ויהי אחרי מות יהושע וישאלו בני ישראל ביהוה לאמר מי יעלה לנו אל הכנעני בתחלה להלחם בו
Καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τὴν τελευτὴν Ἰησοῦ καὶ ἐπηρώτων οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἐν κυρίῳ λέγοντες Τίς ἀναβήσεται ἡμῖν πρὸς τὸν Χαναναῖον ἀφηγούμενος τοῦ πολεμῆσαι ἐν αὐτῷ;
And it came to pass, after the death of ⓘ, that the sons of Israel inquired of the Tetragrammaton, saying: "Who shall go up for us against the ⓘ, first, to ⓘ?"

ויאמר יהוה יהודה יעלה הנה נתתי את הארץ בידו
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος Ιουδας ἀναβήσεται, ἰδοὺ δέδωκα τὴν γῆν ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ.
And the Tetragrammaton said: "ⓘ: behold, I have ⓘ the land into his hand."

ויאמר יהודה לשמעון אחיו עלה אתי בגורלי ונלחמה בכנעני והלכתי גם אני אתך בגורלך וילך אתו שמעון
καὶ εἶπεν Ιουδας πρὸς Συμεων τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ Ἀνάβηθι μετ’ ἐμοῦ ἐν τῷ κλήρῳ μου, καὶ πολεμήσωμεν ἐν τῷ Χαναναίῳ, καὶ πορεύσομαι καί γε ἐγὼ μετὰ σοῦ ἐν τῷ κλήρῳ σου. καὶ ἐπορεύθη μετ’ αὐτοῦ Συμεων.
And Yehudàh said to ⓘ his brother: "Come up with me into my ⓘ and let us fight together against the Kenaʿanita, and I too will come with you into your portion." And Shimʿòn went with him.

ויעל יהודה ויתן יהוה את הכנעני והפרזי בידם ויכום בבזק עשרת אלפים איש
καὶ ἀνέβη Ιουδας, καὶ ἔδωκεν κύριος τὸν Χαναναῖον καὶ τὸν Φερεζαῖον ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτοὺς ἐν Βεζεκ, δέκα χιλιάδας ἀνδρῶν,
And Yehudàh went up, and the Tetragrammaton gave the Kenaʿanita and the ⓘ into their hand, and they struck them at ⓘ, ten thousand men.

וימצאו את אדני בזק בבזק וילחמו בו ויכו את הכנעני ואת הפרזי
καὶ εὗρον τὸν Αδωνιβεζεκ ἐν Βεζεκ καὶ ἐπολέμησαν ἐν αὐτῷ καὶ ἐπάταξαν τὸν Χαναναῖον καὶ τὸν Φερεζαῖον.
And they found ⓘ, the lord of Bèzeq, and they fought against him, and struck the Kenaʿanita and the Perizzita.

וינס אדני בזק וירדפו אחריו ויאחזו אתו ויקצצו את בהנות ידיו ורגליו
καὶ ἔφυγεν Αδωνιβεζεκ, καὶ κατεδίωξαν ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλαβον αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπέκοψαν τὰ ἄκρα τῶν χειρῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ.
And Adoni-Bèzeq fled, and they pursued him, took him, and ⓘ.

ויאמר אדני בזק שבעים מלכים בהנות ידיהם ורגליהם מקצצים היו מלקטים תחת שלחני כאשר עשיתי כן שלם לי אלהים ויביאהו ירושלם וימת שם
καὶ εἶπεν Αδωνιβεζεκ Ἑβδομήκοντα βασιλεῖς τὰ ἄκρα τῶν χειρῶν αὐτῶν καὶ τῶν ποδῶν αὐτῶν ἀποκεκομμένοι ἦσαν συλλέγοντες τὰ ὑποκάτω τῆς τραπέζης μου· καθὼς οὖν ἐποίησα, οὕτως ἀνταπέδωκέν μοι ὁ θεός. καὶ ἤγαγον αὐτὸν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ, καὶ ἀπέθανεν ἐκεῖ.
And Adoni-Bèzeq said: "Seventy kings, with their thumbs and big toes cut off, gathered scraps under my table; as I have done, so ⓘ — measure for measure, ⓘ." And they brought him to ⓘ, and there he died.

