GreekΤότε προσῆλθεν αὐτῷ ἡ μήτηρ τῶν υἱῶν Ζεβεδαίου μετὰ τῶν υἱῶν αὐτῆς προσκυνοῦσα καὶ αἰτοῦσά τι ⸀παρ’ αὐτοῦ.
Orthodox ReadingThen the mother of the sons of Zebedeeⓘ came up to him with her sons and prostrated herself to ask him something.

Greekὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῇ· Τί θέλεις; λέγει αὐτῷ· Εἰπὲ ἵνα καθίσωσιν οὗτοι οἱ δύο υἱοί μου εἷς ἐκ δεξιῶν ⸀σου καὶ εἷς ἐξ εὐωνύμων σου ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ σου.
Orthodox ReadingHe said to her: «What do you want?». She answered him: «Say that these two sons of mine may sit one at your right handⓘ and one at your left in your kingdom».

Greekἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· Οὐκ οἴδατε τί αἰτεῖσθε· δύνασθε πιεῖν τὸ ποτήριον ὃ ἐγὼ μέλλω ⸀πίνειν; λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· Δυνάμεθα.
Orthodox ReadingJesus answered: «You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cupⓘ that I am about to drink?». They say to him: «We can».

Greek⸀λέγει αὐτοῖς· Τὸ μὲν ποτήριόν μου ⸀πίεσθε, τὸ δὲ καθίσαι ἐκ δεξιῶν μου καὶ ἐξ ⸀εὐωνύμων οὐκ ἔστιν ⸀ἐμὸν δοῦναι, ἀλλ’ οἷς ἡτοίμασται ὑπὸ τοῦ πατρός μου.
Orthodox ReadingAnd he said to them: «My cup you shall drink; but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grantⓘ: it is for those for whom my Father has prepared it».

Greekὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτοὺς εἶπεν· Οἴδατε ὅτι οἱ ἄρχοντες τῶν ἐθνῶν κατακυριεύουσιν αὐτῶν καὶ οἱ μεγάλοι κατεξουσιάζουσιν αὐτῶν.
