Τότε προσέρχονται τῷ ⸀Ἰησοῦ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων ⸂Φαρισαῖοι καὶ γραμματεῖς⸃ λέγοντες
Allora si avvicinarono a Gesù alcuni farisei e scribi venuti da Gerusalemme e dissero:
Then there approached Jesus the Pharisees (perushim), the pure observants (haverim) perushim / haverimⓘ, and the scribes (soferim) soferimⓘ come from Jerusalem, saying:

Διὰ τί οἱ μαθηταί σου παραβαίνουσιν τὴν παράδοσιν τῶν πρεσβυτέρων; οὐ γὰρ νίπτονται τὰς χεῖρας ⸀αὐτῶν ὅταν ἄρτον ἐσθίωσιν.
«Perché i tuoi discepoli trasgrediscono la tradizione degli antichi? Infatti non si lavano le mani quando prendono cibo!».
«Why do your disciples disciplesⓘ transgress the tradition of the ancients (zeqenim) zeqenimⓘ? They do not wash their handsⓘ when they eat bread».

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Διὰ τί καὶ ὑμεῖς παραβαίνετε τὴν ἐντολὴν τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ τὴν παράδοσιν ὑμῶν;
Ed egli rispose loro: «E voi, perché trasgredite il comandamento di Dio in nome della vostra tradizione?
He answered, saying to them: «And why do you transgress the command of Godⓘ for the sake of your tradition?

ὁ γὰρ θεὸς ⸀εἶπεν· Τίμα τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα, καί· Ὁ κακολογῶν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα θανάτῳ τελευτάτω·
Dio ha detto: Onora il padre e la madre, e inoltre: Chi maledice il padre o la madre sia messo a morte.
For God said: Honor the father and the motherⓘ, and: whoever curses father or mother let him be put to deathⓘ.

ὑμεῖς δὲ λέγετε· Ὃς ἂν εἴπῃ τῷ πατρὶ ἢ τῇ μητρί· Δῶρον ὃ ἐὰν ἐξ ἐμοῦ ὠφεληθῇς,
Voi invece dite: Chiunque dichiara al padre o alla madre: Ciò con cui dovrei aiutarti è offerto a Dio,
But you say: whoever says to father or mother: «qorbàn (votive offering) qorbànⓘ is whatever you might have had from me»,

⸀οὐ μὴ ⸀τιμήσει τὸν πατέρα ⸀αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἠκυρώσατε ⸂τὸν λόγον⸃ τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ τὴν παράδοσιν ὑμῶν.
non è più tenuto a onorare suo padre. Così avete annullato la parola di Dio in nome della vostra tradizione.
he shall not honor his father; and thus you have annulled the word of Godⓘ for the sake of your tradition.

ὑποκριταί, καλῶς ἐπροφήτευσεν περὶ ὑμῶν Ἠσαΐας λέγων·
Ipocriti! Bene ha profetato di voi Isaia, dicendo:
Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying:

⸂Ὁ λαὸς οὗτος⸃ τοῖς χείλεσίν με τιμᾷ, ἡ δὲ καρδία αὐτῶν πόρρω ἀπέχει ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ·
Questo popolo mi onora con le labbra, ma il suo cuore è lontano da me.
«This people honors me with the lips, but their heart is far from meⓘ;

μάτην δὲ σέβονταί με, διδάσκοντες διδασκαλίας ἐντάλματα ἀνθρώπων.
Invano essi mi rendono culto, insegnando dottrine che sono precetti di uomini».
in vain do they render me worship, teaching as doctrines precepts of menⓘ».

Καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος τὸν ὄχλον εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Ἀκούετε καὶ συνίετε·
Poi, riunita la folla, disse loro: «Ascoltate e comprendete!
And having summoned the crowd of the am ha-aretz (the common folk not versed in the Law) am ha-aretzⓘ he said to them: «Hear and understand:

οὐ τὸ εἰσερχόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον, ἀλλὰ τὸ ἐκπορευόμενον ἐκ τοῦ στόματος τοῦτο κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον.
Non ciò che entra nella bocca rende impuro l'uomo; ciò che esce dalla bocca, questo rende impuro l'uomo!».
not what enters the mouth defilesⓘ the man, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles the man».

Τότε προσελθόντες οἱ ⸀μαθηταὶ ⸀λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· Οἶδας ὅτι οἱ Φαρισαῖοι ἀκούσαντες τὸν λόγον ἐσκανδαλίσθησαν;
Allora i discepoli si avvicinarono per dirgli: «Sai che i farisei, udita questa parola, si sono scandalizzati?».
Then the disciples, having approached, say to him: «Do you know that the Pharisees (perushim), having heard the word, were scandalizedⓘ?».

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν· Πᾶσα φυτεία ἣν οὐκ ἐφύτευσεν ὁ πατήρ μου ὁ οὐράνιος ἐκριζωθήσεται.
Ed egli rispose: «Ogni pianta che non ha piantato il Padre mio celeste sarà sradicata.
He answered, saying: «Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be uprootedⓘ.

ἄφετε αὐτούς· ⸂τυφλοί εἰσιν ὁδηγοὶ τυφλῶν⸃· τυφλὸς δὲ τυφλὸν ἐὰν ὁδηγῇ, ἀμφότεροι εἰς βόθυνον πεσοῦνται.
Lasciateli! Sono ciechi guide di ciechi. E quando un cieco guida un altro cieco, tutti e due cadranno in un fosso!».
Leave them: they are blind, guides of the blindⓘ; and if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into the pit».

Ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Πέτρος εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Φράσον ἡμῖν τὴν παραβολὴν ⸀ταύτην.
Pietro allora gli disse: «Spiegaci questa parabola».
Peter, answering, said to him: «Explain to us this parableⓘ».

ὁ ⸀δὲ εἶπεν· Ἀκμὴν καὶ ὑμεῖς ἀσύνετοί ἐστε;
Ed egli rispose: «Anche voi siete ancora senza intelletto?
He said: «Are you also still without understanding?

⸀οὐ νοεῖτε ὅτι πᾶν τὸ εἰσπορευόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα εἰς τὴν κοιλίαν χωρεῖ καὶ εἰς ἀφεδρῶνα ἐκβάλλεται;
Non capite che tutto ciò che entra nella bocca passa nel ventre e viene espulso nella fogna?
Do you not comprehend that all that enters the mouth goes into the belly and is cast out into the sewerⓘ?

τὰ δὲ ἐκπορευόμενα ἐκ τοῦ στόματος ἐκ τῆς καρδίας ἐξέρχεται, κἀκεῖνα κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον.
Invece ciò che esce dalla bocca proviene dal cuore. Questo rende impuro l'uomo.
But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heartⓘ, and these defile the man.

ἐκ γὰρ τῆς καρδίας ἐξέρχονται διαλογισμοὶ πονηροί, φόνοι, μοιχεῖαι, πορνεῖαι, κλοπαί, ψευδομαρτυρίαι, βλασφημίαι.
Dal cuore, infatti, provengono propositi malvagi, omicidi, adultèri, impurità, furti, false testimonianze, calunnie.
For it is from there that come evil designs, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false testimonies, blasphemiesⓘ.

ταῦτά ἐστιν τὰ κοινοῦντα τὸν ἄνθρωπον, τὸ δὲ ἀνίπτοις χερσὶν φαγεῖν οὐ κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον.
Queste sono le cose che rendono impuro l'uomo; ma il mangiare senza lavarsi le mani non rende impuro l'uomo».
These are the things that defile the man; eating with unwashed hands does not defile the manⓘ».
