Ταῦτα ⸀εἰπὼν Ἰησοῦς ἐξῆλθεν σὺν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ πέραν τοῦ χειμάρρου ⸀τοῦ Κεδρὼν ὅπου ἦν κῆπος, εἰς ὃν εἰσῆλθεν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ.
Dette queste cose, Gesù uscì con i suoi discepoli al di là del torrente Cedron, dove c'era un giardino, nel quale entrò con i suoi discepoli.
When he had said these things, Jesus went out with his disciples beyond the Kidron Valleyⓘ, where there was a gardenⓘ, which he entered, he and his disciples.

ᾔδει δὲ καὶ Ἰούδας ὁ παραδιδοὺς αὐτὸν τὸν τόπον, ὅτι πολλάκις ⸀συνήχθη Ἰησοῦς ἐκεῖ μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ.
Anche Giuda, il traditore, conosceva quel luogo, perché Gesù spesso si era trovato là con i suoi discepoli.
Now Judas, who was handing him over, also knew the place, because Jesus often gatheredⓘ there with his disciples.

ὁ οὖν Ἰούδας λαβὼν τὴν σπεῖραν καὶ ἐκ τῶν ἀρχιερέων καὶ ⸂ἐκ τῶν⸃ Φαρισαίων ὑπηρέτας ἔρχεται ἐκεῖ μετὰ φανῶν καὶ λαμπάδων καὶ ὅπλων.
Giuda dunque vi andò, dopo aver preso un gruppo di soldati e alcune guardie fornite dai capi dei sacerdoti e dai farisei, con lanterne, fiaccole e armi.
So Judas, having taken the cohortⓘ and, supplied by the archiereis (the kohanim of the temple leadership) and the Pharisees (perushim, the observant), some Temple guardsⓘ, comes there with lanterns and torchesⓘ and weaponsⓘ.

Ἰησοῦς ⸀οὖν εἰδὼς πάντα τὰ ἐρχόμενα ἐπ’ αὐτὸν ⸂ἐξῆλθεν, καὶ λέγει⸃ αὐτοῖς· Τίνα ζητεῖτε;
Gesù allora, sapendo tutto quello che doveva accadergli, si fece innanzi e disse loro: «Chi cercate?».
Jesus then, knowingⓘ all that was coming upon him, came forwardⓘ and says to them: «Whom do you seek?».

ἀπεκρίθησαν αὐτῷ· Ἰησοῦν τὸν Ναζωραῖον. λέγει ⸀αὐτοῖς· Ἐγώ εἰμι. εἱστήκει δὲ καὶ Ἰούδας ὁ παραδιδοὺς αὐτὸν μετ’ αὐτῶν.
Gli risposero: «Gesù, il Nazareno». Disse loro Gesù: «Sono io!». Vi era con loro anche Giuda, il traditore.
They answered him: «Jesus the Nazarene». He says to them: «I AMⓘ». Judas, who was handing him over, was also standing with them.

ὡς οὖν εἶπεν ⸀αὐτοῖς· Ἐγώ εἰμι, ἀπῆλθον εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω καὶ ἔπεσαν χαμαί.
Appena disse loro «Sono io», indietreggiarono e caddero a terra.
So when he said to them «I AMⓘ», they drew back and fell to the groundⓘ.

πάλιν οὖν ⸂ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτούς⸃· Τίνα ζητεῖτε; οἱ δὲ εἶπαν· Ἰησοῦν τὸν Ναζωραῖον.
Domandò loro di nuovo: «Chi cercate?». Risposero: «Gesù, il Nazareno».
Again then he asked them: «Whom do you seek?». They said: «Jesus the Nazarene».

ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς· Εἶπον ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι· εἰ οὖν ἐμὲ ζητεῖτε, ἄφετε τούτους ὑπάγειν·
Gesù replicò: «Vi ho detto: sono io. Se dunque cercate me, lasciate che questi se ne vadano»,
Jesus answered: «I told you that I AMⓘ; if then you seek me, let these goⓘ»,

ἵνα πληρωθῇ ὁ λόγος ὃν εἶπεν ὅτι Οὓς δέδωκάς μοι οὐκ ἀπώλεσα ἐξ αὐτῶν οὐδένα.
perché si compisse la parola che egli aveva detto: «Non ho perduto nessuno di quelli che mi hai dato».
that the wordⓘ he had spoken might be fulfilled: «Of those you have given me I have lostⓘ none».

Σίμων οὖν Πέτρος ἔχων μάχαιραν εἵλκυσεν αὐτὴν καὶ ἔπαισεν τὸν τοῦ ἀρχιερέως δοῦλον καὶ ἀπέκοψεν αὐτοῦ τὸ ⸀ὠτάριον τὸ δεξιόν. ἦν δὲ ὄνομα τῷ δούλῳ Μάλχος.
Allora Simon Pietro, che aveva una spada, la trasse fuori, colpì il servo del sommo sacerdote e gli tagliò l'orecchio destro. Quel servo si chiamava Malco.
Then Simon Peter, who had a swordⓘ, drew it and struck the servantⓘ of the archiereus, the high priest (kohen gadol), and cut off his right earⓘ. The servant's name was Malchusⓘ.

εἶπεν οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς τῷ Πέτρῳ· Βάλε τὴν ⸀μάχαιραν εἰς τὴν θήκην· τὸ ποτήριον ὃ δέδωκέν μοι ὁ πατὴρ οὐ μὴ πίω αὐτό;
Gesù allora disse a Pietro: «Rimetti la spada nel fodero: il calice che il Padre mi ha dato, non dovrò berlo?».
Jesus then said to Peter: «Put the swordⓘ back into the sheathⓘ: the cupⓘ that the Father has given me, shall I not drink it?».