וילחמו בני יהודה בירושלם וילכדו אותה ויכוה לפי חרב ואת העיר שלחו באש
Καὶ ἐπολέμησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ιουδα ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ κατελάβοντο αὐτὴν καὶ ἐπάταξαν αὐτὴν ἐν στόματι ῥομφαίας καὶ τὴν πόλιν ἐνέπρησαν ἐν πυρί.
And the sons of Yehudàh fought against Yerushalàyim, took it, struck it ⓘ and set the city on fire.

ואחר ירדו בני יהודה להלחם בכנעני יושב ההר והנגב והשפלה
καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα κατέβησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ιουδα πολεμῆσαι ἐν τῷ Χαναναίῳ τῷ κατοικοῦντι τὴν ὀρεινὴν καὶ τὸν νότον καὶ τὴν πεδινήν.
And afterward the sons of Yehudàh went down to fight the Kenaʿanita who inhabited the hill country, the ⓘ and the ⓘ.

וילך יהודה אל הכנעני היושב בחברון ושם חברון לפנים קרית ארבע ויכו את ששי ואת אחימן ואת תלמי
καὶ ἐπορεύθη Ιουδας πρὸς τὸν Χαναναῖον τὸν κατοικοῦντα ἐν Χεβρων, καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Χεβρων ἐξ ἐναντίας· τὸ δὲ ὄνομα Χεβρων ἦν ἔμπροσθεν Καριαθαρβοκσεφερ. καὶ ἐπάταξεν τὸν Σεσι καὶ τὸν Αχιμαν καὶ τὸν Θολμι, γεννήματα τοῦ Ενακ.
And Yehudàh went against the Kenaʿanita who inhabited ⓘ, and they struck Sheshài, Achimàn and Talmài.

וילך משם אל יושבי דביר ושם דביר לפנים קרית ספר
καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ἐκεῖθεν πρὸς τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Δαβιρ· καὶ τὸ ὄνομα Δαβιρ ἦν ἔμπροσθεν Πόλις γραμμάτων.
And from there they went against the inhabitants of Devìr, whose former name was ⓘ.

ויאמר כלב אשר יכה את קרית ספר ולכדה ונתתי לו את עכסה בתי לאשה
καὶ εἶπεν Χαλεβ Ὃς ἂν πατάξῃ τὴν Πόλιν τῶν γραμμάτων καὶ προκαταλάβηται αὐτήν, δώσω αὐτῷ τὴν Ασχαν θυγατέρα μου εἰς γυναῖκα.
And ⓘ said: "Whoever strikes Qiryàt-Sèfer and takes it, to him I will give ʿAksàh my daughter as wife."

וילכדה עתניאל בן קנז אחי כלב הקטן ממנו ויתן לו את עכסה בתו לאשה
καὶ προκατελάβετο αὐτὴν Γοθονιηλ υἱὸς Κενεζ ἀδελφὸς Χαλεβ ὁ νεώτερος, καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ τὴν Ασχαν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ εἰς γυναῖκα.
And ⓘ son of Qenàz, the younger brother of Kalèv, took it, and he gave him ʿAksàh his daughter as wife.

ויהי בבואה ותסיתהו לשאול מאת אביה השדה ותצנח מעל החמור ויאמר לה כלב מה לך
καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ εἰσπορεύεσθαι αὐτὴν καὶ ἐπέσεισεν αὐτὴν αἰτῆσαι παρὰ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῆς τὸν ἀγρόν, καὶ ἐγόγγυζεν ἐπάνω τοῦ ὑποζυγίου καὶ ἔκραξεν ἀπὸ τοῦ ὑποζυγίου Εἰς γῆν νότου ἐκδέδοσαί με. καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Χαλεβ Τί ἐστίν σοι;
And it came to pass, when she came to him, that she urged him to ask her father for a field; and she ⓘ, and Kalèv said to her: "What do you need?"

