Τότε ἔρχεται μετ’ αὐτῶν ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἰς χωρίον λεγόμενον Γεθσημανί, καὶ λέγει τοῖς μαθηταῖς· Καθίσατε αὐτοῦ ἕως οὗ ἀπελθὼν ⸂ἐκεῖ προσεύξωμαι⸃.
Allora Gesù andò con loro in un podere, chiamato Getsèmani, e disse ai discepoli: «Sedetevi qui, mentre io vado là a pregare».
Then Jesus comes with them to a plot of land called Gethsemaneⓘ, and says to the disciples: «Sit here while, having gone over there, I prayⓘ».

καὶ παραλαβὼν τὸν Πέτρον καὶ τοὺς δύο υἱοὺς Ζεβεδαίου ἤρξατο λυπεῖσθαι καὶ ἀδημονεῖν.
E, presi con sé Pietro e i due figli di Zebedeo, cominciò a provare tristezza e angoscia.
And having taken with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedeeⓘ, he began to be seized by sorrow and to be in anguishⓘ.

τότε λέγει ⸀αὐτοῖς· Περίλυπός ἐστιν ἡ ψυχή μου ἕως θανάτου· μείνατε ὧδε καὶ γρηγορεῖτε μετ’ ἐμοῦ.
E disse loro: «La mia anima è triste fino alla morte; restate qui e vegliate con me».
Then he says to them: «Encompassed by sorrowⓘ is my nepheshⓘ unto death; remain here and keep watchⓘ with me».

καὶ ⸀προελθὼν μικρὸν ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ προσευχόμενος καὶ λέγων· Πάτερ μου, εἰ δυνατόν ἐστιν, παρελθάτω ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ τὸ ποτήριον τοῦτο· πλὴν οὐχ ὡς ἐγὼ θέλω ἀλλ’ ὡς σύ.
E, avanzando un poco, cadde con la faccia a terra e pregava, dicendo: «Padre mio, se è possibile, passi via da me questo calice! Però non come voglio io, ma come vuoi tu!».
And having gone forward a little he fell on his faceⓘ praying and saying: «My Fatherⓘ, if it is possible, let it pass beyondⓘ from me this cupⓘ! Yet not as I will, but as youⓘ».

καὶ ἔρχεται πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς καὶ εὑρίσκει αὐτοὺς καθεύδοντας, καὶ λέγει τῷ Πέτρῳ· Οὕτως οὐκ ἰσχύσατε μίαν ὥραν γρηγορῆσαι μετ’ ἐμοῦ;
Poi venne dai discepoli e li trovò addormentati. E disse a Pietro: «Così, non siete stati capaci di vegliare un'ora sola con me?
And he comes to the disciples and finds them asleep, and says to Peter: «So, you did not have the strength to keep watch one single hourⓘ with me?

γρηγορεῖτε καὶ προσεύχεσθε, ἵνα μὴ εἰσέλθητε εἰς πειρασμόν· τὸ μὲν πνεῦμα πρόθυμον ἡ δὲ σὰρξ ἀσθενής.
Vegliate e pregate, per non entrare in tentazione. Lo spirito è pronto, ma la carne è debole».
Keep watch and pray, that you may not enter into trialⓘ: the ruach is tautⓘ but the basar yieldsⓘ».

πάλιν ἐκ δευτέρου ἀπελθὼν προσηύξατο λέγων· Πάτερ μου, εἰ οὐ δύναται ⸀τοῦτο ⸀παρελθεῖν ἐὰν μὴ αὐτὸ πίω, γενηθήτω τὸ θέλημά σου.
Si allontanò una seconda volta e pregò dicendo: «Padre mio, se questo calice non può passare via senza che io lo beva, si compia la tua volontà».
Again, a second timeⓘ, having gone away, he prayed saying: «My Father, if it is not possible that this pass beyond unless I drink it, let it be doneⓘ your ratzonⓘ».

καὶ ἀφεὶς αὐτοὺς ⸂πάλιν ἀπελθὼν⸃ προσηύξατο ἐκ τρίτου τὸν αὐτὸν λόγον εἰπὼν ⸀πάλιν.
pregò per la terza volta, ripetendo le stesse parole.
And leaving them, having again gone away he prayed a third time saying once more the same word.

τότε ἔρχεται πρὸς τοὺς ⸀μαθητὰς καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Καθεύδετε ⸀τὸ λοιπὸν καὶ ἀναπαύεσθε· ἰδοὺ ἤγγικεν ἡ ὥρα καὶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου παραδίδοται εἰς χεῖρας ἁμαρτωλῶν.
Poi si avvicinò ai discepoli e disse loro: «Dormite pure e riposatevi! Ecco, l'ora è vicina e il Figlio dell'uomo viene consegnato in mano ai peccatori.
Then he comes to the disciples and says to them: «Sleep now and rest: behold, it has drawn nearⓘ the hourⓘ and the Son of manⓘ is handed overⓘ into the hands of transgressorsⓘ.

ἐγείρεσθε ἄγωμεν· ἰδοὺ ἤγγικεν ὁ παραδιδούς με.
Alzatevi, andiamo! Ecco, colui che mi tradisce è vicino».
Rise, let us goⓘ: behold, it has drawn nearⓘ the one who is handing me over».
