Καὶ ἐξῆλθεν πάλιν παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν· καὶ πᾶς ὁ ὄχλος ἤρχετο πρὸς αὐτόν, καὶ ἐδίδασκεν αὐτούς.
Uscì di nuovo lungo il mare; tutta la folla veniva a lui ed egli insegnava loro.
He went outⓘ again along the seaⓘ, and the whole crowd of am ha-aretz (the common people of the land, non-observant)ⓘ kept comingⓘ to him, and he was teaching themⓘ.

καὶ παράγων εἶδεν Λευὶν τὸν τοῦ Ἁλφαίου καθήμενον ἐπὶ τὸ τελώνιον, καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ· Ἀκολούθει μοι. καὶ ἀναστὰς ἠκολούθησεν αὐτῷ.
Passando, vide Levi, il figlio di Alfeo, seduto al banco delle imposte, e gli disse: «Seguimi». Ed egli si alzò e lo seguì.
As he passed by, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus seated at the tax boothⓘ: «Follow meⓘ». He rose and followed himⓘ.

Καὶ ⸀γίνεται κατακεῖσθαι αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ αὐτοῦ, καὶ πολλοὶ τελῶναι καὶ ἁμαρτωλοὶ συνανέκειντο τῷ Ἰησοῦ καὶ τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ, ἦσαν γὰρ πολλοὶ καὶ ⸀ἠκολούθουν αὐτῷ.
Mentre stava a tavola in casa di lui, anche molti pubblicani e peccatori erano a tavola con Gesù e i suoi discepoli; erano molti infatti quelli che lo seguivano.
It happens that he is reclining at tableⓘ in his houseⓘ, and many tax-collectorsⓘ and sinnersⓘ were reclining at tableⓘ with Jesus and his disciplesⓘ; for they were many, and they were following himⓘ.

καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς ⸂τῶν Φαρισαίων⸃ ⸀ἰδόντες ⸂ὅτι ἐσθίει⸃ μετὰ τῶν ⸂ἁμαρτωλῶν καὶ τελωνῶν⸃ ἔλεγον τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ· ⸀Ὅτι μετὰ τῶν ⸂τελωνῶν καὶ ἁμαρτωλῶν⸃ ⸀ἐσθίει;
Allora gli scribi dei farisei, vedendolo mangiare con i peccatori e i pubblicani, dicevano ai suoi discepoli: «Perché mangia e beve insieme ai pubblicani e ai peccatori?».
And the soferim of the party of the perushimⓘ, seeingⓘ that he eats with the sinners and the tax-collectorsⓘ, kept sayingⓘ to his disciples: «Why does he eat with the tax-collectors and the sinnersⓘ?».

καὶ ἀκούσας ὁ Ἰησοῦς λέγει αὐτοῖς ⸀ὅτι Οὐ χρείαν ἔχουσιν οἱ ἰσχύοντες ἰατροῦ ἀλλ’ οἱ κακῶς ἔχοντες· οὐκ ἦλθον καλέσαι δικαίους ἀλλὰ ⸀ἁμαρτωλούς.
Udito questo, Gesù disse loro: «Non sono i sani che hanno bisogno del medico, ma i malati; io non sono venuto a chiamare i giusti, ma i peccatori».
Hearing thisⓘ, Jesus says to them: «Those who are wellⓘ have no need of a physician, but those who are sickⓘ; I came not to call the righteous, but sinnersⓘ».
