Orthodox Reading«Let us be! What have you to do with usⓘ, Jesus the Nazarene? Have you come to destroy usⓘ? I know who you are: the Holy One of Godⓘ!».

Greekκαὶ ἐπετίμησεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς λέγων· Φιμώθητι καὶ ἔξελθε ⸀ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ. καὶ ῥίψαν αὐτὸν τὸ δαιμόνιον εἰς ⸀τὸ μέσον ἐξῆλθεν ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ μηδὲν βλάψαν αὐτόν.
Orthodox ReadingJesus rebuked him sternly: «Be silentⓘ! Come out of him!». And the demon threw him down in the midst of the people and came out of him, without doing him any harmⓘ.

Orthodox ReadingDemons also came out of many, crying: «You are the Son of Godⓘ!». But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christⓘ.

GreekΓενομένης δὲ ἡμέρας ἐξελθὼν ἐπορεύθη εἰς ἔρημον τόπον· καὶ οἱ ὄχλοι ἐπεζήτουν αὐτόν, καὶ ἦλθον ἕως αὐτοῦ, καὶ κατεῖχον αὐτὸν τοῦ μὴ πορεύεσθαι ἀπ’ αὐτῶν.
Orthodox ReadingAt daybreak he went out and withdrew to a deserted place. But the crowds of am ha-aretz (the common people, not bound to the rabbinic schools) soughtⓘ him, reached him, and tried to keep him from leaving them.
