Orthodox ReadingDo not think that I have come to abolishⓘ the Torah (the instructionⓘ) or the Prophets (the Nevi'imⓘ); I have not come to abolish, but to bring to fulfillmentⓘ.

Greekἀμὴν γὰρ λέγω ὑμῖν, ἕως ἂν παρέλθῃ ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ἡ γῆ, ἰῶτα ἓν ἢ μία κεραία οὐ μὴ παρέλθῃ ἀπὸ τοῦ νόμου, ἕως ἂν πάντα γένηται.
Orthodox ReadingTruly I say to youⓘ: until heaven and earthⓘ pass away, not one iota or one strokeⓘ will pass from the Torahⓘ, until all is accomplishedⓘ.

Greekὃς ἐὰν οὖν λύσῃ μίαν τῶν ἐντολῶν τούτων τῶν ἐλαχίστων καὶ διδάξῃ οὕτως τοὺς ἀνθρώπους, ἐλάχιστος κληθήσεται ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν· ὃς δ’ ἂν ποιήσῃ καὶ διδάξῃ, οὗτος μέγας κληθήσεται ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν.
Orthodox ReadingWhoever therefore looses one of these least preceptsⓘ and so teaches othersⓘ will be called leastⓘ in the kingdom of heavenⓘ; but whoever does and teaches themⓘ will be called greatⓘ.

Greekλέγω γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐὰν μὴ περισσεύσῃ ⸂ὑμῶν ἡ δικαιοσύνη⸃ πλεῖον τῶν γραμματέων καὶ Φαρισαίων, οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθητε εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τῶν οὐρανῶν.
Orthodox ReadingFor I say to you: if your righteousness (tzedaqah)ⓘ does not surpassⓘ that of the soferim (the scribes, the masters of the written Torahⓘ) and of the perushim (the Pharisees, the observantⓘ), you will not enter the kingdom of heavenⓘ.
