Καὶ συνάγονται πρὸς αὐτὸν οἱ Φαρισαῖοι καί τινες τῶν γραμματέων ἐλθόντες ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων
Si riunirono attorno a lui i farisei e alcuni degli scribi, venuti da Gerusalemme.
The Pharisees (perushim), the observant ones set apart for purity perushimⓘ, gathered around him, together with some scribes (soferim) soferimⓘ come from Jerusalem.

καὶ ἰδόντες τινὰς τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ ⸂ὅτι κοιναῖς χερσίν, τοῦτ’ ἔστιν ἀνίπτοις, ἐσθίουσιν⸃ ⸀τοὺς ⸀ἄρτους—
Avendo visto che alcuni dei suoi discepoli prendevano cibo con mani impure, cioè non lavate -
They saw that some of his disciples disciplesⓘ were eating with impure, that is, unwashed handsⓘ.

οἱ γὰρ Φαρισαῖοι καὶ πάντες οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι ἐὰν μὴ πυγμῇ νίψωνται τὰς χεῖρας οὐκ ἐσθίουσιν, κρατοῦντες τὴν παράδοσιν τῶν πρεσβυτέρων,
i farisei infatti e tutti i Giudei non mangiano se non si sono lavati accuratamente le mani, attenendosi alla tradizione degli antichi
For the Pharisees (perushim) and all the Jews do not eat unless they have carefully washed their hands, holding fast to the tradition of the elders (zeqenim)ⓘ —

καὶ ἀπ’ ⸀ἀγορᾶς ἐὰν μὴ ⸀βαπτίσωνται οὐκ ἐσθίουσιν, καὶ ἄλλα πολλά ἐστιν ἃ παρέλαβον κρατεῖν, βαπτισμοὺς ποτηρίων καὶ ξεστῶν καὶ χαλκίων ⸂καὶ κλινῶν⸃—
e, tornando dal mercato, non mangiano senza aver fatto le abluzioni... -,
and when they return from the marketplace they do not eat unless they immerse themselves in waterⓘ, and they observe many other washings of cups, pitchers, and copper vesselsⓘ. —

⸀καὶ ἐπερωτῶσιν αὐτὸν οἱ Φαρισαῖοι καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς· Διὰ τί ⸂οὐ περιπατοῦσιν οἱ μαθηταί σου⸃ κατὰ τὴν παράδοσιν τῶν πρεσβυτέρων, ἀλλὰ ⸀κοιναῖς χερσὶν ἐσθίουσιν τὸν ἄρτον;
quei farisei e scribi lo interrogarono: «Perché i tuoi discepoli non si comportano secondo la tradizione degli antichi, ma prendono cibo con mani impure?».
And the Pharisees (perushim) and the scribes (soferim) questioned him: «Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders (zeqenim)ⓘ, but eat bread with impure hands?».

ὁ ⸀δὲ εἶπεν ⸀αὐτοῖς· Καλῶς ἐπροφήτευσεν Ἠσαΐας περὶ ὑμῶν τῶν ὑποκριτῶν, ὡς γέγραπται ⸀ὅτι Οὗτος ὁ λαὸς τοῖς χείλεσίν με τιμᾷ, ἡ δὲ καρδία αὐτῶν πόρρω ἀπέχει ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ·
Ed egli rispose loro: «Bene ha profetato Isaia di voi, ipocriti, come sta scritto: Questo popolo mi onora con le labbra, ma il suo cuore è lontano da me.
And he said to them: «Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocritesⓘ, as it is writtenⓘ: This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from meⓘ;

μάτην δὲ σέβονταί με, διδάσκοντες διδασκαλίας ἐντάλματα ἀνθρώπων·
Invano mi rendono culto, insegnando dottrine che sono precetti di uomini.
in vain do they revere me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of menⓘ.

⸀ἀφέντες τὴν ἐντολὴν τοῦ θεοῦ κρατεῖτε τὴν παράδοσιν τῶν ⸀ἀνθρώπων.
Trascurando il comandamento di Dio, voi osservate la tradizione degli uomini».
Having abandoned the commandment of God, you hold fast to the tradition of menⓘ».

Καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· Καλῶς ἀθετεῖτε τὴν ἐντολὴν τοῦ θεοῦ, ἵνα τὴν παράδοσιν ὑμῶν ⸀τηρήσητε·
E diceva loro: «Siete abili nel rifiutare il comandamento di Dio per osservare la vostra tradizione.
And he said to them: «Well do you set aside the commandment of God in order to keep your own tradition.

Μωϋσῆς γὰρ εἶπεν· Τίμα τὸν πατέρα σου καὶ τὴν μητέρα σου, καί· Ὁ κακολογῶν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα θανάτῳ τελευτάτω·
Mosè infatti disse: Onora tuo padre e tua madre, e: Chi maledice il padre o la madre sia messo a morte.
For Moses said: Honor your father and your motherⓘ, and: Whoever curses father or mother let him be put to deathⓘ.

ὑμεῖς δὲ λέγετε· Ἐὰν εἴπῃ ἄνθρωπος τῷ πατρὶ ἢ τῇ μητρί· Κορβᾶν, ὅ ἐστιν Δῶρον, ὃ ἐὰν ἐξ ἐμοῦ ὠφεληθῇς,
Voi invece dite: Se uno dichiara al padre o alla madre: È korbàn, cioè offerta a Dio, quello che ti sarei dovuto dare,
But you say: if anyone declares to his father or mother korban, that is, a consecrated offeringⓘ whatever benefit he might have received from me,

⸀οὐκέτι ἀφίετε αὐτὸν οὐδὲν ποιῆσαι τῷ ⸀πατρὶ ἢ τῇ ⸀μητρί,
non gli consentite più di fare nulla per il padre o la madre.
you no longer let him do anything for his father or his mother,
13
ἀκυροῦντες τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ τῇ παραδόσει ὑμῶν ᾗ παρεδώκατε· καὶ παρόμοια τοιαῦτα πολλὰ ποιεῖτε.
Così annullate la parola di Dio con la tradizione che avete tramandato».
nullifying the word of God with the tradition that you have handed downⓘ; and you do many things like these».
