וישלח יהושע בן נון מן השטים שנים אנשים מרגלים חרש לאמר לכו ראו את הארץ ואת יריחו וילכו ויבאו בית אשה זונה ושמה רחב וישכבו שמה
Καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ἰησοῦς υἱὸς Ναυη ἐκ Σαττιν δύο νεανίσκους κατασκοπεῦσαι λέγων Ἀνάβητε καὶ ἴδετε τὴν γῆν καὶ τὴν Ιεριχω. καὶ πορευθέντες εἰσήλθοσαν οἱ δύο νεανίσκοι εἰς Ιεριχω καὶ εἰσήλθοσαν εἰς οἰκίαν γυναικὸς πόρνης, ᾗ ὄνομα Ρααβ, καὶ κατέλυσαν ἐκεῖ.
And ⓘ son of Nun sent from ⓘ two men as ⓘ, saying: «Go, observe the land and ⓘ». And they went and entered the house of a prostitute woman — an ⓘ — named ⓘ, and there ⓘ.

ויאמר למלך יריחו לאמר הנה אנשים באו הנה הלילה מבני ישראל לחפר את הארץ
καὶ ἀπηγγέλη τῷ βασιλεῖ Ιεριχω λέγοντες Εἰσπεπόρευνται ὧδε ἄνδρες τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ κατασκοπεῦσαι τὴν γῆν.
And it was told to the king of Yerichò: «Behold, men from the children of Israel have come here tonight to ⓘ the land».

וישלח מלך יריחו אל רחב לאמר הוציאי האנשים הבאים אליך אשר באו לביתך כי לחפר את כל הארץ באו
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ιεριχω καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς Ρααβ λέγων Ἐξάγαγε τοὺς ἄνδρας τοὺς εἰσπεπορευμένους εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν σου τὴν νύκτα· κατασκοπεῦσαι γὰρ τὴν γῆν ἥκασιν.
And the king of Yerichò sent word to Rachàv: «Bring out the men who have come to you, who entered your house, for they have come to spy out the entire land».

ותקח האשה את שני האנשים ותצפנו ותאמר כן באו אלי האנשים ולא ידעתי מאין המה
καὶ λαβοῦσα ἡ γυνὴ τοὺς ἄνδρας ἔκρυψεν αὐτοὺς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς λέγουσα Εἰσεληλύθασιν πρός με οἱ ἄνδρες·
And the woman took the two men and hid them, and said: «Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from;

ויהי השער לסגור בחשך והאנשים יצאו לא ידעתי אנה הלכו האנשים רדפו מהר אחריהם כי תשיגום
ὡς δὲ ἡ πύλη ἐκλείετο ἐν τῷ σκότει, καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες ἐξῆλθον· οὐκ ἐπίσταμαι ποῦ πεπόρευνται· καταδιώξατε ὀπίσω αὐτῶν, εἰ καταλήμψεσθε αὐτούς.
and when the gate was being closed, in the dark, the men went out — I do not know where they went. Pursue them quickly: you will overtake them».

והיא העלתם הגגה ותטמנם בפשתי העץ הערכות לה על הגג
αὐτὴ δὲ ἀνεβίβασεν αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ τὸ δῶμα καὶ ἔκρυψεν αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ λινοκαλάμῃ τῇ ἐστοιβασμένῃ αὐτῇ ἐπὶ τοῦ δώματος.
But she had brought them up to the roof and hidden them among the ⓘ arranged for her on the roof.

והאנשים רדפו אחריהם דרך הירדן על המעברות והשער סגרו אחרי כאשר יצאו הרדפים אחריהם
καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες κατεδίωξαν ὀπίσω αὐτῶν ὁδὸν τὴν ἐπὶ τοῦ Ιορδάνου ἐπὶ τὰς διαβάσεις, καὶ ἡ πύλη ἐκλείσθη. καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἐξήλθοσαν οἱ διώκοντες ὀπίσω αὐτῶν
And the men pursued them by the way of the ⓘ, toward the ⓘ, and the gate was shut after the pursuers had gone out.

והמה טרם ישכבון והיא עלתה עליהם על הגג
καὶ αὐτοὶ δὲ πρὶν ἢ κοιμηθῆναι αὐτούς, καὶ αὐτὴ ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὸ δῶμα πρὸς αὐτοὺς
And those had not yet lain down, and she came up to them on the roof

ותאמר אל האנשים ידעתי כי נתן יהוה לכם את הארץ וכי נפלה אימתכם עלינו וכי נמגו כל ישבי הארץ מפניכם
καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς Ἐπίσταμαι ὅτι δέδωκεν ὑμῖν κύριος τὴν γῆν, ἐπιπέπτωκεν γὰρ ὁ φόβος ὑμῶν ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς·
and said to the men: «I know that the ⓘ has given you the land, and that ⓘ has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land have ⓘ before you.

