Ὅταν οὖν ἴδητε τὸ βδέλυγμα τῆς ἐρημώσεως τὸ ῥηθὲν διὰ Δανιὴλ τοῦ προφήτου ⸀ἑστὸς ἐν τόπῳ ἁγίῳ, ὁ ἀναγινώσκων νοείτω,

Quando dunque vedrete l'abominio della desolazione, di cui parlò il profeta Daniele, stante nel luogo santo - chi legge, comprenda -,

So when you see the abomination of desolationⓘ, of which the prophet Daniel spoke, standing in the holy place, the Templeⓘ — let the reader understand —,

τότε οἱ ἐν τῇ Ἰουδαίᾳ φευγέτωσαν ⸀ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη,

allora quelli che sono in Giudea fuggano sui monti,

then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountainsⓘ,

ὁ ἐπὶ τοῦ δώματος μὴ ⸀καταβάτω ἆραι τὰ ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ,

chi si trova sulla terrazza non scenda a prendere la roba di casa,

let the one on the housetopⓘ not go down to take the goods of the house,

καὶ ὁ ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ μὴ ἐπιστρεψάτω ὀπίσω ἆραι ⸂τὸ ἱμάτιον⸃ αὐτοῦ.

e chi si trova nel campo non torni indietro a prendere il suo mantello.

and let the one in the field not turn back for the cloakⓘ.

οὐαὶ δὲ ταῖς ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσαις καὶ ταῖς θηλαζούσαις ἐν ἐκείναις ταῖς ἡμέραις.

In quei giorni guai alle donne incinte e a quelle che allattano!

Woeⓘ to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing in those days!

προσεύχεσθε δὲ ἵνα μὴ γένηται ἡ φυγὴ ὑμῶν χειμῶνος μηδὲ σαββάτῳ·

Pregate perché la vostra fuga non accada d'inverno né di sabato.

Pray that your flight may not be in winter nor on the Shabbat, the Sabbathⓘ.

ἔσται γὰρ τότε θλῖψις μεγάλη οἵα οὐ γέγονεν ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς κόσμου ἕως τοῦ νῦν οὐδ’ οὐ μὴ γένηται.

Poiché vi sarà allora una tribolazione grande, quale non vi è mai stata dall'inizio del mondo fino a ora, né mai più vi sarà.

For there will then be a great tribulationⓘ such as has not been from the beginning of the world nor ever shall be again.

καὶ εἰ μὴ ἐκολοβώθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι ἐκεῖναι, οὐκ ἂν ἐσώθη πᾶσα σάρξ· διὰ δὲ τοὺς ἐκλεκτοὺς κολοβωθήσονται αἱ ἡμέραι ἐκεῖναι.

E se quei giorni non fossero abbreviati, nessuno si salverebbe; ma, grazie agli eletti, quei giorni saranno abbreviati.

And if those days were not cut shortⓘ, no one would be saved; but for the electⓘ those days will be cut short.

τότε ἐάν τις ὑμῖν εἴπῃ· Ἰδοὺ ὧδε ὁ χριστός, ἤ· Ὧδε, μὴ πιστεύσητε·

Allora, se qualcuno vi dirà: Ecco, il Cristo è qui, o: È là, non credetegli.

Then, if anyone says to you: «Behold, the Messiahⓘ is here», or «He is there», do not believe it:

ἐγερθήσονται γὰρ ψευδόχριστοι καὶ ψευδοπροφῆται, καὶ δώσουσιν σημεῖα μεγάλα καὶ τέρατα ὥστε ⸀πλανῆσαι εἰ δυνατὸν καὶ τοὺς ἐκλεκτούς·

Sorgeranno infatti falsi cristi e falsi profeti e faranno grandi segni e prodigi, così da ingannare, se possibile, anche gli eletti.

for there will arise false messiahs and false prophetsⓘ and they will perform great signs and wondersⓘ, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

ἰδοὺ προείρηκα ὑμῖν.

Ecco, io ve l'ho predetto.

Behold, I have told you beforehandⓘ.

ἐὰν οὖν εἴπωσιν ὑμῖν· Ἰδοὺ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ἐστίν, μὴ ἐξέλθητε· Ἰδοὺ ἐν τοῖς ταμείοις, μὴ πιστεύσητε·

Se dunque vi diranno: Ecco, è nel deserto, non andateci; o: Ecco, è nelle stanze più interne, non credeteci.

So if they say to you: «Behold, he is in the wilderness», do not go out; «Behold, he is in the inner roomsⓘ», do not believe it:

ὥσπερ γὰρ ἡ ἀστραπὴ ἐξέρχεται ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν καὶ φαίνεται ἕως δυσμῶν, οὕτως ⸀ἔσται ἡ παρουσία τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου·

Come infatti la folgore viene da oriente e brilla fino a occidente, così sarà la venuta del Figlio dell'uomo.

as the lightningⓘ goes out from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Manⓘ.
