Τότε ἀπεκρίθησαν ⸀αὐτῷ τινες τῶν γραμματέων καὶ Φαρισαίων λέγοντες· Διδάσκαλε, θέλομεν ἀπὸ σοῦ σημεῖον ἰδεῖν.
Allora alcuni scribi e farisei gli dissero: «Maestro, vogliamo vedere da te un segno».
Then some scribes (soferim, the learned of the Torah) and Pharisees (perushim, the observant) answeredⓘ him, saying: «Teacher Teacherⓘ, we wish to see a sign (ot, the wonder demanded as proof) from you».

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Γενεὰ πονηρὰ καὶ μοιχαλὶς σημεῖον ἐπιζητεῖ, καὶ σημεῖον οὐ δοθήσεται αὐτῇ εἰ μὴ τὸ σημεῖον Ἰωνᾶ τοῦ προφήτου.
Ma egli rispose loro: «Una generazione malvagia e adultera cerca un segno, ma non le sarà dato altro segno che il segno di Giona il profeta.
But he answered them: «An evil and adulterousⓘ generation insistently seeks a sign (ot), and no sign shall be givenⓘ to it except the sign of Jonah (Yonah) the prophet.

ὥσπερ γὰρ ἦν Ἰωνᾶς ἐν τῇ κοιλίᾳ τοῦ κήτους τρεῖς ἡμέρας καὶ τρεῖς νύκτας, οὕτως ἔσται ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ τῆς γῆς τρεῖς ἡμέρας καὶ τρεῖς νύκτας.
Come infatti Giona rimase tre giorni e tre notti nel ventre del pesce, così il Figlio dell'uomo resterà tre giorni e tre notti nel cuore della terra.
For just as he was in the belly of the great fish three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man (Bar Enash, the figure of judgment of Daniel 7:13) be in the heart of the earth, in Sheol (she'ol, the abode of the dead) for as many three days and three nights: those days of Jonah are the typosⓘ, and the Son of Man truly descends there, not in appearance only.

ἄνδρες Νινευῖται ἀναστήσονται ἐν τῇ κρίσει μετὰ τῆς γενεᾶς ταύτης καὶ κατακρινοῦσιν αὐτήν· ὅτι μετενόησαν εἰς τὸ κήρυγμα Ἰωνᾶ, καὶ ἰδοὺ πλεῖον Ἰωνᾶ ὧδε.
Gli uomini di Ninive sorgeranno nel giudizio contro questa generazione e la condanneranno, perché essi si convertirono alla predicazione di Giona; ed ecco, qui c'è più di Giona.
Men of Nineveh (Niniveh, the gentiles who made teshuvah, return to the face of God, at the preaching of Jonah, Jonah 3) will rise in the judgment with this generation and condemnⓘ it, because they made teshuvah at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, here there is more than Jonah (Yonah).

βασίλισσα νότου ἐγερθήσεται ἐν τῇ κρίσει μετὰ τῆς γενεᾶς ταύτης καὶ κατακρινεῖ αὐτήν· ὅτι ἦλθεν ἐκ τῶν περάτων τῆς γῆς ἀκοῦσαι τὴν σοφίαν Σολομῶνος, καὶ ἰδοὺ πλεῖον Σολομῶνος ὧδε.
La regina del Sud sorgerà nel giudizio contro questa generazione e la condannerà, perché venne dai confini della terra per ascoltare la sapienza di Salomone; ed ecco, qui c'è più di Salomone.
The queen of the South — the queen of Sheba (1 Kings 10) — will riseⓘ with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom (chokhmah) of Solomon; and behold, here there is more than Solomon.

Ὅταν δὲ τὸ ἀκάθαρτον πνεῦμα ἐξέλθῃ ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου, διέρχεται δι’ ἀνύδρων τόπων ζητοῦν ἀνάπαυσιν, καὶ οὐχ εὑρίσκει.
Quando lo spirito impuro esce dall'uomo, vaga per luoghi aridi cercando riposo e non lo trova.
When the unclean spirit (ruach ha-tum'ah) goes out of a man, it wandersⓘ through arid placesⓘ seeking rest (menuchah), and finds none.

τότε λέγει· ⸂Εἰς τὸν οἶκόν μου ἐπιστρέψω⸃ ὅθεν ἐξῆλθον· καὶ ἐλθὸν ⸀εὑρίσκει ⸀σχολάζοντα σεσαρωμένον καὶ κεκοσμημένον.
Allora dice: «Tornerò nella mia casa, da dove sono uscito». E, venuto, la trova vuota, spazzata e adorna.
Then it says: «I will return to my house, from which I came out». And, having come, it finds it empty, swept and put in orderⓘ.

τότε πορεύεται καὶ παραλαμβάνει μεθ’ ἑαυτοῦ ἑπτὰ ἕτερα πνεύματα πονηρότερα ἑαυτοῦ, καὶ εἰσελθόντα κατοικεῖ ἐκεῖ· καὶ γίνεται τὰ ἔσχατα τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐκείνου χείρονα τῶν πρώτων. οὕτως ἔσται καὶ τῇ γενεᾷ ταύτῃ τῇ πονηρᾷ.
Allora va e prende con sé altri sette spiriti peggiori di lui, ed entrano e vi abitano; e la condizione ultima di quell'uomo diventa peggiore della prima. Così sarà anche di questa generazione malvagia».
Then it goes and takes with itself another seven spiritsⓘ more evil than itself, and having entered they dwell there; and the last things of that man become worse than the first. So will it also be for this evil generation».

Ἔτι ⸀δὲ αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος τοῖς ὄχλοις ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ εἱστήκεισαν ἔξω ζητοῦντες αὐτῷ λαλῆσαι.
Mentre egli parlava ancora alle folle, ecco sua madre e i suoi fratelli stavano fuori e cercavano di parlargli.
While he was still speakingⓘ to the crowdsⓘ, behold his mother and his brothersⓘ stood outside, seeking to speak to him.

⸂εἶπεν δέ τις αὐτῷ· Ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ σου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου ἔξω ἑστήκασιν, ζητοῦντές σοι λαλῆσαι.⸃
Qualcuno gli disse: «Ecco, tua madre e i tuoi fratelli stanno fuori e cercano di parlarti».
Someoneⓘ said to him: «Behold, your mother and your brothers stand outside, and they seek to speak to you».

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν τῷ ⸀λέγοντι αὐτῷ· Τίς ἐστιν ἡ μήτηρ μου, καὶ τίνες εἰσὶν οἱ ἀδελφοί μου;
Ma egli rispose a chi glielo diceva: «Chi è mia madre e chi sono i miei fratelli?».
But he answered the one who told him: «Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?».

καὶ ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ εἶπεν· Ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ μου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου·
E, stesa la mano verso i suoi discepoli, disse: «Ecco mia madre e i miei fratelli;
And, stretching out his handⓘ toward his disciplesⓘ, he said: «Behold my mother and my brothers!

ὅστις γὰρ ἂν ποιήσῃ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν οὐρανοῖς, αὐτός μου ἀδελφὸς καὶ ἀδελφὴ καὶ μήτηρ ἐστίν.
poiché chiunque fa la volontà del Padre mio che è nei cieli, egli è per me fratello, sorella e madre».
For whoever does the will (ratzon) of my Father who is in Heavenⓘ, this one is for me brother and sister and mother».
