Orthodox ReadingHaving entered the ⓘ, while he ⓘ, the chief priests approached him (the ⓘ of the summit) and the elders of the people (the ⓘ) and said: «By what ⓘ do you do these things? And who gave you this authority?».

Greekτὸ βάπτισμα ⸀τὸ Ἰωάννου πόθεν ἦν; ἐξ οὐρανοῦ ἢ ἐξ ἀνθρώπων; οἱ δὲ διελογίζοντο ⸀ἐν ἑαυτοῖς λέγοντες· Ἐὰν εἴπωμεν· Ἐξ οὐρανοῦ, ἐρεῖ ἡμῖν· Διὰ τί οὖν οὐκ ἐπιστεύσατε αὐτῷ;
