓘ.

ἐξελθὼν δὲ οὐκ ⸀ἐδύνατο λαλῆσαι αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἐπέγνωσαν ὅτι ὀπτασίαν ἑώρακεν ἐν τῷ ναῷ· καὶ αὐτὸς ἦν διανεύων αὐτοῖς, καὶ διέμενεν κωφός.
Quando poi uscì e non poteva parlare loro, capirono che nel tempio aveva avuto una visione. Faceva loro dei cenni e restava muto.
Coming out, he could not speak to them, and ⓘ in the Temple; he was making signs to them and remained mute.

καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἐπλήσθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι τῆς λειτουργίας αὐτοῦ, ἀπῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ.
Compiuti i giorni del suo servizio, tornò a casa.
And when the days of his ⓘ were completed, he returned to his house.

Μετὰ δὲ ταύτας τὰς ἡμέρας συνέλαβεν Ἐλισάβετ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ· καὶ περιέκρυβεν ἑαυτὴν μῆνας πέντε, λέγουσα
Dopo quei giorni Elisabetta, sua moglie, concepì e si tenne nascosta per cinque mesi e diceva:
After those days Elizabeth his wife conceived, and she kept herself hidden for five months, saying:
25
ὅτι Οὕτως μοι ⸀πεποίηκεν κύριος ἐν ἡμέραις αἷς ἐπεῖδεν ⸀ἀφελεῖν ὄνειδός μου ἐν ἀνθρώποις.
«Ecco che cosa ha fatto per me il Signore, nei giorni in cui si è degnato di togliere la mia vergogna fra gli uomini».
«Thus has the Lord done for me in the days when he looked upon me to ⓘ».