ותאמר לו הבה לי ברכה כי ארץ הנגב נתתני ונתתה לי גלת מים ויתן לה כלב את גלת עלית ואת גלת תחתית
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ασχα Δός μοι εὐλογίαν, ὅτι εἰς γῆν νότου ἐκδέδοσαί με, καὶ δώσεις μοι λύτρωσιν ὕδατος. καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῇ Χαλεβ κατὰ τὴν καρδίαν αὐτῆς τὴν λύτρωσιν μετεώρων καὶ τὴν λύτρωσιν ταπεινῶν.
And she said: "Grant me a ⓘ: for you have set me in a dry land of the Nèghev, give me also ⓘ." And Kalèv gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

ובני קיני חתן משה עלו מעיר התמרים את בני יהודה מדבר יהודה אשר בנגב ערד וילך וישב את העם
Καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Ιωβαβ τοῦ Κιναίου πενθεροῦ Μωυσῆ ἀνέβησαν ἐκ τῆς πόλεως τῶν φοινίκων πρὸς τοὺς υἱοὺς Ιουδα εἰς τὴν ἔρημον τὴν οὖσαν ἐν τῷ νότῳ ἐπὶ καταβάσεως Αραδ, καὶ ἐπορεύθη καὶ κατῴκησεν μετὰ τοῦ λαοῦ. –
And the sons of the ⓘ, Moses's father-in-law, went up from the city of palms with the sons of Yehudàh into the wilderness of Yehudàh that is south of ʿArad, and they went and settled among the people.

וילך יהודה את שמעון אחיו ויכו את הכנעני יושב צפת ויחרימו אותה ויקרא את שם העיר חרמה
καὶ ἐπορεύθη Ιουδας μετὰ Συμεων τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπάταξαν τὸν Χαναναῖον τὸν κατοικοῦντα Σεφεθ καὶ ἀνεθεμάτισαν αὐτὴν καὶ ἐξωλέθρευσαν αὐτὴν καὶ ἐκάλεσαν τὸ ὄνομα τῆς πόλεως Ἐξολέθρευσις.
And Yehudàh went with Shimʿòn his brother, and they struck the Kenaʿanita who inhabited Tzefàt, devoted it to the ⓘ, and called the name of the city ⓘ.

וילכד יהודה את עזה ואת גבולה ואת אשקלון ואת גבולה ואת עקרון ואת גבולה
καὶ οὐκ ἐκληρονόμησεν Ιουδας τὴν Γάζαν καὶ τὸ ὅριον αὐτῆς καὶ τὴν Ἀσκαλῶνα καὶ τὸ ὅριον αὐτῆς καὶ τὴν Ακκαρων καὶ τὸ ὅριον αὐτῆς καὶ τὴν Ἄζωτον καὶ τὰ περισπόρια αὐτῆς.
And Yehudàh took ʿAzzàh with its territory, Ashkelòn with its territory, ʿEqròn with its territory.

ויהי יהוה את יהודה וירש את ההר כי לא להוריש את ישבי העמק כי רכב ברזל להם
καὶ ἦν κύριος μετὰ Ιουδα, καὶ ἐκληρονόμησεν τὸ ὄρος· ὅτι οὐκ ἐδύνατο κληρονομῆσαι τοὺς κατοικοῦντας τὴν κοιλάδα, ὅτι Ρηχαβ διεστείλατο αὐτήν.
And the Tetragrammaton was with Yehudàh, and he took possession of the hill country; but he could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had ⓘ.

ויתנו לכלב את חברון כאשר דבר משה ויורש משם את שלשה בני הענק
καὶ ἔδωκεν τῷ Χαλεβ τὴν Χεβρων, καθὰ ἐλάλησεν Μωϋσῆς· καὶ ἐκληρονόμησεν ἐκεῖθεν τὰς τρεῖς πόλεις καὶ ἐξῆρεν ἐκεῖθεν τοὺς τρεῖς υἱοὺς Ενακ.
And they gave Kalèv Chevròn, as Moses had spoken, and he drove out from it the three sons of ⓘ.

ואת היבוסי ישב ירושלם לא הורישו בני בנימן וישב היבוסי את בני בנימן בירושלם עד היום הזה
καὶ τὸν Ιεβουσαῖον τὸν κατοικοῦντα ἐν Ιερουσαλημ οὐκ ἐξῆραν οἱ υἱοὶ Βενιαμιν, καὶ κατῴκησεν ὁ Ιεβουσαῖος μετὰ τῶν υἱῶν Βενιαμιν ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης.
And the Yevusèo who inhabited Yerushalàyim, the sons of Binyamìn did not drive out, and the Yevusèo continued to dwell with the sons of Binyamìn in Yerushalàyim ⓘ.

