Καὶ ὄντος τοῦ Πέτρου ⸂κάτω ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ⸃ ἔρχεται μία τῶν παιδισκῶν τοῦ ἀρχιερέως,
Mentre Pietro era giù nel cortile, venne una delle giovani serve del sommo sacerdote
And as Peterⓘ was down in the courtyardⓘ, one of the young servant-girls of the kohen gadolⓘ comes,

καὶ ἰδοῦσα τὸν Πέτρον θερμαινόμενον ἐμβλέψασα αὐτῷ λέγει· Καὶ σὺ μετὰ τοῦ Ναζαρηνοῦ ⸂ἦσθα τοῦ Ἰησοῦ⸃·
e, vedendo Pietro che si scaldava, lo guardò e disse: «Anche tu eri con il Nazareno, con Gesù».
and, seeing Peter warming himselfⓘ, she looked intently at him and says: «You too were with the Nazareneⓘ, Jesus».

ὁ δὲ ἠρνήσατο λέγων· ⸂Οὔτε οἶδα οὔτε ἐπίσταμαι σὺ τί⸃ λέγεις, καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἔξω εἰς τὸ προαύλιον ⸂καὶ ἀλέκτωρ ἐφώνησεν⸃.
Ma egli negò dicendo: «Non so e non capisco che cosa dici». Poi uscì fuori, verso l'ingresso, e un gallo cantò.
But he deniedⓘ saying: «I neither know nor understand what you are saying». And he went out toward the proaúlionⓘ, and a cock crowedⓘ.

καὶ ἡ παιδίσκη ἰδοῦσα αὐτὸν ⸂ἤρξατο πάλιν⸃ λέγειν τοῖς ⸀παρεστῶσιν ὅτι Οὗτος ἐξ αὐτῶν ἐστιν.
E la serva, vedutolo, ricominciò a dire ai presenti: «Costui è uno di loro».
And the servant-girlⓘ, seeing him, began again to say to the bystandersⓘ: «This man is one of them».

ὁ δὲ πάλιν ἠρνεῖτο. καὶ μετὰ μικρὸν πάλιν οἱ παρεστῶτες ἔλεγον τῷ Πέτρῳ· Ἀληθῶς ἐξ αὐτῶν εἶ, καὶ γὰρ Γαλιλαῖος εἶ ⸂καὶ ἡ λαλιά σου ὁμοιάζει⸃·
Ma egli di nuovo negava. Poco dopo i presenti dicevano di nuovo a Pietro: «Davvero sei uno di loro; infatti sei Galileo».
But he again deniedⓘ. And a little later the bystanders again said to Peter: «Truly you are one of them: and indeed you are a Galileanⓘ»,

ὁ δὲ ἤρξατο ἀναθεματίζειν καὶ ὀμνύναι ὅτι Οὐκ οἶδα τὸν ἄνθρωπον τοῦτον ὃν λέγετε.
Ma egli cominciò a imprecare e a giurare: «Non conosco quest'uomo di cui parlate».
and he began to curse and to swearⓘ: «I do not know this man you are speaking of».

καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ἐκ δευτέρου ἀλέκτωρ ἐφώνησεν· καὶ ἀνεμνήσθη ὁ Πέτρος τὸ ῥῆμα ⸀ὡς εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι Πρὶν ἀλέκτορα ⸂φωνῆσαι δὶς τρίς με ἀπαρνήσῃ⸃, καὶ ἐπιβαλὼν ἔκλαιεν.
E subito, per la seconda volta, un gallo cantò. E Pietro si ricordò della parola che Gesù gli aveva detto: «Prima che il gallo canti due volte, tu mi rinnegherai tre volte». E scoppiò in pianto.
And immediately, for the second timeⓘ, a cock crowed; and Peter remembered the wordⓘ as Jesus had said to him: «Before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times». And, having thrown himself downⓘ, he weptⓘ, an antidote to every apostolic triumphalismⓘ.
