Καὶ ἦλθον εἰς τὸ πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης εἰς τὴν χώραν τῶν ⸀Γερασηνῶν.
Giunsero all'altra riva del mare, nella regione dei Gerasèni.
They came to the other shore of the seaⓘ, into the region of the Gerasenesⓘ.

καὶ ⸂ἐξελθόντος αὐτοῦ⸃ ἐκ τοῦ πλοίου ⸂εὐθὺς ὑπήντησεν⸃ αὐτῷ ἐκ τῶν μνημείων ἄνθρωπος ἐν πνεύματι ἀκαθάρτῳ,
Sceso dalla barca, subito gli venne incontro dai sepolcri un uomo posseduto da uno spirito impuro.
As he was coming out (exelthóntosⓘ) of the boat, immediately there came to meet him (hypéntēsenⓘ) from the tombsⓘ a man in an impure spiritⓘ,

ὃς τὴν κατοίκησιν εἶχεν ἐν τοῖς μνήμασιν, καὶ ⸂οὐδὲ ἁλύσει οὐκέτι⸃ οὐδεὶς ἐδύνατο αὐτὸν δῆσαι
Costui aveva la sua dimora fra i sepolcri e nessuno riusciva a tenerlo legato, neanche con catene,
who had his dwelling among the tombs, and no one was able to bind him any longer even with chains,

διὰ τὸ αὐτὸν πολλάκις πέδαις καὶ ἁλύσεσι δεδέσθαι καὶ διεσπάσθαι ὑπ’ αὐτοῦ τὰς ἁλύσεις καὶ τὰς πέδας συντετρῖφθαι, καὶ οὐδεὶς ⸂ἴσχυεν αὐτὸν⸃ δαμάσαι·
perché più volte era stato legato con ceppi e catene, ma aveva spezzato le catene e frantumato i ceppi, e nessuno riusciva a domarlo.
because many times he had been bound with fetters and chainsⓘ, but he had snapped the chains and shattered the fetters, and no one had the strength to subdue him.

καὶ διὰ παντὸς νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας ἐν τοῖς ⸂μνήμασιν καὶ ἐν τοῖς ὄρεσιν⸃ ἦν κράζων καὶ κατακόπτων ἑαυτὸν λίθοις.
Continuamente, notte e giorno, fra i sepolcri e sui monti, gridava e si percuoteva con pietre.
Night and day, among the tombs and on the mountains, he was crying out and cutting himself with stonesⓘ.

⸂καὶ ἰδὼν⸃ τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἔδραμεν καὶ προσεκύνησεν ⸀αὐτόν,
Visto Gesù da lontano, accorse, gli si prostrò davanti
Having seen Jesus from afar he ran up and prostrated himself before him (proskýnēsisⓘ),

καὶ κράξας φωνῇ μεγάλῃ ⸀λέγει· Τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί, Ἰησοῦ υἱὲ τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ὑψίστου; ὁρκίζω σε τὸν θεόν, μή με βασανίσῃς.
e, urlando a gran voce, disse: «Che vuoi da me, Gesù, Figlio del Dio altissimo? Ti scongiuro, in nome di Dio, non tormentarmi!».
and crying out with a loud voice he says: «What to me and to youⓘ, Jesus, Son of the Most High Godⓘ? I adjure you (horkízōⓘ) by God, do not torment me!».

ἔλεγεν γὰρ αὐτῷ· Ἔξελθε τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἀκάθαρτον ἐκ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου.
Gli diceva infatti: «Esci, spirito impuro, da quest'uomo!».
For he was saying to him: «Come out, impure spirit, from this man!».

καὶ ἐπηρώτα αὐτόν· Τί ⸂ὄνομά σοι⸃; καὶ ⸂λέγει αὐτῷ⸃· ⸀Λεγιὼν ὄνομά μοι, ὅτι πολλοί ἐσμεν·
E gli domandava: «Qual è il tuo nome?». «Il mio nome è Legione - gli rispose - perché siamo in molti».
And he was asking him: «What is your nameⓘ?». And he says to him: «Legionⓘ is my name, because we are many».

καὶ παρεκάλει αὐτὸν πολλὰ ἵνα μὴ ⸀αὐτὰ ἀποστείλῃ ἔξω τῆς χώρας.
E lo scongiurava con insistenza perché non li cacciasse fuori dalla regione.
And he was adjuring him that the impure spirits (ruchot tum'ah)ⓘ not be cast out of the regionⓘ.

ἦν δὲ ἐκεῖ πρὸς τῷ ὄρει ἀγέλη χοίρων μεγάλη βοσκομένη·
C'era là, sul monte, una numerosa mandria di porci al pascolo.
There, by the mountain, was a great herd of swineⓘ at pasture.

καὶ παρεκάλεσαν ⸀αὐτὸν λέγοντες· Πέμψον ἡμᾶς εἰς τοὺς χοίρους, ἵνα εἰς αὐτοὺς εἰσέλθωμεν.
E lo scongiurarono: «Mandaci da quei porci, perché entriamo in essi».
And they adjured him: «Send us into those swine, that we may enter into them».

καὶ ἐπέτρεψεν ⸀αὐτοῖς. καὶ ἐξελθόντα τὰ πνεύματα τὰ ἀκάθαρτα εἰσῆλθον εἰς τοὺς χοίρους, καὶ ὥρμησεν ἡ ἀγέλη κατὰ τοῦ κρημνοῦ εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν, ⸀ὡς δισχίλιοι, καὶ ἐπνίγοντο ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ.
Glielo permise. E gli spiriti impuri, dopo essere usciti, entrarono nei porci e la mandria si precipitò giù dal burrone nel mare; erano circa duemila e affogarono.
He permitted it. And the impure spirits, having come out, entered into the swine, and the herd rushed down along the precipiceⓘ into the sea, about two thousandⓘ, and they were drowning.

⸀καὶ οὐκ ἀφῆκεν αὐτόν, ἀλλὰ λέγει αὐτῷ· Ὕπαγε εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου πρὸς τοὺς σούς, καὶ ⸀ἀπάγγειλον αὐτοῖς ὅσα ⸂ὁ κύριός σοι⸃ πεποίηκεν καὶ ἠλέησέν σε.
Va' nella tua casa, dai tuoi, annuncia loro ciò che il Signore ti ha fatto e la misericordia che ti ha usato.
He did not permit it, but says to him: «Go to your house (beit avⓘ), to your own, and announceⓘ to them how much the Lord has done for youⓘ and the mercy he has shown you».

καὶ ἀπῆλθεν καὶ ἤρξατο κηρύσσειν ἐν τῇ Δεκαπόλει ὅσα ἐποίησεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς, καὶ πάντες ἐθαύμαζον.
Egli se ne andò e si mise a proclamare per la Decàpoli quello che Gesù aveva fatto per lui, e tutti erano meravigliati.
And he went off and began to proclaim throughout the Decapolisⓘ how much Jesus had done for him, and all were amazed.
