Τότε ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἀνήχθη εἰς τὴν ἔρημον ὑπὸ τοῦ πνεύματος, πειρασθῆναι ὑπὸ τοῦ διαβόλου.
Allora Gesù fu condotto dallo Spirito nel deserto, per essere tentato dal diavolo.
Then Jesus was led into the wildernessⓘ by the Spirit, to be put to the testⓘ by the accuser.

καὶ νηστεύσας ἡμέρας τεσσεράκοντα καὶ νύκτας τεσσεράκοντα ὕστερον ἐπείνασεν.
Dopo aver digiunato quaranta giorni e quaranta notti, ebbe fame.
And, having completed the fast (the taanitⓘ, the ritual abstinence) for forty days and forty nightsⓘ, he became hungry.

καὶ προσελθὼν ⸂ὁ πειράζων εἶπεν αὐτῷ⸃· Εἰ υἱὸς εἶ τοῦ θεοῦ, εἰπὲ ἵνα οἱ λίθοι οὗτοι ἄρτοι γένωνται.
Il tentatore gli si avvicinò e gli disse: «Se sei Figlio di Dio, di' che queste pietre diventino pane».
And the tempterⓘ, drawing near, said to him: «If you are the Son of Godⓘ, command that these stonesⓘ become loavesⓘ».

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν· Γέγραπται· Οὐκ ἐπ’ ἄρτῳ μόνῳ ζήσεται ⸀ὁ ἄνθρωπος, ἀλλ’ ⸀ἐπὶ παντὶ ῥήματι ἐκπορευομένῳ διὰ στόματος θεοῦ.
Ma egli rispose: «Sta scritto: Non di solo pane vivrà l'uomo, ma di ogni parola che esce dalla bocca di Dio».
But he answered: «Not by bread alone shall man live, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God»ⓘ.

Τότε παραλαμβάνει αὐτὸν ὁ διάβολος εἰς τὴν ἁγίαν πόλιν, καὶ ⸀ἔστησεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸ πτερύγιον τοῦ ἱεροῦ,
Allora il diavolo lo portò nella città santa, lo pose sul pinnacolo del tempio
Then the accuser takes him to Yerushalayimⓘ, the holy city, and sets him on the pinnacle of the Temple (the miqdashⓘ, the sanctuary),

καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ· Εἰ υἱὸς εἶ τοῦ θεοῦ, βάλε σεαυτὸν κάτω· γέγραπται γὰρ ὅτι Τοῖς ἀγγέλοις αὐτοῦ ἐντελεῖται περὶ σοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ χειρῶν ἀροῦσίν σε, μήποτε προσκόψῃς πρὸς λίθον τὸν πόδα σου.
e gli disse: «Se sei Figlio di Dio, gettati giù; sta scritto infatti: Ai suoi angeli darà ordine a tuo riguardo, ed essi ti porteranno sulle mani perché il tuo piede non inciampi nella pietra».
and says to him: «If you are the Son of God, throw yourself downⓘ; for it is written: He will give his angels charge concerning youⓘ, and they will bear you up on their hands, so that your foot does not strike against the stoneⓘ».

ἔφη αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Πάλιν γέγραπται· Οὐκ ἐκπειράσεις κύριον τὸν θεόν σου.
Gesù gli rispose: «Sta scritto anche: Non metterai alla prova il Signore Dio tuo».
Jesus said to him: «You shall not put the Tetragrammaton your God to the test»ⓘ.

Πάλιν παραλαμβάνει αὐτὸν ὁ διάβολος εἰς ὄρος ὑψηλὸν λίαν, καὶ δείκνυσιν αὐτῷ πάσας τὰς βασιλείας τοῦ κόσμου καὶ τὴν δόξαν αὐτῶν
Di nuovo il diavolo lo portò su un monte altissimo e gli mostrò tutti i regni del mondo e la loro gloria,
Again the accuser takes him up onto an exceedingly high mountainⓘ and shows him all the kingdoms of the worldⓘ and their gloryⓘ,

καὶ ⸀εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ταῦτά ⸂σοι πάντα⸃ δώσω, ἐὰν πεσὼν προσκυνήσῃς μοι.
e gli disse: «Tutte queste cose ti darò, se prostrandoti mi adorerai».
and says to him: «All these things I will give you, if prostrating yourselfⓘ you will worshipⓘ me».

τότε λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· ⸀Ὕπαγε, Σατανᾶ· γέγραπται γάρ· Κύριον τὸν θεόν σου προσκυνήσεις καὶ αὐτῷ μόνῳ λατρεύσεις.
Allora Gesù gli disse: «Vattene, Satana! Sta scritto infatti: Il Signore Dio tuo adorerai, e a lui solo renderai culto».
Then Jesus says to him: «Begone, Satanⓘ!»; for it is written: «The Tetragrammaton your God you shall worship, and him alone you shall serve»ⓘ.

τότε ἀφίησιν αὐτὸν ὁ διάβολος, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄγγελοι προσῆλθον καὶ διηκόνουν αὐτῷ.
Allora il diavolo lo lasciò, ed ecco degli angeli si avvicinarono e lo servivano.
Then the accuser leaves him, and behold angelsⓘ came near and servedⓘ him.
