Προσέχετε ⸀δὲ τὴν ⸀δικαιοσύνην ὑμῶν μὴ ποιεῖν ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων πρὸς τὸ θεαθῆναι αὐτοῖς· εἰ δὲ μή γε, μισθὸν οὐκ ἔχετε παρὰ τῷ πατρὶ ὑμῶν τῷ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς.
State attenti a non praticare la vostra giustizia davanti agli uomini per essere ammirati da loro; altrimenti non avrete ricompensa presso il Padre vostro che è nei cieli.
Be careful not to practice your tzedakah righteousness-charityⓘ before men in order to be admired by them; otherwise you will have no reward with your Father who is in Heavenⓘ.

Ὅταν οὖν ποιῇς ἐλεημοσύνην, μὴ σαλπίσῃς ἔμπροσθέν σου, ὥσπερ οἱ ὑποκριταὶ ποιοῦσιν ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς καὶ ἐν ταῖς ῥύμαις, ὅπως δοξασθῶσιν ὑπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων· ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀπέχουσιν τὸν μισθὸν αὐτῶν.
Quando dunque fai l'elemosina, non suonare la tromba davanti a te, come fanno gli ipocriti nelle sinagoghe e nelle strade, per essere lodati dagli uomini. In verità vi dico: hanno già la loro ricompensa.
So when you perform a mitzvah commanded deedⓘ of tzedakah, almsgiving as gemilut chasadim act of chesedⓘ, do not sound the trumpet before you, as the pretendersⓘ do in the synagogue bet knessetⓘ and in the streets, to be praised by men. Truly I tell you: they have already received their reward.

σοῦ δὲ ποιοῦντος ἐλεημοσύνην μὴ γνώτω ἡ ἀριστερά σου τί ποιεῖ ἡ δεξιά σου,
Tu invece, quando fai l'elemosina, non sappia la tua sinistra ciò che fa la tua destra,
But you, when you give tzedakah, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

ὅπως ᾖ σου ἡ ἐλεημοσύνη ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ· καὶ ὁ πατήρ σου ὁ βλέπων ἐν τῷ ⸀κρυπτῷ ἀποδώσει ⸀σοι.
perché la tua elemosina resti nel segreto; e il Padre tuo, che vede nel segreto, ti ricompenserà.
so that your almsgiving may remain in secretⓘ; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

Καὶ ὅταν ⸂προσεύχησθε, οὐκ ἔσεσθε ὡς⸃ οἱ ὑποκριταί· ὅτι φιλοῦσιν ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς καὶ ἐν ταῖς γωνίαις τῶν πλατειῶν ἑστῶτες προσεύχεσθαι, ⸀ὅπως φανῶσιν τοῖς ἀνθρώποις· ἀμὴν λέγω ⸀ὑμῖν, ἀπέχουσι τὸν μισθὸν αὐτῶν.
E quando pregate, non siate come gli ipocriti che amano pregare stando in piedi nelle sinagoghe e agli angoli delle piazze, per essere visti dagli uomini. In verità vi dico: hanno già la loro ricompensa.
And when you recite the tefillah prayerⓘ, do not be like the pretenders who love to pray standing in the synagogue and at the corners of the squares — the posture of the Amidah standing uprightⓘ — to be seen by men. Truly I tell you: they have already received their reward.

σὺ δὲ ὅταν προσεύχῃ, εἴσελθε εἰς τὸ ταμεῖόν σου καὶ κλείσας τὴν θύραν σου πρόσευξαι τῷ πατρί σου τῷ ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ· καὶ ὁ πατήρ σου ὁ βλέπων ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ ἀποδώσει ⸀σοι.
Tu invece, quando preghi, entra nella tua camera, chiudi la porta e prega il Padre tuo nel segreto; e il Padre tuo, che vede nel segreto, ti ricompenserà.
But you, when you pray, enter your room, shut the door, and pray to your Father in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

Προσευχόμενοι δὲ μὴ βατταλογήσητε ὥσπερ οἱ ἐθνικοί, δοκοῦσιν γὰρ ὅτι ἐν τῇ πολυλογίᾳ αὐτῶν εἰσακουσθήσονται·
Pregando, non sprecate parole come i pagani, che credono di essere esauditi per la loro loquacità.
When praying, do not waste words like the goyimⓘ, who think they will be heard for their many words.

