Καὶ ἐγένετο ⸂αὐτὸν ἐν τοῖς σάββασιν παραπορεύεσθαι⸃ διὰ τῶν σπορίμων, καὶ ⸂οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἤρξαντο⸃ ὁδὸν ποιεῖν τίλλοντες τοὺς στάχυας.
Avvenne che di sabato Gesù passava fra campi di grano e i suoi discepoli, camminando, si misero a cogliere le spighe.
And it happened that on the Sabbathⓘ he was passing through the grainfields, and his disciplesⓘ, making their wayⓘ, began to pluck the ears of grainⓘ, a gesture disputed as to whether it falls under the melakhah melakhahⓘ of reaping.

καὶ οἱ Φαρισαῖοι ἔλεγον αὐτῷ· Ἴδε τί ⸀ποιοῦσιν τοῖς σάββασιν ὃ οὐκ ἔξεστιν;
I farisei gli dicevano: «Guarda! Perché fanno in giorno di sabato quello che non è lecito?».
And the Pharisees (perushim, observant of the oral Torah) objectedⓘ: «Behold, why do they do on the Sabbath what is not lawfulⓘ?».

καὶ ⸀λέγει αὐτοῖς· Οὐδέποτε ἀνέγνωτε τί ἐποίησεν Δαυὶδ ὅτε χρείαν ἔσχεν καὶ ἐπείνασεν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ μετ’ αὐτοῦ;
Ed egli rispose loro: «Non avete mai letto quello che fece Davide quando si trovò nel bisogno e lui e i suoi compagni ebbero fame?
And he says to them: «Have you never readⓘ what Davidⓘ did, when he had need and was hungry, he and those with him?

⸀πῶς εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπὶ Ἀβιαθὰρ ἀρχιερέως καὶ τοὺς ἄρτους τῆς προθέσεως ἔφαγεν, οὓς οὐκ ἔξεστιν φαγεῖν εἰ μὴ ⸂τοὺς ἱερεῖς⸃, καὶ ἔδωκεν καὶ τοῖς σὺν αὐτῷ οὖσιν;
Sotto il sommo sacerdote Abiatàr, entrò nella casa di Dio e mangiò i pani dell'offerta, che non è lecito mangiare se non ai sacerdoti, e ne diede anche ai suoi compagni!».
How he entered the house of God, under the archiereis Abiatharⓘ, ate the bread of the Presenceⓘ, forbidden to anyone except the kohanim, and gave some to those with him?

καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· Τὸ σάββατον διὰ τὸν ἄνθρωπον ἐγένετο ⸀καὶ οὐχ ὁ ἄνθρωπος διὰ τὸ σάββατον·
E diceva loro: «Il sabato è stato fatto per l'uomo e non l'uomo per il sabato!
And he said to them: «The Sabbath was made for manⓘ, not man for itⓘ.

ὥστε κύριός ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου καὶ τοῦ σαββάτου.
Perciò il Figlio dell'uomo è signore anche del sabato».
So that lordⓘ of the Sabbath is also the Son of Manⓘ».
