Greekκαὶ ἠρώτησαν αὐτὸν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ λέγοντες· Ῥαββί, τίς ἥμαρτεν, οὗτος ἢ οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῦ, ἵνα τυφλὸς γεννηθῇ;
Orthodox ReadingAnd his disciplesⓘ questioned him saying: «Rabbiⓘ, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blindⓘ?».

Greekἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς· Οὔτε οὗτος ἥμαρτεν οὔτε οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῦ, ἀλλ’ ἵνα φανερωθῇ τὰ ἔργα τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν αὐτῷ.
Orthodox ReadingJesus answered: «Neither this man sinned nor his parentsⓘ, but that the works of God might be manifested in himⓘ.

Greek⸀ἡμᾶς δεῖ ἐργάζεσθαι τὰ ἔργα τοῦ πέμψαντός με ἕως ἡμέρα ἐστίν· ἔρχεται νὺξ ὅτε οὐδεὶς δύναται ἐργάζεσθαι.

Greekταῦτα εἰπὼν ἔπτυσεν χαμαὶ καὶ ἐποίησεν πηλὸν ἐκ τοῦ πτύσματος, καὶ ⸀ἐπέχρισεν ⸀αὐτοῦ τὸν πηλὸν ἐπὶ τοὺς ⸀ὀφθαλμούς,

Greekκαὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ὕπαγε νίψαι εἰς τὴν κολυμβήθραν τοῦ Σιλωάμ (ὃ ἑρμηνεύεται Ἀπεσταλμένος). ἀπῆλθεν οὖν καὶ ἐνίψατο, καὶ ἦλθεν βλέπων.
Orthodox Readingand said to him: «Goⓘ, wash yourselfⓘ in the pool of Siloamⓘ» (which is translated «Sent»ⓘ). He went therefore and washed, and returned seeingⓘ.

Greekοἱ οὖν γείτονες καὶ οἱ θεωροῦντες αὐτὸν τὸ πρότερον ὅτι ⸀προσαίτης ἦν ἔλεγον· Οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ καθήμενος καὶ προσαιτῶν;
Orthodox ReadingThe neighbors therefore and those who had seen him before, that he was a beggarⓘ, said: «Is this not the one who used to sit and beg?».

Greekἄλλοι ἔλεγον ὅτι Οὗτός ἐστιν· ἄλλοι ⸂ἔλεγον· Οὐχί, ἀλλὰ⸃ ὅμοιος αὐτῷ ἐστιν. ἐκεῖνος ἔλεγεν ὅτι Ἐγώ εἰμι.
Orthodox ReadingOthers said: «It is he»; others said: «No, but he resembles him». He kept saying: «It is Iⓘ».

Greekἔλεγον οὖν αὐτῷ· ⸀Πῶς ἠνεῴχθησάν σου οἱ ὀφθαλμοί;

Greekἀπεκρίθη ⸀ἐκεῖνος· ⸂Ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ⸃ λεγόμενος Ἰησοῦς πηλὸν ἐποίησεν καὶ ἐπέχρισέν μου τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς καὶ εἶπέν μοι ⸀ὅτι Ὕπαγε εἰς ⸀τὸν Σιλωὰμ καὶ νίψαι· ἀπελθὼν ⸀οὖν καὶ νιψάμενος ἀνέβλεψα.
Orthodox ReadingHe answered: «The man called Jesusⓘ made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me: «Go to Siloam and wash yourself»; having gone therefore and having washed myself, I recovered my sightⓘ».

Greek⸂καὶ εἶπαν⸃ αὐτῷ· Ποῦ ἐστιν ἐκεῖνος; λέγει· Οὐκ οἶδα.
