ἔδει δὲ αὐτὸν διέρχεσθαι διὰ τῆς Σαμαρείας.
Doveva attraversare la Samaria.
But he had to pass through Samariaⓘ.

ἔρχεται οὖν εἰς πόλιν τῆς Σαμαρείας λεγομένην Συχὰρ πλησίον τοῦ χωρίου ὃ ἔδωκεν Ἰακὼβ ⸀τῷ Ἰωσὴφ τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ·
Giunse così a una città della Samaria chiamata Sicar, vicina al terreno che Giacobbe aveva dato a Giuseppe suo figlio:
He comes therefore to a city of Samaria called Sycharⓘ, near the plot of ground that Yaʿaqov gave to Yosef his sonⓘ.

ἦν δὲ ἐκεῖ πηγὴ τοῦ Ἰακώβ. ὁ οὖν Ἰησοῦς κεκοπιακὼς ἐκ τῆς ὁδοιπορίας ἐκαθέζετο οὕτως ἐπὶ τῇ πηγῇ· ὥρα ἦν ⸀ὡς ἕκτη.
qui c'era un pozzo di Giacobbe. Gesù dunque, affaticato per il viaggio, sedeva presso il pozzo. Era circa mezzogiorno.
The spring of Yaʿaqov (Beʾer Yaʿaqov) was there. Yeshua therefore, wearied from the journeyⓘ, was sitting thus by the springⓘ; it was about the sixth hourⓘ.

Ἔρχεται γυνὴ ἐκ τῆς Σαμαρείας ἀντλῆσαι ὕδωρ. λέγει αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Δός μοι πεῖν·
Giunge una donna samaritana ad attingere acqua. Le dice Gesù: «Dammi da bere».
A woman comes from Samaria to draw waterⓘ. Yeshua says to her: «Give me to drink»;

λέγει οὖν αὐτῷ ἡ γυνὴ ἡ Σαμαρῖτις· Πῶς σὺ Ἰουδαῖος ὢν παρ’ ἐμοῦ πεῖν αἰτεῖς ⸂γυναικὸς Σαμαρίτιδος οὔσης⸃; οὐ γὰρ συγχρῶνται Ἰουδαῖοι Σαμαρίταις.
Allora la donna samaritana gli dice: «Come mai tu, che sei giudeo, chiedi da bere a me, che sono una donna samaritana?». I Giudei infatti non hanno rapporti con i Samaritani.
The shomronit woman says to him therefore: «How is it that you, being a Jew (Yehudi) by ethno-religious belonging, ask a drink of me, being a Samaritan woman (shomronit)ⓘ?». For the Jews (yehudim) have no dealings of common use with the Samaritansⓘ.

ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ· Εἰ ᾔδεις τὴν δωρεὰν τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τίς ἐστιν ὁ λέγων σοι· Δός μοι πεῖν, σὺ ἂν ᾔτησας αὐτὸν καὶ ἔδωκεν ἄν σοι ὕδωρ ζῶν.
Gesù le risponde: «Se tu conoscessi il dono di Dio e chi è colui che ti dice: Dammi da bere!, tu avresti chiesto a lui ed egli ti avrebbe dato acqua viva».
Yeshua answered and said to her: «If you knew the gift of Godⓘ and who it is that says to you: Give me to drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water (mayim chayyim)».

ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ· Πᾶς ὁ πίνων ἐκ τοῦ ὕδατος τούτου διψήσει πάλιν·
Gesù le risponde: «Chiunque beve di quest'acqua avrà di nuovo sete;
Yeshua answered and said to her: «Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst againⓘ;

ὃς δ’ ἂν πίῃ ἐκ τοῦ ὕδατος οὗ ἐγὼ δώσω αὐτῷ, οὐ μὴ ⸀διψήσει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, ἀλλὰ τὸ ὕδωρ ὃ δώσω αὐτῷ γενήσεται ἐν αὐτῷ πηγὴ ὕδατος ἁλλομένου εἰς ζωὴν αἰώνιον.
ma chi berrà dell'acqua che io gli darò, non avrà più sete in eterno. Anzi, l'acqua che io gli darò diventerà in lui una sorgente d'acqua che zampilla per la vita eterna».
but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst forever: rather, the water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal lifeⓘ».

λέγει αὐτῷ ἡ γυνή· Κύριε, θεωρῶ ὅτι προφήτης εἶ σύ.
Gli dice la donna: «Signore, vedo che tu sei un profeta!
The woman says to him: «Lord, I see that you are a prophet (navi)ⓘ.
20
οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν ἐν τῷ ὄρει τούτῳ προσεκύνησαν· καὶ ὑμεῖς λέγετε ὅτι ἐν Ἱεροσολύμοις ἐστὶν ὁ τόπος ὅπου ⸂προσκυνεῖν δεῖ⸃.
I nostri padri hanno adorato su questo monte; voi invece dite che è a Gerusalemme il luogo in cui bisogna adorare».
Our fathers worshipped on this mountain, by the Temple on Gerizim (har Gerizim)ⓘ; and you say that the Temple of Yerushalayimⓘ is the place where one must worship».

