Ὁ δὲ Πέτρος ⸂ἐκάθητο ἔξω⸃ ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ· καὶ προσῆλθεν αὐτῷ μία παιδίσκη λέγουσα· Καὶ σὺ ἦσθα μετὰ Ἰησοῦ τοῦ Γαλιλαίου·
Pietro intanto se ne stava seduto fuori, nel cortile. Una giovane serva gli si avvicinò e disse: «Anche tu eri con Gesù, il Galileo!».
Peter was sitting outside in the courtyardⓘ. A servant girlⓘ: «You too were with Jesus the Galileanⓘ!».

ὁ δὲ ἠρνήσατο ⸀ἔμπροσθεν πάντων λέγων· Οὐκ οἶδα τί λέγεις.
Ma egli negò davanti a tutti dicendo: «Non capisco che cosa dici».
He denied it before them all: «I do not understand».

ἐξελθόντα ⸀δὲ εἰς τὸν πυλῶνα εἶδεν αὐτὸν ἄλλη καὶ λέγει ⸀τοῖς ἐκεῖ· ⸀Οὗτος ἦν μετὰ Ἰησοῦ τοῦ Ναζωραίου·
Mentre usciva verso l'atrio, lo vide un'altra serva e disse ai presenti: «Costui era con Gesù, il Nazareno».
At the gateway, another: «This man was with Jesus the Nazareneⓘ».

καὶ πάλιν ἠρνήσατο μετὰ ὅρκου ὅτι Οὐκ οἶδα τὸν ἄνθρωπον.
Ma egli negò di nuovo, giurando: «Non conosco quell'uomo!».
He denied it with an oathⓘ: «I do not know that man».

μετὰ μικρὸν δὲ προσελθόντες οἱ ἑστῶτες εἶπον τῷ Πέτρῳ· Ἀληθῶς καὶ σὺ ἐξ αὐτῶν εἶ, καὶ γὰρ ἡ λαλιά σου δῆλόν σε ποιεῖ·
Dopo un poco, i presenti si avvicinarono e dissero a Pietro: «È vero, anche tu sei di quelli: infatti il tuo modo di parlare ti tradisce!».
The bystanders: «Surely you are one of them: your way of speaking gives you awayⓘ!».

τότε ἤρξατο καταθεματίζειν καὶ ὀμνύειν ὅτι Οὐκ οἶδα τὸν ἄνθρωπον. καὶ ⸀εὐθέως ἀλέκτωρ ἐφώνησεν·
Allora egli cominciò a imprecare e a giurare: «Non conosco quell'uomo!». E subito un gallo cantò.
Then he began to curse and to swearⓘ: «I do not know that man!». And immediately a cock crowedⓘ.

καὶ ἐμνήσθη ὁ Πέτρος τοῦ ⸀ῥήματος Ἰησοῦ ⸀εἰρηκότος ὅτι Πρὶν ἀλέκτορα φωνῆσαι τρὶς ἀπαρνήσῃ με, καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἔξω ἔκλαυσεν πικρῶς.
E Pietro si ricordò della parola di Gesù, che aveva detto: «Prima che il gallo canti, tre volte mi rinnegherai». E, uscito fuori, pianse amaramente.
Peter remembered the word of Jesus and, having gone out, wept bitterlyⓘ.
