Ἐν ἐκείναις ταῖς ἡμέραις ⸂πάλιν πολλοῦ⸃ ὄχλου ὄντος καὶ μὴ ἐχόντων τί φάγωσιν, ⸀προσκαλεσάμενος τοὺς ⸀μαθητὰς λέγει αὐτοῖς·
In quei giorni, essendoci di nuovo molta folla che non aveva da mangiare, chiamò a sé i discepoli e disse loro:
In those daysⓘ, there being again a great crowd of am ha-aretz (the non-observant common folk, not ḥaverim) who had nothing to eat, having called his disciples disciplesⓘ to himself, he said to them:

Σπλαγχνίζομαι ἐπὶ τὸν ὄχλον ὅτι ἤδη ἡμέραι τρεῖς προσμένουσίν μοι καὶ οὐκ ἔχουσιν τί φάγωσιν·
«Sento compassione per la folla, perché già da tre giorni stanno con me e non hanno da mangiare.
«I have compassionⓘ toward this crowd, because already for three daysⓘ they remain with meⓘ and have nothing to eat.

καὶ ἐὰν ἀπολύσω αὐτοὺς νήστεις εἰς οἶκον αὐτῶν, ἐκλυθήσονται ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ· ⸂καί τινες⸃ αὐτῶν ⸀ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ⸀ἥκασιν.
Se li rimando digiuni alle loro case, verranno meno lungo il cammino; e alcuni di loro sono venuti da lontano».
And if I send them away to their homes fastingⓘ, they will grow faintⓘ along the way; and some of them have come from afarⓘ».

καὶ ⸀ἠρώτα αὐτούς· Πόσους ἔχετε ἄρτους; οἱ δὲ εἶπαν· Ἑπτά.
Domandò loro: «Quanti pani avete?». Dissero: «Sette».
And he asked them: «How many loaves do you haveⓘ?». They said: «Sevenⓘ».

καὶ ⸀παραγγέλλει τῷ ὄχλῳ ἀναπεσεῖν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς· καὶ λαβὼν τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἄρτους εὐχαριστήσας ἔκλασεν καὶ ἐδίδου τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ἵνα ⸀παρατιθῶσιν καὶ παρέθηκαν τῷ ὄχλῳ.
Ordinò alla folla di sedersi per terra. Prese i sette pani, rese grazie, li spezzò e li dava ai suoi discepoli perché li distribuissero; ed essi li distribuirono alla folla.
And he commanded the crowd to reclineⓘ on the ground; and taking the seven loaves, he gave thanks with the berakhahⓘ — a domestic gesture of the master of the house at table, not a formalized sacramental rite —, he broke themⓘ and gave them to his disciples to distribute; and they distributed them to the crowd.

⸂καὶ ἔφαγον⸃ καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν, καὶ ἦραν περισσεύματα κλασμάτων ἑπτὰ σπυρίδας.
Mangiarono a sazietà e portarono via i pezzi avanzati: sette sporte.
And they ate and were satisfiedⓘ, and they gathered up the leftover piecesⓘ: seven basketsⓘ.

ἦσαν ⸀δὲ ὡς τετρακισχίλιοι. καὶ ἀπέλυσεν αὐτούς.
Erano circa quattromila. E li congedò.
And there were about four thousandⓘ. And he sent them awayⓘ.
