1
GreekἘν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ὥρᾳ προσῆλθον οἱ μαθηταὶ τῷ Ἰησοῦ λέγοντες· Τίς ἄρα μείζων ἐστὶν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν;
Orthodox ReadingAt that moment the disciples came to Jesus saying: «Who then is the greatestⓘ in the kingdom of heaven?».
2
Orthodox ReadingThen he called a child to himself, set him in their midst
32
Orthodox Readingand said: «Truly I say to you: unless you turn backⓘ and become like childrenⓘ, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
4
Orthodox ReadingTherefore whoever makes himself smallⓘ like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
51
Orthodox ReadingAnd whoever receives one such child in my nameⓘ, receives me.
6
Orthodox ReadingBut whoever causes to stumbleⓘ one of these little ones who believe in meⓘ, it would be better for him to have a millstoneⓘ hung around his neck and to be cast into the depths of the seaⓘ.
7
Orthodox ReadingWoe to the world for the scandals! It is inevitable that scandals come, but woe to the man through whom the scandal comes!
82
Orthodox ReadingIf your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and cast it away from you: it is better for you to enter lifeⓘ maimed or lame, than with two hands or two feet to be cast into the eternal fireⓘ.
9
Orthodox ReadingAnd if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and cast it away from you: it is better for you to enter life with one eye, than with two eyes to be cast into the Gehenna of fireⓘ.
101
Orthodox ReadingBeware of despising one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angelsⓘ in heaven always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.
121
Greekτί ὑμῖν δοκεῖ; ἐὰν γένηταί τινι ἀνθρώπῳ ἑκατὸν πρόβατα καὶ πλανηθῇ ἓν ἐξ αὐτῶν, οὐχὶ ⸀ἀφήσει τὰ ἐνενήκοντα ἐννέα ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη ⸀καὶ πορευθεὶς ζητεῖ τὸ πλανώμενον;
Orthodox ReadingWhat do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astrayⓘ, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go to seek the one that strayed?
13
Orthodox ReadingAnd if it happens that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that had not strayed.
14
Orthodox ReadingSo it is not the will of your Fatherⓘ who is in heaven, that even one of these little ones should be lost.
