Orthodox ReadingFor it will be like a man who, as he was about to go abroadⓘ, called his own servantsⓘ and handed over to them his goodsⓘ.

Greekκαὶ ᾧ μὲν ἔδωκεν πέντε τάλαντα ᾧ δὲ δύο ᾧ δὲ ἕν, ἑκάστῳ κατὰ τὴν ἰδίαν δύναμιν, καὶ ἀπεδήμησεν. εὐθέως
Orthodox ReadingTo one he gave five talentsⓘ, to another two, to another one, to each according to his own dynamisⓘ, and he went abroad.

Greek⸀πορευθεὶς ὁ τὰ πέντε τάλαντα λαβὼν ἠργάσατο ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ ⸀ἐκέρδησεν ἄλλα ⸀πέντε·

Greekὁ δὲ τὸ ἓν λαβὼν ἀπελθὼν ὤρυξεν ⸀γῆν καὶ ⸀ἔκρυψεν τὸ ἀργύριον τοῦ κυρίου αὐτοῦ.
Orthodox ReadingBut the one who had received the one, having gone away, dug the groundⓘ and hid in it the silverⓘ of his lord.

Greekκαὶ προσελθὼν ὁ τὰ πέντε τάλαντα λαβὼν προσήνεγκεν ἄλλα πέντε τάλαντα λέγων· Κύριε, πέντε τάλαντά μοι παρέδωκας· ἴδε ἄλλα πέντε τάλαντα ⸀ἐκέρδησα.

Greekπροσελθὼν δὲ καὶ ὁ τὸ ἓν τάλαντον εἰληφὼς εἶπεν· Κύριε, ἔγνων σε ὅτι σκληρὸς εἶ ἄνθρωπος, θερίζων ὅπου οὐκ ἔσπειρας καὶ συνάγων ὅθεν οὐ διεσκόρπισας·
Orthodox ReadingAt last the one who had received the single talent also came forward and said: «Lord, I knew you as a hard manⓘ, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you did not scatter;

Greekἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Πονηρὲ δοῦλε καὶ ὀκνηρέ, ᾔδεις ὅτι θερίζω ὅπου οὐκ ἔσπειρα καὶ συνάγω ὅθεν οὐ διεσκόρπισα;
Orthodox ReadingAnswering him, his lord said: «Wicked and slothful servantⓘ, you knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I did not scatter?