μὴ οὖν ὁμοιωθῆτε αὐτοῖς, οἶδεν γὰρ ⸀ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὧν χρείαν ἔχετε πρὸ τοῦ ὑμᾶς αἰτῆσαι αὐτόν.
Non siate dunque come loro, perché il Padre vostro sa di quali cose avete bisogno prima ancora che gliele chiediate.
Do not be like them, then, for your Father, in the emunah faithful trustⓘ to which he calls you, knows what things you need even before you ask him.

Οὕτως οὖν προσεύχεσθε ὑμεῖς· Πάτερ ἡμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς· ἁγιασθήτω τὸ ὄνομά σου,
Voi dunque pregate così: Padre nostro che sei nei cieli, sia santificato il tuo nome,
You, then, pray like this: Our Father who are in Heavenⓘ, hallowed be your Nameⓘ,

ἐλθέτω ἡ βασιλεία σου, γενηθήτω τὸ θέλημά σου, ὡς ἐν οὐρανῷ καὶ ⸀ἐπὶ γῆς·
venga il tuo regno, sia fatta la tua volontà, come in cielo così in terra.
may your Kingdomⓘ come, may your will be done, as in heaven so on earth.

τὸν ἄρτον ἡμῶν τὸν ἐπιούσιον δὸς ἡμῖν σήμερον·
Dacci oggi il nostro pane quotidiano,
Give us today our necessary breadⓘ;
12
καὶ ἄφες ἡμῖν τὰ ὀφειλήματα ἡμῶν, ὡς καὶ ἡμεῖς ⸀ἀφήκαμεν τοῖς ὀφειλέταις ἡμῶν·
e rimetti a noi i nostri debiti, come anche noi li rimettiamo ai nostri debitori,
and forgive us our debtsⓘ, as we also forgive our debtors,

καὶ μὴ εἰσενέγκῃς ἡμᾶς εἰς πειρασμόν, ἀλλὰ ῥῦσαι ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ τοῦ ⸀πονηροῦ.
e non abbandonarci alla tentazione, ma liberaci dal male.
and do not abandon usⓘ to the trialⓘ, but deliver us from the Evil Oneⓘ.

ἐὰν γὰρ ἀφῆτε τοῖς ἀνθρώποις τὰ παραπτώματα αὐτῶν, ἀφήσει καὶ ὑμῖν ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ οὐράνιος·
Se infatti perdonerete agli uomini le loro colpe, il Padre vostro celeste perdonerà anche a voi;
For if you forgive men their faults — the forgiveness that opens to teshuvah conversionⓘ —, your heavenly Father will forgive you also;

ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ἀφῆτε τοῖς ⸀ἀνθρώποις, οὐδὲ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ἀφήσει τὰ παραπτώματα ὑμῶν.
ma se non perdonerete agli uomini, neppure il Padre vostro perdonerà le vostre colpe.
but if you do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive your faults.

Ὅταν δὲ νηστεύητε, μὴ γίνεσθε ⸀ὡς οἱ ὑποκριταὶ σκυθρωποί, ἀφανίζουσιν γὰρ τὰ πρόσωπα αὐτῶν ὅπως φανῶσιν τοῖς ἀνθρώποις νηστεύοντες· ἀμὴν λέγω ⸀ὑμῖν, ἀπέχουσιν τὸν μισθὸν αὐτῶν.
Quando digiunate, non diventate tristi in volto come gli ipocriti, che si sfigurano la faccia per mostrare agli uomini che digiunano. In verità vi dico: hanno già la loro ricompensa.
When you observe the fast taanitⓘ, do not become gloomy in face like the pretendersⓘ, who disfigure their faces to show men that they are fasting. Truly I tell you: they have already received their reward.

σὺ δὲ νηστεύων ἄλειψαί σου τὴν κεφαλὴν καὶ τὸ πρόσωπόν σου νίψαι,
Tu invece, quando digiuni, ungiti il capo e lavati il volto,
But you, when you observe the taanit individual fastⓘ, anoint your head and wash your face suspended gesturesⓘ,

ὅπως μὴ φανῇς τοῖς ἀνθρώποις νηστεύων ἀλλὰ τῷ πατρί σου τῷ ἐν τῷ ⸀κρυφαίῳ· καὶ ὁ πατήρ σου ὁ βλέπων ἐν τῷ ⸁κρυφαίῳ ἀποδώσει σοι.
perché non gli uomini vedano che digiuni, ma il Padre tuo che è nel segreto; e il Padre tuo che vede nel segreto ti ricompenserà.
so that you may not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father in secretⓘ; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.
