כי נער ישראל ואהבהו וממצרים קראתי לבני
Διότι νήπιος Ισραηλ, καὶ ἐγὼ ἠγάπησα αὐτὸν καὶ ἐξ Αἰγύπτου μετεκάλεσα τὰ τέκνα αὐτοῦ.
When Israel was a childⓘ, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.

קראו להם כן הלכו מפניהם לבעלים יזבחו ולפסלים יקטרון
καθὼς μετεκάλεσα αὐτούς, οὕτως ἀπῴχοντο ἐκ προσώπου μου· αὐτοὶ τοῖς Βααλιμ ἔθυον καὶ τοῖς γλυπτοῖς ἐθυμίων.
The more I called themⓘ, the further they went from my face: to the Baalimⓘ they sacrificed and to carved idols they burned incense.

ואנכי תרגלתי לאפרים קחם על זרועתיו ולא ידעו כי רפאתים
καὶ ἐγὼ συνεπόδισα τὸν Εφραιμ, ἀνέλαβον αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸν βραχίονά μου, καὶ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν ὅτι ἴαμαι αὐτούς.
Yet it was I who taught them to walkⓘ Ephraim, taking him in my arms; but they did not recognizeⓘ that I was healing them.

בחבלי אדם אמשכם בעבתות אהבה ואהיה להם כמרימי על על לחיהם ואט אליו אוכיל
ἐν διαφθορᾷ ἀνθρώπων ἐξέτεινα αὐτοὺς ἐν δεσμοῖς ἀγαπήσεώς μου καὶ ἔσομαι αὐτοῖς ὡς ῥαπίζων ἄνθρωπος ἐπὶ τὰς σιαγόνας αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἐπιβλέψομαι πρὸς αὐτόν, δυνήσομαι αὐτῷ.
I drew them with human cordsⓘ, with bonds of love; I was to them as one who lifts the yokeⓘ from their jaws, and I bent down to him to feed him.

לא ישוב אל ארץ מצרים ואשור הוא מלכו כי מאנו לשוב
κατῴκησεν Εφραιμ ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ, καὶ Ασσουρ αὐτὸς βασιλεὺς αὐτοῦ, ὅτι οὐκ ἠθέλησεν ἐπιστρέψαι.
He shall not return to the land of Egypt, but Asshurⓘ shall be his king, because they have refused to returnⓘ.

וחלה חרב בעריו וכלתה בדיו ואכלה ממעצותיהם
καὶ ἠσθένησεν ῥομφαία ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτοῦ καὶ κατέπαυσεν ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτοῦ, καὶ φάγονται ἐκ τῶν διαβουλίων αὐτῶν.
The sword shall descend upon his cities, it shall shatter his gate-bars and shall devour on account of their schemesⓘ.

ועמי תלואים למשובתי ואל על יקראהו יחד לא ירומם
καὶ ὁ λαὸς αὐτοῦ ἐπικρεμάμενος ἐκ τῆς κατοικίας αὐτοῦ, καὶ ὁ θεὸς ἐπὶ τὰ τίμια αὐτοῦ θυμωθήσεται, καὶ οὐ μὴ ὑψώσῃ αὐτόν.
My people are bent on turning away from meⓘ; though they are called upward, none rises.

איך אתנך אפרים אמגנך ישראל איך אתנך כאדמה אשימך כצבאים נהפך עלי לבי יחד נכמרו נחומי
τί σε διαθῶ, Εφραιμ; ὑπερασπιῶ σου, Ισραηλ; τί σε διαθῶ; ὡς Αδαμα θήσομαί σε καὶ ὡς Σεβωιμ; μετεστράφη ἡ καρδία μου ἐν τῷ αὐτῷ, συνεταράχθη ἡ μεταμέλειά μου.
How can I give you upⓘ, Ephraim? How can I surrender you, Israel? How can I make you like Admahⓘ, treat you like Zeboiim? My heart recoils within me, my compassions kindle togetherⓘ.

לא אעשה חרון אפי לא אשוב לשחת אפרים כי אל אנכי ולא איש בקרבך קדוש ולא אבוא בעיר
οὐ μὴ ποιήσω κατὰ τὴν ὀργὴν τοῦ θυμοῦ μου, οὐ μὴ ἐγκαταλίπω τοῦ ἐξαλειφθῆναι τὸν Εφραιμ· διότι θεὸς ἐγώ εἰμι καὶ οὐκ ἄνθρωπος· ἐν σοὶ ἅγιος, καὶ οὐκ εἰσελεύσομαι εἰς πόλιν.
I will not execute my burning anger, I will not again destroy Ephraim: for I am God and not a manⓘ, the Holy One in your midst, and I will not come in wrath.

אחרי יהוה ילכו כאריה ישאג כי הוא ישאג ויחרדו בנים מים
ὀπίσω κυρίου πορεύσομαι· ὡς λέων ἐρεύξεται, ὅτι αὐτὸς ὠρύσεται, καὶ ἐκστήσονται τέκνα ὑδάτων.
They shall follow the Tetragrammatonⓘ: he will roar like a lion, and when he roars his children shall come trembling from the westⓘ.

יחרדו כצפור ממצרים וכיונה מארץ אשור והושבתים על בתיהם נאם יהוה
καὶ ἐκστήσονται ὡς ὄρνεον ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ὡς περιστερὰ ἐκ γῆς Ἀσσυρίων· καὶ ἀποκαταστήσω αὐτοὺς εἰς τοὺς οἴκους αὐτῶν, λέγει κύριος.
They shall come trembling like birds from Egypt, like doves from the land of Asshur; and I will settle them in their homes — oracle of the Tetragrammaton.
