Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐλθεῖν αὐτὸν εἰς οἶκόν τινος τῶν ἀρχόντων τῶν Φαρισαίων σαββάτῳ φαγεῖν ἄρτον καὶ αὐτοὶ ἦσαν παρατηρούμενοι αὐτόν.
Un sabato si recò a casa di uno dei capi dei farisei per pranzare ed essi stavano a osservarlo.
And it came to pass that, when he entered the house of one of the leaders of the Pharisees (perushim), the observant ones, on Shabbatⓘ to eat breadⓘ, they were watching him closely.

καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄνθρωπός τις ἦν ὑδρωπικὸς ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ.
Ed ecco, davanti a lui c'era un uomo malato di idropisìa.
And behold, before him there was a man who was dropsicalⓘ.

καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν πρὸς τοὺς νομικοὺς καὶ Φαρισαίους λέγων· ⸀Ἔξεστιν τῷ σαββάτῳ ⸂θεραπεῦσαι ἢ οὔ⸃;
Rivolgendosi ai dottori della Legge e ai farisei, Gesù disse: «È lecito o no guarire di sabato?».
And answering, Jesus said to the teachers of the Torah (soferim) and the Pharisees (perushim): «Is it lawful or not to heal on Shabbatⓘ?».

οἱ δὲ ἡσύχασαν. καὶ ἐπιλαβόμενος ἰάσατο αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπέλυσεν.
Ma essi tacquero. Egli lo prese per mano, lo guarì e lo congedò.
But they kept silentⓘ. He took him, healed him and sent him away.

⸀καὶ πρὸς αὐτοὺς εἶπεν· Τίνος ὑμῶν υἱὸς ἢ βοῦς εἰς φρέαρ ⸀πεσεῖται, καὶ οὐκ εὐθέως ἀνασπάσει αὐτὸν ⸀ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ σαββάτου;
Poi disse loro: «Chi di voi, se un figlio o un bue gli cade nel pozzo, non lo tirerà subito fuori in giorno di sabato?».
And he said to them: «Which of you, if a son or an ox falls into a well, will not at once pull it out on the day of Shabbatⓘ?».

καὶ οὐκ ἴσχυσαν ⸀ἀνταποκριθῆναι πρὸς ταῦτα.
E non potevano rispondere nulla a queste parole.
And they could not rebutⓘ these things.

Ἔλεγεν δὲ πρὸς τοὺς κεκλημένους παραβολήν, ἐπέχων πῶς τὰς πρωτοκλισίας ἐξελέγοντο, λέγων πρὸς αὐτούς·
Diceva agli invitati una parabola, notando come sceglievano i primi posti:
Then he was telling the guestsⓘ a parable, noting how they were choosing the places of honorⓘ:

Ὅταν κληθῇς ὑπό τινος εἰς γάμους, μὴ κατακλιθῇς εἰς τὴν πρωτοκλισίαν, μήποτε ἐντιμότερός σου ᾖ κεκλημένος ὑπ’ αὐτοῦ
«Quando sei invitato a nozze da qualcuno, non metterti al primo posto, perché non ci sia un altro invitato più degno di te,
«When you are invited to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, lest there be a guest more worthyⓘ than you,

καὶ ἐλθὼν ὁ σὲ καὶ αὐτὸν καλέσας ἐρεῖ σοι· Δὸς τούτῳ τόπον, καὶ τότε ἄρξῃ μετὰ αἰσχύνης τὸν ἔσχατον τόπον κατέχειν.
e colui che ha invitato te e lui venga a dirti: Cèdigli il posto! Allora dovrai con vergogna occupare l'ultimo posto.
and the one who invited both you and him come and say to you: Give him the place! And then in shame you will begin to take the lowest place.

ἀλλ’ ὅταν κληθῇς πορευθεὶς ἀνάπεσε εἰς τὸν ἔσχατον τόπον, ἵνα ὅταν ἔλθῃ ὁ κεκληκώς σε ⸀ἐρεῖ σοι· Φίλε, προσανάβηθι ἀνώτερον· τότε ἔσται σοι δόξα ἐνώπιον ⸀πάντων τῶν συνανακειμένων σοι.
Invece, quando sei invitato, va' a metterti all'ultimo posto, perché quando viene colui che ti ha invitato ti dica: Amico, vieni più avanti! Allora ne avrai onore davanti a tutti i commensali.
But when you are invited, go and recline at the lowest placeⓘ, so that when the one who invited you comes he may say to you: Friendⓘ, come up higher! Then you will have gloryⓘ before all the fellow guests.

ὅτι πᾶς ὁ ὑψῶν ἑαυτὸν ταπεινωθήσεται καὶ ὁ ταπεινῶν ἑαυτὸν ὑψωθήσεται.
Perché chiunque si esalta sarà umiliato, e chi si umilia sarà esaltato».
For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exaltedⓘ».

Ἔλεγεν δὲ καὶ τῷ κεκληκότι αὐτόν· Ὅταν ποιῇς ἄριστον ἢ δεῖπνον, μὴ φώνει τοὺς φίλους σου μηδὲ τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου μηδὲ τοὺς συγγενεῖς σου μηδὲ γείτονας πλουσίους, μήποτε καὶ αὐτοὶ ⸂ἀντικαλέσωσίν σε⸃ καὶ γένηται ⸂ἀνταπόδομά σοι⸃.
Disse poi a colui che l'aveva invitato: «Quando offri un pranzo o una cena, non invitare i tuoi amici né i tuoi fratelli né i tuoi parenti né i ricchi vicini, perché a loro volta non ti invitino anch'essi e tu abbia il contraccambio.
He also said to the one who had invited him: «When you give a luncheon or a dinnerⓘ, do not call your friends nor your brothers nor your relatives nor your rich neighbors, lest in turn they repay youⓘ and a repayment be made to you.

