Orthodox ReadingWhen Jesus had finished these discourses, he left Galilee and came into the region of Judea, beyond the Jordanⓘ.

Orthodox ReadingSome Pharisees (perushim), the observant ones, in order to test himⓘ, said to him: «Is it lawfulⓘ for a man to divorce his wife for any causeⓘ?» — the dispute between the school of Hillel (Bet Hillel), which permitted divorce for anything, and that of Shammai (Bet Shammai), which limited it to grave immorality alone.

Greekεἰσὶν γὰρ εὐνοῦχοι οἵτινες ἐκ κοιλίας μητρὸς ἐγεννήθησαν οὕτως, καὶ εἰσὶν εὐνοῦχοι οἵτινες εὐνουχίσθησαν ὑπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων, καὶ εἰσὶν εὐνοῦχοι οἵτινες εὐνούχισαν ἑαυτοὺς διὰ τὴν βασιλείαν τῶν οὐρανῶν. ὁ δυνάμενος χωρεῖν χωρείτω.