כי שמענו את אשר הוביש יהוה את מי ים סוף מפניכם בצאתכם ממצרים ואשר עשיתם לשני מלכי האמרי אשר בעבר הירדן לסיחן ולעוג אשר החרמתם אותם
ἀκηκόαμεν γὰρ ὅτι κατεξήρανεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς τὴν ἐρυθρὰν θάλασσαν ἀπὸ προσώπου ὑμῶν, ὅτε ἐξεπορεύεσθε ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου, καὶ ὅσα ἐποίησεν τοῖς δυσὶ βασιλεῦσιν τῶν Αμορραίων, οἳ ἦσαν πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου, τῷ Σηων καὶ Ωγ, οὓς ἐξωλεθρεύσατε αὐτούς·
For we have heard how the ⓘ dried up the waters of ⓘ before you when you came out of ⓘ, and what you did to the two kings of the ⓘ beyond the Yardèn, to Sichòn and to ʿOg, whom you ⓘ.

ונשמע וימס לבבנו ולא קמה עוד רוח באיש מפניכם כי יהוה אלהיכם הוא אלהים בשמים ממעל ועל הארץ מתחת
καὶ ἀκούσαντες ἡμεῖς ἐξέστημεν τῇ καρδίᾳ ἡμῶν, καὶ οὐκ ἔστη ἔτι πνεῦμα ἐν οὐδενὶ ἡμῶν ἀπὸ προσώπου ὑμῶν, ὅτι κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν θεὸς ἐν οὐρανῷ ἄνω καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς κάτω.
And we heard, and our hearts melted, and no ⓘ remained in any man before you: for the ⓘ your God, he is God in the heavens above and on the earth below.

ועתה השבעו נא לי ביהוה כי עשיתי עמכם חסד ועשיתם גם אתם עם בית אבי חסד ונתתם לי אות אמת
καὶ νῦν ὀμόσατέ μοι κύριον τὸν θεόν, ὅτι ποιῶ ὑμῖν ἔλεος καὶ ποιήσετε καὶ ὑμεῖς ἔλεος ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρός μου
And now swear to me, I pray, by the ⓘ: since I have done ⓘ with you, do also chesed with the house of my father, and give me a ⓘ.

והחיתם את אבי ואת אמי ואת אחי ואת אחותי אחיותי ואת כל אשר להם והצלתם את נפשתינו ממות
καὶ ζωγρήσετε τὸν οἶκον τοῦ πατρός μου καὶ τὴν μητέρα μου καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφούς μου καὶ πάντα τὸν οἶκόν μου καὶ πάντα, ὅσα ἐστὶν αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἐξελεῖσθε τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐκ θανάτου.
And you will let live my father, my mother, my brothers and my sister and all that is theirs, and you will deliver our souls from death».

ויאמרו לה האנשים נפשנו תחתיכם למות אם לא תגידו את דברנו זה והיה בתת יהוה לנו את הארץ ועשינו עמך חסד ואמת
καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῇ οἱ ἄνδρες Ἡ ψυχὴ ἡμῶν ἀνθ’ ὑμῶν εἰς θάνατον. καὶ αὐτὴ εἶπεν Ὡς ἂν παραδῷ κύριος ὑμῖν τὴν πόλιν, ποιήσετε εἰς ἐμὲ ἔλεος καὶ ἀλήθειαν.
And the men said to her: «Our soul in place of yours, unto death, if you do not reveal this matter of ours; and when the ⓘ gives us the land, we will do ⓘ with you».

ותורדם בחבל בעד החלון כי ביתה בקיר החומה ובחומה היא יושבת
καὶ κατεχάλασεν αὐτοὺς διὰ τῆς θυρίδος
And she lowered them by a rope through the window, for her house was ⓘ, and she dwelt in the wall.
16
ותאמר להם ההרה לכו פן יפגעו בכם הרדפים ונחבתם שמה שלשת ימים עד שוב הרדפים ואחר תלכו לדרככם
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Εἰς τὴν ὀρεινὴν ἀπέλθετε, μὴ συναντήσωσιν ὑμῖν οἱ καταδιώκοντες, καὶ κρυβήσεσθε ἐκεῖ τρεῖς ἡμέρας, ἕως ἂν ἀποστρέψωσιν οἱ καταδιώκοντες ὀπίσω ὑμῶν, καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ἀπελεύσεσθε εἰς τὴν ὁδὸν ὑμῶν.
And she said to them: «Go toward the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you, and hide yourselves there three days until the pursuers return, and afterward you may go your way».

