Ἀναστᾶσα δὲ Μαριὰμ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ταύταις ἐπορεύθη εἰς τὴν ὀρεινὴν μετὰ σπουδῆς εἰς πόλιν Ἰούδα,
In quei giorni Maria si alzò e andò in fretta verso la regione montuosa, in una città di Giuda.
In those days Mary arose and went in haste toward the hill country, to a city of Judahⓘ.

καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον Ζαχαρίου καὶ ἠσπάσατο τὴν Ἐλισάβετ.
Entrata nella casa di Zaccaria, salutò Elisabetta.
Entering the house of Zechariah, she greeted Elizabeth.

καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσεν ⸂τὸν ἀσπασμὸν τῆς Μαρίας ἡ Ἐλισάβετ⸃, ἐσκίρτησεν τὸ βρέφος ἐν τῇ κοιλίᾳ αὐτῆς, καὶ ἐπλήσθη πνεύματος ἁγίου ἡ Ἐλισάβετ,
Appena Elisabetta ebbe udito il saluto di Maria, il bambino sussultò nel suo grembo. Elisabetta fu colmata di Spirito Santo
As soon as Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child leapedⓘ in her womb. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spiritⓘ

καὶ ἀνεφώνησεν ⸀κραυγῇ μεγάλῃ καὶ εἶπεν· Εὐλογημένη σὺ ἐν γυναιξίν, καὶ εὐλογημένος ὁ καρπὸς τῆς κοιλίας σου.
ed esclamò a gran voce: «Benedetta tu fra le donne e benedetto il frutto del tuo grembo!
and cried out with a loud voice: «Blessed are you among womenⓘ and blessed is the fruit of your womb!

καὶ πόθεν μοι τοῦτο ἵνα ἔλθῃ ἡ μήτηρ τοῦ κυρίου μου πρὸς ⸀ἐμέ;
A che cosa devo che la madre del mio Signore venga da me?
And why is it granted to me that the mother of my Lordⓘ should come to me?

ἰδοὺ γὰρ ὡς ἐγένετο ἡ φωνὴ τοῦ ἀσπασμοῦ σου εἰς τὰ ὦτά μου, ἐσκίρτησεν ⸂ἐν ἀγαλλιάσει τὸ βρέφος⸃ ἐν τῇ κοιλίᾳ μου.
Ecco, appena il tuo saluto è giunto ai miei orecchi, il bambino ha sussultato di gioia nel mio grembo.
For behold, as soon as your greeting reached my ears, the child leaped for joyⓘ in my womb.
45
καὶ μακαρία ἡ πιστεύσασα ὅτι ἔσται τελείωσις τοῖς λελαλημένοις αὐτῇ παρὰ κυρίου.
E beata colei che ha creduto nell'adempimento di ciò che il Signore le ha detto».
And blessed is she who believedⓘ in the fulfillment of what the Lord told her».

Καὶ εἶπεν Μαριάμ· Μεγαλύνει ἡ ψυχή μου τὸν κύριον,
Allora Maria disse: «L'anima mia magnifica il Signore
Then Mary said: «My soul magnifies the Lord (YHWH)ⓘ
47
καὶ ἠγαλλίασεν τὸ πνεῦμά μου ἐπὶ τῷ θεῷ τῷ σωτῆρί μου·
e il mio spirito esulta in Dio, mio salvatore,
and my spirit rejoices in God, my saviorⓘ,
48
ὅτι ἐπέβλεψεν ἐπὶ τὴν ταπείνωσιν τῆς δούλης αὐτοῦ, ἰδοὺ γὰρ ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν μακαριοῦσίν με πᾶσαι αἱ γενεαί·
perché ha guardato l'umiltà della sua serva. D'ora in poi tutte le generazioni mi chiameranno beata.
because he has looked upon the lowliness of his handmaid, the humble estate of the anawⓘ. From now on all generations will call me blessed.

ὅτι ἐποίησέν μοι ⸀μεγάλα ὁ δυνατός, καὶ ἅγιον τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ,
Grandi cose ha fatto per me l'Onnipotente e Santo è il suo nome;
Great things has the Almightyⓘ done for me, and Holy is his nameⓘ;

καὶ τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ εἰς γενεὰς ⸂καὶ γενεὰς⸃ τοῖς φοβουμένοις αὐτόν.
di generazione in generazione la sua misericordia per quelli che lo temono.
from generation to generation his mercy (chesed)ⓘ for those who fear him.

Ἐποίησεν κράτος ἐν βραχίονι αὐτοῦ, διεσκόρπισεν ὑπερηφάνους διανοίᾳ καρδίας αὐτῶν·
Ha spiegato la potenza del suo braccio, ha disperso i superbi nei pensieri del loro cuore;
He has shown the strength of his armⓘ, he has scattered the proudⓘ in the thoughts of their hearts;

καθεῖλεν δυνάστας ἀπὸ θρόνων καὶ ὕψωσεν ταπεινούς,
ha rovesciato i potenti dai troni, ha innalzato gli umili;
he has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and lifted up the humble;
53
πεινῶντας ἐνέπλησεν ἀγαθῶν καὶ πλουτοῦντας ἐξαπέστειλεν κενούς.
ha ricolmato di beni gli affamati, ha rimandato i ricchi a mani vuote.
he has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty.

ἀντελάβετο Ἰσραὴλ παιδὸς αὐτοῦ, μνησθῆναι ἐλέους,
Ha soccorso Israele, suo servo, ricordandosi della sua misericordia,
He has helped Israel, his servantⓘ, remembering his mercyⓘ,

καθὼς ἐλάλησεν πρὸς τοὺς πατέρας ἡμῶν, τῷ Ἀβραὰμ καὶ τῷ σπέρματι αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα.
come aveva detto ai nostri padri, per Abramo e la sua discendenza, per sempre».
as he had spoken to our fathers, to Abraham and his offspringⓘ, forever».

Ἔμεινεν δὲ Μαριὰμ σὺν αὐτῇ ⸀ὡς μῆνας τρεῖς, καὶ ὑπέστρεψεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτῆς.
Maria rimase con lei circa tre mesi, poi tornò a casa sua.
Mary remained with her about three months, then returned to her home.
