Καὶ μεθ’ ἡμέρας ἓξ παραλαμβάνει ὁ Ἰησοῦς τὸν Πέτρον καὶ Ἰάκωβον καὶ Ἰωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀναφέρει αὐτοὺς εἰς ὄρος ὑψηλὸν κατ’ ἰδίαν.
Sei giorni dopo, Gesù prese con sé Pietro, Giacomo e Giovanni suo fratello e li condusse in disparte, su un alto monte.
Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them apart, up a high mountainⓘ.

καὶ μετεμορφώθη ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν, καὶ ἔλαμψεν τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ὡς ὁ ἥλιος, τὰ δὲ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ ⸀ἐγένετο λευκὰ ὡς τὸ φῶς.
E fu trasfigurato davanti a loro: il suo volto brillò come il sole e le sue vesti divennero candide come la luce.
And he was transfiguredⓘ before them: his face shone like the sun, and his garments became white as the lightⓘ.

καὶ ἰδοὺ ⸀ὤφθη αὐτοῖς Μωϋσῆς καὶ Ἠλίας ⸂συλλαλοῦντες μετ’ αὐτοῦ⸃.
Ed ecco, apparvero loro Mosè ed Elia, che conversavano con lui.
And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, the Torah and the Prophets (the Nevi'imⓘ), who were conversing with himⓘ.

ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Πέτρος εἶπεν τῷ Ἰησοῦ· Κύριε, καλόν ἐστιν ἡμᾶς ὧδε εἶναι· εἰ θέλεις, ⸀ποιήσω ὧδε τρεῖς σκηνάς, σοὶ μίαν καὶ Μωϋσεῖ μίαν καὶ ⸂Ἠλίᾳ μίαν⸃.
Pietro prese a dire a Gesù: «Signore, è bello per noi essere qui! Se vuoi, farò qui tre capanne, una per te, una per Mosè e una per Elia».
Peter began to say to Jesus: «Lord, it is good for us to be here! If you wish, I will make here three booths of the feast of Sukkotⓘ, one for you, another for Moses, and a third for Elijah».

ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος ἰδοὺ νεφέλη φωτεινὴ ἐπεσκίασεν αὐτούς, καὶ ἰδοὺ φωνὴ ἐκ τῆς νεφέλης λέγουσα· Οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱός μου ὁ ἀγαπητός, ἐν ᾧ εὐδόκησα· ⸂ἀκούετε αὐτοῦ⸃.
Egli stava ancora parlando, quando una nube luminosa li avvolse con la sua ombra. Ed ecco una voce dalla nube che diceva: «Questi è il Figlio mio, l'amato, nel quale ho posto il mio compiacimento. Ascoltatelo».
He was still speaking when a luminous cloud, the Shekhinah, the cloud of glory (kavod)ⓘ overshadowed them. And behold, a voice from the cloud that said: «This is my Son, the beloved, in whom I have placed my delight. Listen to himⓘ».

καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ μαθηταὶ ἔπεσαν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτῶν καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν σφόδρα.
All'udire ciò, i discepoli caddero con la faccia a terra e furono presi da grande timore.
On hearing this, the disciplesⓘ fell on their faces and were seized with great fear.

καὶ ⸂προσῆλθεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ ἁψάμενος αὐτῶν⸃ εἶπεν· Ἐγέρθητε καὶ μὴ φοβεῖσθε.
Ma Gesù si avvicinò, li toccò e disse: «Alzatevi e non temete».
But Jesus drew near, touched them, and said: «Rise and do not be afraidⓘ».

ἐπάραντες δὲ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῶν οὐδένα εἶδον εἰ μὴ ⸀αὐτὸν Ἰησοῦν μόνον.
Alzando gli occhi non videro nessuno, se non Gesù solo.
Lifting their eyes they saw no one, except Jesus alone.

Καὶ καταβαινόντων αὐτῶν ἐκ τοῦ ὄρους ἐνετείλατο αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς λέγων· Μηδενὶ εἴπητε τὸ ὅραμα ἕως οὗ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐκ νεκρῶν ⸀ἐγερθῇ.
Mentre scendevano dal monte, Gesù ordinò loro: «Non parlate a nessuno di questa visione, finché il Figlio dell'uomo non sarà risorto dai morti».
As they were coming downⓘ from the mountain, Jesus ordered themⓘ: «Tell no one of this visionⓘ, until the Son of Man, the Bar Enashⓘ, has risen from the deadⓘ».

καὶ ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν οἱ ⸀μαθηταὶ λέγοντες· Τί οὖν οἱ γραμματεῖς λέγουσιν ὅτι Ἠλίαν δεῖ ἐλθεῖν πρῶτον;
Allora i discepoli gli domandarono: «Perché dunque gli scribi dicono che prima deve venire Elia?».
Then the disciples asked him: «Why then do the scribes, the soferim,ⓘ say that Elijah must come firstⓘ?».

ὁ ⸀δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς ⸀εἶπεν· Ἠλίας μὲν ⸀ἔρχεται καὶ ἀποκαταστήσει πάντα·
Ed egli rispose: «Sì, Elia viene e ristabilirà ogni cosa.
And he replied: «Yes, Elijah comes and will restore all thingsⓘ.

λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι Ἠλίας ἤδη ἦλθεν, καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνωσαν αὐτὸν ἀλλὰ ἐποίησαν ἐν αὐτῷ ὅσα ἠθέλησαν· οὕτως καὶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου μέλλει πάσχειν ὑπ’ αὐτῶν.
Ma io vi dico: Elia è già venuto e non lo hanno riconosciuto; anzi, hanno fatto di lui quello che hanno voluto. Così anche il Figlio dell'uomo dovrà soffrire da parte loro».
But I tell you: Elijah has already comeⓘ and they did not recognize him; rather, they did to him whatever they wished. So too the Son of Man will have to suffer at their hands».

τότε συνῆκαν οἱ μαθηταὶ ὅτι περὶ Ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς.
Allora i discepoli compresero che egli parlava loro di Giovanni il Battista.
Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptistⓘ.
