Greekκαὶ ἐπιθυμῶν χορτασθῆναι ⸀ἀπὸ τῶν πιπτόντων ἀπὸ τῆς τραπέζης τοῦ πλουσίου· ἀλλὰ καὶ οἱ κύνες ἐρχόμενοι ⸀ἐπέλειχον τὰ ἕλκη αὐτοῦ.

Greekἐγένετο δὲ ἀποθανεῖν τὸν πτωχὸν καὶ ἀπενεχθῆναι αὐτὸν ὑπὸ τῶν ἀγγέλων εἰς τὸν κόλπον Ἀβραάμ· ἀπέθανεν δὲ καὶ ὁ πλούσιος καὶ ἐτάφη.

Greekκαὶ ἐν τῷ ᾅδῃ ἐπάρας τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ, ὑπάρχων ἐν βασάνοις, ⸀ὁρᾷ Ἀβραὰμ ἀπὸ μακρόθεν καὶ Λάζαρον ἐν τοῖς κόλποις αὐτοῦ.

Greekκαὶ αὐτὸς φωνήσας εἶπεν· Πάτερ Ἀβραάμ, ἐλέησόν με καὶ πέμψον Λάζαρον ἵνα βάψῃ τὸ ἄκρον τοῦ δακτύλου αὐτοῦ ὕδατος καὶ καταψύξῃ τὴν γλῶσσάν μου, ὅτι ὀδυνῶμαι ἐν τῇ φλογὶ ταύτῃ.
Orthodox ReadingAnd crying out he said: «Father Abrahamⓘ, have mercy on me and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongueⓘ, for I sufferⓘ in this flameⓘ».

Greekεἶπεν δὲ Ἀβραάμ· Τέκνον, μνήσθητι ὅτι ⸀ἀπέλαβες τὰ ἀγαθά σου ἐν τῇ ζωῇ σου, καὶ Λάζαρος ὁμοίως τὰ κακά· νῦν δὲ ὧδε παρακαλεῖται σὺ δὲ ὀδυνᾶσαι.
Orthodox ReadingBut Abraham said: «Childⓘ, remember that you received your goodsⓘ in your life, and Lazarus likewise the evils; now here he is comfortedⓘ, while you suffer.

Greekκαὶ ⸀ἐν πᾶσι τούτοις μεταξὺ ἡμῶν καὶ ὑμῶν χάσμα μέγα ἐστήρικται, ὅπως οἱ θέλοντες διαβῆναι ἔνθεν πρὸς ὑμᾶς μὴ δύνωνται, ⸀μηδὲ ἐκεῖθεν πρὸς ἡμᾶς διαπερῶσιν.

Greekὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Οὐχί, πάτερ Ἀβραάμ, ἀλλ’ ἐάν τις ἀπὸ νεκρῶν πορευθῇ πρὸς αὐτοὺς μετανοήσουσιν.
Orthodox ReadingBut he said: «No, father Abraham, but rather if someone from the dead goes to themⓘ, they will repentⓘ».

Greekεἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ· Εἰ Μωϋσέως καὶ τῶν προφητῶν οὐκ ἀκούουσιν, οὐδ’ ἐάν τις ἐκ νεκρῶν ἀναστῇ πεισθήσονται.
Orthodox ReadingBut Abraham then said to him: «If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded even if someone should rise from the deadⓘ».
