Τότε προσῆλθεν αὐτῷ ἡ μήτηρ τῶν υἱῶν Ζεβεδαίου μετὰ τῶν υἱῶν αὐτῆς προσκυνοῦσα καὶ αἰτοῦσά τι ⸀παρ’ αὐτοῦ.
Allora gli si avvicinò la madre dei figli di Zebedeo con i suoi figli e si prostrò per chiedergli qualcosa.
Then the mother of the sons of Zebedeeⓘ came up to him with her sons and prostrated herself to ask him something.

ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῇ· Τί θέλεις; λέγει αὐτῷ· Εἰπὲ ἵνα καθίσωσιν οὗτοι οἱ δύο υἱοί μου εἷς ἐκ δεξιῶν ⸀σου καὶ εἷς ἐξ εὐωνύμων σου ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ σου.
Egli le disse: «Che cosa vuoi?». Gli rispose: «Di' che questi miei due figli siedano uno alla tua destra e uno alla tua sinistra nel tuo regno».
He said to her: «What do you want?». She answered him: «Say that these two sons of mine may sit one at your right handⓘ and one at your left in your kingdom».

ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· Οὐκ οἴδατε τί αἰτεῖσθε· δύνασθε πιεῖν τὸ ποτήριον ὃ ἐγὼ μέλλω ⸀πίνειν; λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· Δυνάμεθα.
Rispose Gesù: «Voi non sapete quello che chiedete. Potete bere il calice che io sto per bere?». Gli dicono: «Lo possiamo».
Jesus answered: «You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cupⓘ that I am about to drink?». They say to him: «We can».

⸀λέγει αὐτοῖς· Τὸ μὲν ποτήριόν μου ⸀πίεσθε, τὸ δὲ καθίσαι ἐκ δεξιῶν μου καὶ ἐξ ⸀εὐωνύμων οὐκ ἔστιν ⸀ἐμὸν δοῦναι, ἀλλ’ οἷς ἡτοίμασται ὑπὸ τοῦ πατρός μου.
Ed egli disse loro: «Il mio calice lo berrete; però sedere alla mia destra e alla mia sinistra non sta a me concederlo: è per coloro per i quali il Padre mio lo ha preparato».
And he said to them: «My cup you shall drink; but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grantⓘ: it is for those for whom my Father has prepared it».

Καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ δέκα ἠγανάκτησαν περὶ τῶν δύο ἀδελφῶν.
Gli altri dieci, udito questo, si sdegnarono con i due fratelli.
The other ten, hearing this, were indignant with the two brothers.

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτοὺς εἶπεν· Οἴδατε ὅτι οἱ ἄρχοντες τῶν ἐθνῶν κατακυριεύουσιν αὐτῶν καὶ οἱ μεγάλοι κατεξουσιάζουσιν αὐτῶν.
Ma Gesù li chiamò a sé e disse: «Voi sapete che i governanti delle nazioni dominano su di esse e i capi le opprimono.
But Jesus called them to himself and said: «You know that the rulers of the nations lord itⓘ over them and the leaders oppress them.

οὐχ οὕτως ⸀ἔσται ἐν ὑμῖν· ἀλλ’ ὃς ⸀ἂν θέλῃ ἐν ὑμῖν μέγας γενέσθαι ἔσται ὑμῶν διάκονος,
Tra voi non sarà così; ma chi vuole diventare grande tra voi, sarà vostro servitore
Among you it shall not be so; but whoever wants to become great among you shall be your servantⓘ

καὶ ὃς ⸀ἂν θέλῃ ἐν ὑμῖν εἶναι πρῶτος ⸀ἔσται ὑμῶν δοῦλος·
e chi vuole essere il primo tra voi, sarà vostro schiavo.
and whoever wants to be first among you shall be your slaveⓘ.

ὥσπερ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου οὐκ ἦλθεν διακονηθῆναι ἀλλὰ διακονῆσαι καὶ δοῦναι τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ λύτρον ἀντὶ πολλῶν.
Come il Figlio dell'uomo, che non è venuto per farsi servire, ma per servire e dare la propria vita in riscatto per molti».
As the Son of Man, who came not to be servedⓘ, but to serve and to give his own lifeⓘ as a ransom for manyⓘ».
