Καὶ ἐκπορευομένου αὐτοῦ εἰς ὁδὸν προσδραμὼν εἷς καὶ γονυπετήσας αὐτὸν ἐπηρώτα αὐτόν· Διδάσκαλε ἀγαθέ, τί ποιήσω ἵνα ζωὴν αἰώνιον κληρονομήσω;
Mentre andava per la strada, un tale gli corse incontro e, inginocchiatosi, gli domandò: «Maestro buono, che cosa devo fare per avere in eredità la vita eterna?».
And as he was going out on the wayⓘ, a certain man ran up to him and kneltⓘ and asked him: «Good teacherⓘ, what shall I do to inherit eternal lifeⓘ?».

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Τί με λέγεις ἀγαθόν; οὐδεὶς ἀγαθὸς εἰ μὴ εἷς ὁ θεός.
Gesù gli disse: «Perché mi chiami buono? Nessuno è buono, se non Dio solo.
And Jesus said to him: «Why do you call me good? No one is good except God aloneⓘ.

τὰς ἐντολὰς οἶδας· Μὴ ⸂φονεύσῃς, Μὴ μοιχεύσῃς⸃, Μὴ κλέψῃς, Μὴ ψευδομαρτυρήσῃς, Μὴ ἀποστερήσῃς, Τίμα τὸν πατέρα σου καὶ τὴν μητέρα.
Tu conosci i comandamenti: Non uccidere, non commettere adulterio, non rubare, non testimoniare il falso, non frodare, onora tuo padre e tua madre».
The commandmentsⓘ you know: do not murder, do not commit adulteryⓘ, do not steal, do not bear false witness, do not defraudⓘ, honor your father and your motherⓘ».

ὁ δὲ ⸀ἔφη αὐτῷ· Διδάσκαλε, ταῦτα πάντα ἐφυλαξάμην ἐκ νεότητός μου.
Egli allora gli disse: «Maestro, tutte queste cose le ho osservate fin dalla mia giovinezza».
And he affirmedⓘ to him: «Teacher, all these things I have observed from my youthⓘ».

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἐμβλέψας αὐτῷ ἠγάπησεν αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἕν ⸀σε ὑστερεῖ· ὕπαγε ὅσα ἔχεις πώλησον καὶ δὸς ⸀τοῖς πτωχοῖς, καὶ ἕξεις θησαυρὸν ἐν οὐρανῷ, καὶ δεῦρο ἀκολούθει ⸀μοι.
Allora Gesù fissò lo sguardo su di lui, lo amò e gli disse: «Una cosa sola ti manca: va', vendi quello che hai e dallo ai poveri, e avrai un tesoro in cielo; e vieni! Seguimi!».
And Jesus, looking intently at him, loved himⓘ, said to him: «One thing you lack: go, sell what you have and give it to the poorⓘ, and you will have a treasure in heavenⓘ, and come, follow meⓘ».

ὁ δὲ στυγνάσας ἐπὶ τῷ λόγῳ ἀπῆλθεν λυπούμενος, ἦν γὰρ ἔχων κτήματα πολλά.
Ma a queste parole egli si fece scuro in volto e se ne andò rattristato; possedeva infatti molti beni.
But he, his face fallenⓘ, went away grievedⓘ: for he had many possessionsⓘ.

Καὶ περιβλεψάμενος ὁ Ἰησοῦς λέγει τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ· Πῶς δυσκόλως οἱ τὰ χρήματα ἔχοντες εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ εἰσελεύσονται.
«Quanto è difficile, per quelli che possiedono ricchezze, entrare nel regno di Dio!».
And Jesus, looking aroundⓘ, says to his disciplesⓘ: «How hardly will those who have riches enter the Kingdom of Godⓘ!».

εὐκοπώτερόν ἐστιν κάμηλον διὰ ⸂τῆς τρυμαλιᾶς τῆς⸃ ῥαφίδος ⸀διελθεῖν ἢ πλούσιον εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ εἰσελθεῖν.
È più facile che un cammello passi per la cruna di un ago, che un ricco entri nel regno di Dio».
It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needleⓘ than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God».