ויעלו בית יוסף גם הם בית אל ויהוה עמם
Καὶ ἀνέβησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ιωσηφ καί γε αὐτοὶ εἰς Βαιθηλ καὶ Ιουδας μετ’ αὐτῶν.
And the house of Iosèf also went up toward Bet-El, and the Tetragrammaton was with them.
23
ויתירו בית יוסף בבית אל ושם העיר לפנים לוז
καὶ παρενέβαλον οἶκος Ισραηλ κατὰ Βαιθηλ· τὸ δὲ ὄνομα τῆς πόλεως ἦν ἔμπροσθεν Λουζα.
And the house of Iosèf sent scouts to Bet-El, whose former name was ⓘ.
24
ויראו השמרים איש יוצא מן העיר ויאמרו לו הראנו נא את מבוא העיר ועשינו עמך חסד
καὶ εἶδον οἱ φυλάσσοντες ἄνδρα ἐκπορευόμενον ἐκ τῆς πόλεως καὶ ἔλαβαν αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπον αὐτῷ Δεῖξον ἡμῖν τὴν εἴσοδον τῆς πόλεως, καὶ ποιήσομεν μετὰ σοῦ ἔλεος.
And the watchmen saw a man coming out of the city and said to him: "Show us, we pray, the entrance to the city, and we will deal with you in ⓘ."

ויראם את מבוא העיר ויכו את העיר לפי חרב ואת האיש ואת כל משפחתו שלחו
καὶ ἔδειξεν αὐτοῖς τὴν εἴσοδον τῆς πόλεως, καὶ ἐπάταξαν τὴν πόλιν ἐν στόματι ῥομφαίας, τὸν δὲ ἄνδρα καὶ τὴν συγγένειαν αὐτοῦ ἐξαπέστειλαν.
And he showed them the entrance to the city, and they struck the city with the edge of the sword, but they let the man and all his family go free.

וילך האיש ארץ החתים ויבן עיר ויקרא שמה לוז הוא שמה עד היום הזה
καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ὁ ἀνὴρ εἰς γῆν Χεττιιμ καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν ἐκεῖ πόλιν καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτῆς Λουζα· τοῦτο ὄνομα αὐτῆς ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης.
And the man went to the land of the ⓘ, built a city and called it Luz: that is its name to this day.

ולא הוריש מנשה את בית שאן ואת בנותיה ואת תענך ואת בנתיה ואת ישב ישבי דור ואת בנותיה ואת יושבי יבלעם ואת בנתיה ואת יושבי מגדו ואת בנותיה ויואל הכנעני לשבת בארץ הזאת
Καὶ οὐκ ἐκληρονόμησεν Μανασσης τὴν Βαιθσαν, ἥ ἐστιν Σκυθῶν πόλις, οὐδὲ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτῆς οὐδὲ τὰ περισπόρια αὐτῆς οὐδὲ τὴν Εκθανααδ καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτῆς οὐδὲ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Δωρ καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτῆς καὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Βαλααμ καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτῆς καὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Μαγεδων καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτῆς οὐδὲ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Ιεβλααμ οὐδὲ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτῆς· καὶ ἤρξατο ὁ Χαναναῖος κατοικεῖν ἐν τῇ γῇ ταύτῃ.
And Menasshè did not drive out the inhabitants of Bet-Sheàn and its villages, Taʿnàkh, Dor, Yivleàm, Meghiddò and their villages, and the Kenaʿanita persisted in dwelling in that land.

ויהי כי חזק ישראל וישם את הכנעני למס והוריש לא הורישו
καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε ἐνίσχυσεν Ισραηλ, καὶ ἔθετο τὸν Χαναναῖον εἰς φόρον καὶ ἐξαίρων οὐκ ἐξῆρεν αὐτόν.
And it came to pass, when Israel grew strong, that they put the Kenaʿanita to ⓘ, but did not fully drive them out.

ואפרים לא הוריש את הכנעני היושב בגזר וישב הכנעני בקרבו בגזר
Καὶ Εφραιμ οὐκ ἐξῆρεν τὸν Χαναναῖον τὸν κατοικοῦντα ἐν Γαζερ· καὶ κατῴκει ὁ Χαναναῖος ἐν μέσῳ αὐτοῦ ἐν Γαζερ καὶ ἐγένετο εἰς φόρον.
And Efràim did not drive out the Kenaʿanita who inhabited Gèzer, and the Kenaʿanita dwelt among them at Gèzer.

