Τότε προσελθὼν ⸂αὐτῷ ὁ Πέτρος εἶπεν⸃· Κύριε, ποσάκις ἁμαρτήσει εἰς ἐμὲ ὁ ἀδελφός μου καὶ ἀφήσω αὐτῷ; ἕως ἑπτάκις;
Allora Pietro gli si avvicinò e gli disse: «Signore, quante volte dovrò perdonare al mio fratello, se pecca contro di me? Fino a sette volte?».
Then Peter, approaching him, said: «Lord, how many times shall my brother sin against me and I shall forgive himⓘ? Up to seven timesⓘ?».

λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Οὐ λέγω σοι ἕως ἑπτάκις ἀλλὰ ἕως ἑβδομηκοντάκις ἑπτά.
E Gesù gli rispose: «Non ti dico fino a sette volte, ma fino a settanta volte sette.
Jesus says to him: «I do not tell you up to seven times, but up to seventy times sevenⓘ.

Διὰ τοῦτο ὡμοιώθη ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν ἀνθρώπῳ βασιλεῖ ὃς ἠθέλησεν συνᾶραι λόγον μετὰ τῶν δούλων αὐτοῦ·
A proposito di questo, il regno dei cieli è simile a un re che volle regolare i conti con i suoi servi.
For this reason the Kingdom of Heavenⓘ has been made likeⓘ a king, a man who wished to settle accountsⓘ with his servantsⓘ.

ἀρξαμένου δὲ αὐτοῦ συναίρειν ⸀προσηνέχθη ⸂αὐτῷ εἷς⸃ ὀφειλέτης μυρίων ταλάντων.
Aveva cominciato a regolare i conti, quando gli fu presentato un tale che gli doveva diecimila talenti.
Having begun, there was brought to him a debtor of ten thousand talentsⓘ.

μὴ ἔχοντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἀποδοῦναι ἐκέλευσεν αὐτὸν ὁ ⸀κύριος πραθῆναι καὶ τὴν ⸀γυναῖκα καὶ τὰ τέκνα καὶ πάντα ὅσα ⸀ἔχει καὶ ἀποδοθῆναι.
Poiché costui non era in grado di restituire, il padrone ordinò che fosse venduto lui con la moglie, i figli e quanto possedeva, e così saldasse il debito.
Since he had nothing with which to repay, the master ordered that he be sold with his wife and childrenⓘ, and so settle the debt.

πεσὼν οὖν ὁ δοῦλος προσεκύνει αὐτῷ λέγων· ⸀Μακροθύμησον ἐπ’ ⸀ἐμοί, καὶ πάντα ⸂ἀποδώσω σοι⸃.
Allora il servo, prostrato a terra, lo supplicava dicendo: Abbi pazienza con me e ti restituirò ogni cosa.
Prostrating himself, the servant threw himself at his feetⓘ saying: «Be longsufferingⓘ with me and I will repay you everything».

σπλαγχνισθεὶς δὲ ὁ κύριος τοῦ δούλου ἐκείνου ἀπέλυσεν αὐτόν, καὶ τὸ δάνειον ἀφῆκεν αὐτῷ.
Il padrone ebbe compassione di quel servo, lo lasciò andare e gli condonò il debito.
Moved in the bowels of mercyⓘ, the master released him and cancelled the loanⓘ.

ἐξελθὼν δὲ ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος εὗρεν ἕνα τῶν συνδούλων αὐτοῦ ὃς ὤφειλεν αὐτῷ ἑκατὸν δηνάρια, καὶ κρατήσας αὐτὸν ἔπνιγεν λέγων· ⸀Ἀπόδος εἴ τι ὀφείλεις.
Appena uscito, quel servo trovò uno dei suoi compagni, che gli doveva cento denari. Lo prese per il collo e lo soffocava, dicendo: Restituisci quello che devi!
Going out, that servant found one of his fellow-servants who owed him a hundred denariiⓘ, and seizing him he was throttling himⓘ saying: «Repay what you owe».

πεσὼν οὖν ὁ σύνδουλος ⸀αὐτοῦ παρεκάλει αὐτὸν λέγων· Μακροθύμησον ἐπ’ ⸀ἐμοί, καὶ ἀποδώσω σοι.
Il suo compagno, prostrato a terra, lo pregava dicendo: Abbi pazienza con me e ti restituirò.
Prostrating himself, the fellow-servant implored him: «Be longsuffering with me and I will repay you».

ὁ δὲ οὐκ ἤθελεν, ἀλλὰ ἀπελθὼν ἔβαλεν αὐτὸν εἰς φυλακὴν ἕως ⸀οὗ ἀποδῷ τὸ ὀφειλόμενον.
Ma egli non volle, andò e lo fece gettare in prigione, fino a che non avesse pagato il debito.
He, however, would not, but threw him into prisonⓘ until he should pay.

ἰδόντες ⸀οὖν οἱ σύνδουλοι αὐτοῦ τὰ γενόμενα ἐλυπήθησαν σφόδρα, καὶ ἐλθόντες διεσάφησαν τῷ κυρίῳ ἑαυτῶν πάντα τὰ γενόμενα.
Visto quello che accadeva, i suoi compagni furono molto dispiaciuti e andarono a riferire al loro padrone tutto l'accaduto.
His fellow-servants, having seen what happened, were greatly saddened and went to reportⓘ everything to the master.

τότε προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτὸν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ λέγει αὐτῷ· Δοῦλε πονηρέ, πᾶσαν τὴν ὀφειλὴν ἐκείνην ἀφῆκά σοι, ἐπεὶ παρεκάλεσάς με·
Allora il padrone fece chiamare quell'uomo e gli disse: Servo malvagio, io ti ho condonato tutto quel debito perché tu mi hai pregato.
Then, summoning him, the master says to him: «Wicked servantⓘ, all that debt I cancelled for you because you implored me;

οὐκ ἔδει καὶ σὲ ἐλεῆσαι τὸν σύνδουλόν σου, ὡς κἀγὼ σὲ ἠλέησα;
Non dovevi anche tu aver pietà del tuo compagno, così come io ho avuto pietà di te?
oughtⓘ you not also to have had mercy on your fellow-servant, as I had on youⓘ?».

καὶ ὀργισθεὶς ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ παρέδωκεν αὐτὸν τοῖς βασανισταῖς ἕως οὗ ἀποδῷ πᾶν τὸ ⸀ὀφειλόμενον.
Sdegnato, il padrone lo diede in mano agli aguzzini, finché non avesse restituito tutto il dovuto.
And having become angryⓘ the master handed him over to the torturersⓘ until he should repay everything.

Οὕτως καὶ ὁ πατήρ μου ὁ ⸀οὐράνιος ποιήσει ὑμῖν ἐὰν μὴ ἀφῆτε ἕκαστος τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τῶν καρδιῶν ⸀ὑμῶν.
Così anche il Padre mio celeste farà con voi, se non perdonerete di cuore, ciascuno al proprio fratello».
So also my heavenly Fatherⓘ will do to you, if you do not each forgive your own brother from your heartsⓘ».