ויאמרו אליה האנשים נקים אנחנו משבעתך הזה אשר השבעתנו
καὶ εἶπαν οἱ ἄνδρες πρὸς αὐτήν Ἀθῷοί ἐσμεν τῷ ὅρκῳ σου τούτῳ·
And the men said to her: «We will be free of this your oath that you have made us swear,

הנה אנחנו באים בארץ את תקות חוט השני הזה תקשרי בחלון אשר הורדתנו בו ואת אביך ואת אמך ואת אחיך ואת כל בית אביך תאספי אליך הביתה
ἰδοὺ ἡμεῖς εἰσπορευόμεθα εἰς μέρος τῆς πόλεως, καὶ θήσεις τὸ σημεῖον, τὸ σπαρτίον τὸ κόκκινον τοῦτο ἐκδήσεις εἰς τὴν θυρίδα, δι’ ἧς κατεβίβασας ἡμᾶς δι’ αὐτῆς, τὸν δὲ πατέρα σου καὶ τὴν μητέρα σου καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου καὶ πάντα τὸν οἶκον τοῦ πατρός σου συνάξεις πρὸς σεαυτὴν εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν σου.
behold: when we come into the land, you shall tie the ⓘ to the window through which you lowered us, and your father, your mother, your brothers and all your father's household you shall gather to yourself in the house.

והיה כל אשר יצא מדלתי ביתך החוצה דמו בראשו ואנחנו נקים וכל אשר יהיה אתך בבית דמו בראשנו אם יד תהיה בו
καὶ ἔσται πᾶς, ὃς ἂν ἐξέλθῃ τὴν θύραν τῆς οἰκίας σου ἔξω, ἔνοχος ἑαυτῷ ἔσται, ἡμεῖς δὲ ἀθῷοι τῷ ὅρκῳ σου τούτῳ· καὶ ὅσοι ἐὰν γένωνται μετὰ σοῦ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ σου, ἡμεῖς ἔνοχοι ἐσόμεθα.
And it shall be: whoever goes out from the doors of your house into the street, his ⓘ, and we free; and whoever is with you in the house, his blood upon our head if a hand is laid upon him.
20
ואם תגידי את דברנו זה והיינו נקים משבעתך אשר השבעתנו
ἐὰν δέ τις ἡμᾶς ἀδικήσῃ ἢ καὶ ἀποκαλύψῃ τοὺς λόγους ἡμῶν τούτους, ἐσόμεθα ἀθῷοι τῷ ὅρκῳ σου τούτῳ.
And if you reveal this our matter, we will be free of your oath that you have made us swear.

ותאמר כדבריכם כן הוא ותשלחם וילכו ותקשר את תקות השני בחלון
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα ὑμῶν οὕτως ἔστω· καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν αὐτούς.
And she said: «According to your words, so be it». And she sent them away, and they went; and she tied the scarlet cord to the window.

וילכו ויבאו ההרה וישבו שם שלשת ימים עד שבו הרדפים ויבקשו הרדפים בכל הדרך ולא מצאו
καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν καὶ ἤλθοσαν εἰς τὴν ὀρεινὴν καὶ κατέμειναν ἐκεῖ τρεῖς ἡμέρας· καὶ ἐξεζήτησαν οἱ καταδιώκοντες πάσας τὰς ὁδοὺς καὶ οὐχ εὕροσαν.
And they went and came to the mountain and remained there three days, until the pursuers returned; and the pursuers searched along the entire way and did not find them.

וישבו שני האנשים וירדו מההר ויעברו ויבאו אל יהושע בן נון ויספרו לו את כל המצאות אותם
καὶ ὑπέστρεψαν οἱ δύο νεανίσκοι καὶ κατέβησαν ἐκ τοῦ ὄρους καὶ διέβησαν πρὸς Ἰησοῦν υἱὸν Ναυη καὶ διηγήσαντο αὐτῷ πάντα τὰ συμβεβηκότα αὐτοῖς.
And the two men returned and came down from the mountain, and crossed over and came to Yehoshùa son of Nun, and they told him everything that had happened to them.

ויאמרו אל יהושע כי נתן יהוה בידנו את כל הארץ וגם נמגו כל ישבי הארץ מפנינו
καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς Ἰησοῦν ὅτι Παρέδωκεν κύριος πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν ἐν χειρὶ ἡμῶν, καὶ κατέπτηκεν πᾶς ὁ κατοικῶν τὴν γῆν ἐκείνην ἀφ’ ἡμῶν.
And they said to Yehoshùa: «For the ⓘ has delivered into our hand the entire land, and all the inhabitants of the land have also melted away before us».
