1
Then the kingdom of heavenⓘ will be made like ten virginsⓘ who, having taken their lampsⓘ, went out to meetⓘ the bridegroom (the chatan of the wedding)ⓘ.
2
Cinque di esse erano stolte e cinque sagge;
Five of them were foolish and five wiseⓘ.
3
le stolte presero le loro lampade, ma non presero con sé l'olio;
The foolish ones, having taken their lamps, took no oilⓘ with them;
4
the wise ones, however, took oil in the vesselsⓘ together with their lamps.
5
The bridegroom being delayedⓘ, they all grew drowsy and fell asleepⓘ.
6
Andategli incontro!
At midnightⓘ there came a cryⓘ: «Beholdⓘ the bridegroom! go out to meet him!».
7
Then they awokeⓘ, all those virgins, and trimmedⓘ their lamps.
8
The foolish said to the wise: «Give usⓘ some of your oil, for our lamps are going outⓘ».
9
The wise answeredⓘ, saying: «No, for there would not be enough for us and for you; go ratherⓘ to the sellers and buy some for yourselvesⓘ».
10
While they were going away to buyⓘ, the bridegroom cameⓘ, and the ready onesⓘ entered with him to the wedding feastⓘ, and the door was shutⓘ.
11
Later the other virgins also came, saying: «Lord, lordⓘ, open to usⓘ!».
12
But he, answering saidⓘ: «Amen, I say to youⓘ: I do not know youⓘ».
13
Keep watchⓘ therefore, for you do not knowⓘ the day nor the hourⓘ.