λέγει αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· ⸂Πίστευέ μοι, γύναι⸃, ὅτι ἔρχεται ὥρα ὅτε οὔτε ἐν τῷ ὄρει τούτῳ οὔτε ἐν Ἱεροσολύμοις προσκυνήσετε τῷ πατρί.
Gesù le dice: «Credimi, donna, viene l'ora in cui né su questo monte né a Gerusalemme adorerete il Padre.
Yeshua says to her: «Believe me, womanⓘ, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Yerushalayim will you worship the Father (ha-Av).

ὑμεῖς προσκυνεῖτε ὃ οὐκ οἴδατε, ἡμεῖς προσκυνοῦμεν ὃ οἴδαμεν, ὅτι ἡ σωτηρία ἐκ τῶν Ἰουδαίων ἐστίν·
Voi adorate ciò che non conoscete, noi adoriamo ciò che conosciamo, perché la salvezza viene dai Giudei.
You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews (yehudim)ⓘ.

ἀλλὰ ἔρχεται ὥρα καὶ νῦν ἐστιν, ὅτε οἱ ἀληθινοὶ προσκυνηταὶ προσκυνήσουσιν τῷ πατρὶ ἐν πνεύματι καὶ ἀληθείᾳ, καὶ γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ τοιούτους ζητεῖ τοὺς προσκυνοῦντας αὐτόν·
Ma viene l'ora — ed è questa — in cui i veri adoratori adoreranno il Padre in spirito e verità; così infatti il Padre vuole che siano quelli che lo adorano.
But the hour is coming — and is now — when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truthⓘ; for the Father seeks such worshippers of his.

πνεῦμα ὁ θεός, καὶ τοὺς προσκυνοῦντας αὐτὸν ἐν πνεύματι καὶ ἀληθείᾳ δεῖ προσκυνεῖν.
Dio è spirito, e quelli che lo adorano devono adorare in spirito e verità».
God is Spiritⓘ, and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and truth».

λέγει αὐτῷ ἡ γυνή· Οἶδα ὅτι Μεσσίας ἔρχεται, ὁ λεγόμενος χριστός· ὅταν ἔλθῃ ἐκεῖνος, ἀναγγελεῖ ἡμῖν ⸀ἅπαντα.
Gli rispose la donna: «So che deve venire il Messia, chiamato Cristo: quando egli verrà, ci annuncerà ogni cosa».
The woman says to him: «I know that the Mashiachⓘ is coming, called the Christ (the anointed, ha-mashiach); when he comes, he will announce to us all things».

λέγει αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ἐγώ εἰμι, ὁ λαλῶν σοι.
Le dice Gesù: «Sono io, che parlo con te».
Yeshua says to her: «I am he, the one speaking to youⓘ».
28
ἀφῆκεν οὖν τὴν ὑδρίαν αὐτῆς ἡ γυνὴ καὶ ἀπῆλθεν εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ λέγει τοῖς ἀνθρώποις·
La donna intanto lasciò la sua anfora, andò in città e disse alla gente:
The woman therefore left her water jar, and went into the city and says to the men:

Δεῦτε ἴδετε ἄνθρωπον ὃς εἶπέ μοι πάντα ⸀ὅσα ἐποίησα· μήτι οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ χριστός;
«Venite a vedere un uomo che mi ha detto tutto quello che ho fatto. Che sia lui il Cristo?».
«Come, see a manⓘ who told me everything that I have done: can this be the Christ, the Mashiach (the anointed)?».

Ἐκ δὲ τῆς πόλεως ἐκείνης πολλοὶ ἐπίστευσαν εἰς αὐτὸν τῶν Σαμαριτῶν διὰ τὸν λόγον τῆς γυναικὸς μαρτυρούσης ὅτι Εἶπέν μοι πάντα ⸀ἃ ἐποίησα.
Molti Samaritani di quella città credettero in lui per le parole della donna.
From that city many of the Samaritans (shomronim) believed in him on account of the word of the woman who testifiedⓘ: «He told me everything that I have done».

τῇ τε γυναικὶ ἔλεγον ὅτι Οὐκέτι διὰ τὴν σὴν λαλιὰν πιστεύομεν· αὐτοὶ γὰρ ἀκηκόαμεν, καὶ οἴδαμεν ὅτι οὗτός ἐστιν ἀληθῶς ὁ σωτὴρ τοῦ ⸀κόσμου.
E alla donna dicevano: «Non è più per i tuoi discorsi che noi crediamo, ma perché noi stessi abbiamo udito e sappiamo che questi è veramente il salvatore del mondo».
and they said to the woman: «No longer because of your speaking do we believe, for we ourselves have heard and know that this man is truly the Savior of the worldⓘ».
