Καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος τὸν ὄχλον σὺν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· ⸂Εἴ τις⸃ θέλει ὀπίσω μου ⸀ἐλθεῖν, ἀπαρνησάσθω ἑαυτὸν καὶ ἀράτω τὸν σταυρὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀκολουθείτω μοι.
Convocata la folla insieme ai suoi discepoli, disse loro: «Se qualcuno vuol venire dietro a me, rinneghi se stesso, prenda la sua croce e mi segua.
And, having summonedⓘ the crowd together with his disciplesⓘ, he said to them: «If anyone wishes to come after meⓘ, let him deny himselfⓘ, take up his crossⓘ and followⓘ me.

ὃς γὰρ ⸀ἐὰν θέλῃ τὴν ⸂ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ⸃ σῶσαι ἀπολέσει αὐτήν· ὃς δ’ ἂν ⸀ἀπολέσει τὴν ⸄ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ⸅ ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ καὶ τοῦ εὐαγγελίου ⸀σώσει αὐτήν.
Perché chi vuole salvare la propria vita, la perderà; ma chi perderà la propria vita per causa mia e del Vangelo, la salverà.
Whoever wishes to save his own nefesh (the life, the living person) will lose it; whoever loses it for my sake and the gospel's will save itⓘ.

τί γὰρ ⸀ὠφελεῖ ⸀ἄνθρωπον ⸂κερδῆσαι τὸν κόσμον ὅλον καὶ ζημιωθῆναι⸃ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ;
Infatti quale vantaggio c'è che un uomo guadagni il mondo intero e perda la propria vita?
What profitⓘ is it for a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his own lifeⓘ?

⸂τί γὰρ⸃ ⸀δοῖ ἄνθρωπος ἀντάλλαγμα τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτοῦ;
Che cosa potrebbe dare un uomo in cambio della propria vita?
What would a man give in exchange for his own lifeⓘ?

ὃς γὰρ ἐὰν ἐπαισχυνθῇ με καὶ τοὺς ἐμοὺς λόγους ἐν τῇ γενεᾷ ταύτῃ τῇ μοιχαλίδι καὶ ἁμαρτωλῷ, καὶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐπαισχυνθήσεται αὐτὸν ὅταν ἔλθῃ ἐν τῇ δόξῃ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ μετὰ τῶν ἀγγέλων τῶν ἁγίων.
Chi si vergognerà di me e delle mie parole davanti a questa generazione adultera e peccatrice, anche il Figlio dell'uomo si vergognerà di lui quando verrà nella gloria del Padre suo con gli angeli santi».
Whoever is ashamed of me and of my wordsⓘ in this adulterous and sinful generationⓘ, of him also will the Son of Man (Bar Enash)ⓘ be ashamed when he comes in the glory (kavod) of his Fatherⓘ with the holy angelsⓘ».
