Greekδιὰ τὸ αὐτὸν πολλάκις πέδαις καὶ ἁλύσεσι δεδέσθαι καὶ διεσπάσθαι ὑπ’ αὐτοῦ τὰς ἁλύσεις καὶ τὰς πέδας συντετρῖφθαι, καὶ οὐδεὶς ⸂ἴσχυεν αὐτὸν⸃ δαμάσαι·
Orthodox Readingbecause many times he had been bound with fetters and chainsⓘ, but he had snapped the chains and shattered the fetters, and no one had the strength to subdue him.

Greekκαὶ ἐπέτρεψεν ⸀αὐτοῖς. καὶ ἐξελθόντα τὰ πνεύματα τὰ ἀκάθαρτα εἰσῆλθον εἰς τοὺς χοίρους, καὶ ὥρμησεν ἡ ἀγέλη κατὰ τοῦ κρημνοῦ εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν, ⸀ὡς δισχίλιοι, καὶ ἐπνίγοντο ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ.
Orthodox ReadingHe permitted it. And the impure spirits, having come out, entered into the swine, and the herd rushed down along the precipiceⓘ into the sea, about two thousandⓘ, and they were drowning.

Greek⸀καὶ οὐκ ἀφῆκεν αὐτόν, ἀλλὰ λέγει αὐτῷ· Ὕπαγε εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου πρὸς τοὺς σούς, καὶ ⸀ἀπάγγειλον αὐτοῖς ὅσα ⸂ὁ κύριός σοι⸃ πεποίηκεν καὶ ἠλέησέν σε.
Orthodox ReadingHe did not permit it, but says to him: «Go to your house (beit avⓘ), to your own, and announceⓘ to them how much the Lord has done for youⓘ and the mercy he has shown you».

Greekκαὶ ἀπῆλθεν καὶ ἤρξατο κηρύσσειν ἐν τῇ Δεκαπόλει ὅσα ἐποίησεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς, καὶ πάντες ἐθαύμαζον.
Orthodox ReadingAnd he went off and began to proclaim throughout the Decapolisⓘ how much Jesus had done for him, and all were amazed.
