Orthodox ReadingThen Peter, approaching him, said: «Lord, how many times shall my brother sin against me and I shall forgive himⓘ? Up to seven timesⓘ?».

Greekλέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Οὐ λέγω σοι ἕως ἑπτάκις ἀλλὰ ἕως ἑβδομηκοντάκις ἑπτά.
Orthodox ReadingJesus says to him: «I do not tell you up to seven times, but up to seventy times sevenⓘ.

GreekΔιὰ τοῦτο ὡμοιώθη ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν ἀνθρώπῳ βασιλεῖ ὃς ἠθέλησεν συνᾶραι λόγον μετὰ τῶν δούλων αὐτοῦ·

Greekμὴ ἔχοντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἀποδοῦναι ἐκέλευσεν αὐτὸν ὁ ⸀κύριος πραθῆναι καὶ τὴν ⸀γυναῖκα καὶ τὰ τέκνα καὶ πάντα ὅσα ⸀ἔχει καὶ ἀποδοθῆναι.
Orthodox ReadingSince he had nothing with which to repay, the master ordered that he be sold with his wife and childrenⓘ, and so settle the debt.

Greekἐξελθὼν δὲ ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος εὗρεν ἕνα τῶν συνδούλων αὐτοῦ ὃς ὤφειλεν αὐτῷ ἑκατὸν δηνάρια, καὶ κρατήσας αὐτὸν ἔπνιγεν λέγων· ⸀Ἀπόδος εἴ τι ὀφείλεις.

Orthodox ReadingProstrating himself, the fellow-servant implored him: «Be longsuffering with me and I will repay you».