ἀλλ’ ὅταν ⸂δοχὴν ποιῇς⸃, κάλει πτωχούς, ἀναπείρους, χωλούς, τυφλούς·
Al contrario, quando offri un banchetto, invita poveri, storpi, zoppi, ciechi;
But when you give a banquetⓘ, call the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blindⓘ;

καὶ μακάριος ἔσῃ, ὅτι οὐκ ἔχουσιν ἀνταποδοῦναί σοι, ἀνταποδοθήσεται γάρ σοι ἐν τῇ ἀναστάσει τῶν δικαίων.
e sarai beato perché non hanno da ricambiarti. Riceverai infatti la tua ricompensa alla risurrezione dei giusti».
and you will be blessedⓘ because they have no way to repay you: it will be repaid to you at the resurrection of the justⓘ».

Ἀκούσας δέ τις τῶν συνανακειμένων ταῦτα εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Μακάριος ⸀ὅστις φάγεται ⸀ἄρτον ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ.
Uno dei commensali, avendo udito questo, gli disse: «Beato chi prenderà cibo nel regno di Dio!».
One of the fellow guests, hearing this, said to him: «Blessed is the one who will eat bread in the Kingdom of Godⓘ!».

ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἄνθρωπός τις ⸀ἐποίει δεῖπνον μέγα, καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πολλούς,
Gli rispose: «Un uomo dava una grande cena e fece molti inviti.
He said to him: «A man was giving a great dinnerⓘ and invited many.

καὶ ἀπέστειλεν τὸν δοῦλον αὐτοῦ τῇ ὥρᾳ τοῦ δείπνου εἰπεῖν τοῖς κεκλημένοις· Ἔρχεσθε, ὅτι ἤδη ἕτοιμά ⸀ἐστιν.
All'ora della cena, mandò il suo servo a dire agli invitati: Venite, è pronto.
And he sent his servantⓘ at the hour of the dinner to say to those invited: Come, for now it is readyⓘ.

καὶ ἤρξαντο ἀπὸ μιᾶς ⸂πάντες παραιτεῖσθαι⸃. ὁ πρῶτος εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἀγρὸν ἠγόρασα καὶ ἔχω ἀνάγκην ⸀ἐξελθὼν ἰδεῖν αὐτόν· ἐρωτῶ σε, ἔχε με παρῃτημένον.
Ma tutti, all'unanimità, cominciarono a scusarsi. Il primo gli disse: Ho comprato un campo e devo andare a vederlo; ti prego, considerami giustificato.
And they all, with one voice, began to make excusesⓘ. The first: I have bought a field and must go to see it; I beg you, hold me excusedⓘ.

καὶ ἕτερος εἶπεν· Ζεύγη βοῶν ἠγόρασα πέντε καὶ πορεύομαι δοκιμάσαι αὐτά· ἐρωτῶ σε, ἔχε με παρῃτημένον.
Un altro disse: Ho comprato cinque paia di buoi e vado a provarli; ti prego, considerami giustificato.
Another: I have bought five yoke of oxen and I am going to try them out; hold me excused.

καὶ ἕτερος εἶπεν· Γυναῖκα ἔγημα καὶ διὰ τοῦτο οὐ δύναμαι ἐλθεῖν.
Un altro disse: Mi sono appena sposato e perciò non posso venire.
Another: I have taken a wifeⓘ and for this reason I cannot come.

καὶ παραγενόμενος ὁ ⸀δοῦλος ἀπήγγειλεν τῷ κυρίῳ αὐτοῦ ταῦτα. τότε ὀργισθεὶς ὁ οἰκοδεσπότης εἶπεν τῷ δούλῳ αὐτοῦ· Ἔξελθε ταχέως εἰς τὰς πλατείας καὶ ῥύμας τῆς πόλεως, καὶ τοὺς πτωχοὺς καὶ ἀναπείρους καὶ ⸂τυφλοὺς καὶ χωλοὺς⸃ εἰσάγαγε ὧδε.
Al suo ritorno il servo riferì tutto questo al padrone. Allora il padrone di casa, adirato, disse al servo: Esci subito per le piazze e per le vie della città e conduci qui i poveri, gli storpi, i ciechi e gli zoppi.
And having returned, the servant reported this to his lord. Then the master of the houseⓘ, in anger, said to the servant: Go out at once into the squares and streets of the city and bring here the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lameⓘ.

καὶ εἶπεν ὁ δοῦλος· Κύριε, γέγονεν ⸀ὃ ἐπέταξας, καὶ ἔτι τόπος ἐστίν.
Il servo disse: Signore, è stato fatto come hai ordinato, ma c'è ancora posto.
And the servant said: Lordⓘ, it has been done as you ordered, and there is still room.

καὶ εἶπεν ὁ κύριος πρὸς τὸν δοῦλον· Ἔξελθε εἰς τὰς ὁδοὺς καὶ φραγμοὺς καὶ ἀνάγκασον εἰσελθεῖν, ἵνα γεμισθῇ ⸂μου ὁ οἶκος⸃·
Il padrone allora disse al servo: Esci per le strade e lungo le siepi e costringili a entrare, perché la mia casa si riempia.
And the lord said to the servant: Go out into the roads and along the hedgesⓘ and compel them to come inⓘ, so that my house may be filled.

λέγω γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδεὶς τῶν ἀνδρῶν ἐκείνων τῶν κεκλημένων γεύσεταί μου τοῦ ⸀δείπνου.
Perché io vi dico: nessuno di quegli uomini che erano stati invitati gusterà la mia cena».
For I tell you that none of those invited menⓘ will taste my dinner».
