Καὶ τῇ ἐπαύριον ἐξελθόντων αὐτῶν ἀπὸ Βηθανίας ἐπείνασεν.
Il giorno seguente, mentre uscivano da Betània, ebbe fame.
The next day, as they came out from Bethanyⓘ, Jesus was hungryⓘ.

καὶ ἰδὼν συκῆν ⸀ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἔχουσαν φύλλα ἦλθεν εἰ ἄρα ⸂τι εὑρήσει⸃ ἐν αὐτῇ, καὶ ἐλθὼν ἐπ’ αὐτὴν οὐδὲν εὗρεν εἰ μὴ φύλλα, ⸂ὁ γὰρ καιρὸς οὐκ ἦν⸃ σύκων.
E, vedendo da lontano un albero di fichi che aveva delle foglie, si avvicinò per vedere se per caso vi trovasse qualcosa, ma, arrivato vicino, non trovò altro che foglie; non era infatti la stagione dei fichi.
Seeing from afar a fig tree with leavesⓘ, he went to see whether he might find any fruit on itⓘ, but he found only leaves: it was not the season for figsⓘ.

καὶ ⸀ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτῇ· Μηκέτι ⸂εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ἐκ σοῦ⸃ μηδεὶς καρπὸν φάγοι. καὶ ἤκουον οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ.
E disse all'albero: «Nessuno mai più in eterno mangi i tuoi frutti!». E i suoi discepoli l'udirono.
And he answered and saidⓘ to the tree: «May no one ever again eat fruit from youⓘ» — a prophetic sign in actⓘ. And his disciplesⓘ kept hearingⓘ.
