The soldiersⓘ led him away into the courtyard, which is the praetoriumⓘ, and they call together the whole cohortⓘ.
17
And they clothe him in purpleⓘ and put on him, woven together, a crown of thorns;
18
«Salve, re dei Giudei!».
and they began to salute him: «Hail, king of the Jewsⓘ!».
19
And they kept striking his head with a reedⓘ and spat on him, and bending their knees they prostrated themselves before himⓘ.
20
Poi lo condussero fuori per crocifiggerlo.
And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the purple and clothed him again in his own garments. And they lead him out to crucify him.
21
And they compel into requisitionⓘ a certain man who was passing by, Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and of Rufusⓘ, who was coming from the country, to carry his cross.
22
And they bring him to the place Golgothaⓘ, which translated is «place of the skull».
23
And they were giving him wine mixed with myrrhⓘ, but he did not take it.
24
And they crucify him, and they divide his garments, casting lotsⓘ over them, who should take what.
25
It was the third hourⓘ when they crucified him.
26
And the inscription of the chargeⓘ of his condemnation read: «The king of the Jews».
27
And with him they crucify two armed rebels (biryonim)ⓘ, one at his right and one at his left.
29
And the passers-by were blaspheming himⓘ, shaking their heads and saying: «Aha, you who destroy the Templeⓘ and rebuild it in three days,
30
salva te stesso scendendo dalla croce!».
save yourself by coming down from the cross!».
31
In the same way the kohanim of the temple summit (archiereîs)ⓘ too, mocking him among themselves together with the scribes (soferim)ⓘ, were saying: «Others he has saved, himself he cannot save;
32
let the Messiah, the king of Israelⓘ come down now from the cross, that we may see and believeⓘ!». And those also crucified with himⓘ were reviling him.