זבולן לא הוריש את יושבי קטרון ואת יושבי נהלל וישב הכנעני בקרבו ויהיו למס
Καὶ Ζαβουλων οὐκ ἐξῆρεν τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Κεδρων καὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Ενααλα· καὶ κατῴκησεν ὁ Χαναναῖος ἐν μέσῳ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐγένετο εἰς φόρον.
Zevulùn did not drive out the inhabitants of Qitròn and Nahalòl, and the Kenaʿanita dwelt among them and was put to tribute.
31
אשר לא הוריש את ישבי עכו ואת יושבי צידון ואת אחלב ואת אכזיב ואת חלבה ואת אפיק ואת רחב
Καὶ Ασηρ οὐκ ἐξῆρεν τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Ακχω, καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτῷ εἰς φόρον, καὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Δωρ καὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Σιδῶνα καὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Ααλαφ καὶ τὸν Αχαζιβ καὶ τὴν Χελβα καὶ τὴν Αφεκ καὶ τὴν Ροωβ.
Ashèr did not drive out the inhabitants of ʿAkkò, Tzidòn, Achlàv, Akzìv, Chelbàh, Afìq and Rechòv;
32
וישב האשרי בקרב הכנעני ישבי הארץ כי לא הורישו
καὶ κατῴκησεν Ασηρ ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ Χαναναίου τοῦ κατοικοῦντος τὴν γῆν, ὅτι οὐκ ἐδυνάσθη ἐξᾶραι αὐτόν.
and the Asherite dwelt among the Kenaʿanita who inhabited the land, for he did not drive them out.

נפתלי לא הוריש את ישבי בית שמש ואת ישבי בית ענת וישב בקרב הכנעני ישבי הארץ וישבי בית שמש ובית ענת היו להם למס
Καὶ Νεφθαλι οὐκ ἐξῆρεν τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Βαιθσαμυς οὐδὲ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Βαιθενεθ, καὶ κατῴκησεν Ισραηλ ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ Χαναναίου τοῦ κατοικοῦντος τὴν γῆν· οἱ δὲ κατοικοῦντες Βαιθσαμυς καὶ τὴν Βαιθενεθ ἐγενήθησαν αὐτοῖς εἰς φόρον.
Naftalì did not drive out the inhabitants of Bet-Shèmesh and Bet-ʿAnàt, and he dwelt among the Kenaʿanita who inhabited the land; and the inhabitants of Bet-Shèmesh and Bet-ʿAnàt were put to tribute for him.

וילחצו האמרי את בני דן ההרה כי לא נתנו לרדת לעמק
Καὶ ἐξέθλιψεν ὁ Αμορραῖος τοὺς υἱοὺς Δαν εἰς τὸ ὄρος, ὅτι οὐκ ἀφῆκεν αὐτὸν καταβῆναι εἰς τὴν κοιλάδα.
And the ⓘ pushed the sons of Dan back into the hill country, for they did not allow them to descend into the valley.
35
ויואל האמרי לשבת בהר חרס באילון ובשעלבים ותכבד יד בית יוסף ויהיו למס
καὶ ἤρξατο ὁ Αμορραῖος κατοικεῖν ἐν τῷ ὄρει τοῦ Μυρσινῶνος, οὗ αἱ ἄρκοι καὶ αἱ ἀλώπεκες· καὶ ἐβαρύνθη ἡ χεὶρ οἴκου Ιωσηφ ἐπὶ τὸν Αμορραῖον, καὶ ἐγένετο εἰς φόρον.
And the Emorèo persisted in dwelling at ⓘ, at Ayyalòn and at Shaʿalvìm; but the hand of the house of Iosèf bore heavily upon them and they were put to tribute.
36
וגבול האמרי ממעלה עקרבים מהסלע ומעלה
καὶ τὸ ὅριον τοῦ Αμορραίου ὁ Ιδουμαῖος ἐπάνω Ακραβιν ἐπὶ τῆς Πέτρας καὶ ἐπάνω.
And the border of the Emorèo ran from the ascent of ⓘ, from ha-Sèlaʿ upward.
