בשנת חדה לבלאשצר מלך בבל דניאל חלם חזה וחזוי ראשה על משכבה באדין חלמא כתב ראש מלין אמר
Ἔτους πρώτου βασιλεύοντος Βαλτασαρ χώρας Βαβυλωνίας Δανιηλ ὅραμα εἶδε παρὰ κεφαλὴν ἐπὶ τῆς κοίτης αὐτοῦ· τότε Δανιηλ τὸ ὅραμα, ὃ εἶδεν, ἔγραψεν εἰς κεφάλαια λόγων
In the first year of ⓘ king of ⓘ, ⓘ had a ⓘ and visions in his head as he lay on his bed; then he wrote down the dream and told the sum of the matter.

ענה דניאל ואמר חזה הוית בחזוי עם ליליא וארו ארבע רוחי שמיא מגיחן לימא רבא
Ἐπὶ τῆς κοίτης μου ἐθεώρουν καθ’ ὕπνους νυκτὸς καὶ ἰδοὺ τέσσαρες ἄνεμοι τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἐνέπεσον εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν τὴν μεγάλην.
Daniyèl began to speak: I was watching in the ⓘ, and behold, the four ⓘ were stirring up the ⓘ;

וארבע חיון רברבן סלקן מן ימא שנין דא מן דא
καὶ τέσσαρα θηρία ἀνέβαινον ἐκ τῆς θαλάσσης διαφέροντα ἓν παρὰ τὸ ἕν.
and four great beasts came up from the sea, each different from the other.

קדמיתא כאריה וגפין די נשר לה חזה הוית עד די מריטו גפיה ונטילת מן ארעא ועל רגלין כאנש הקימת ולבב אנש יהיב לה
τὸ πρῶτον ὡσεὶ λέαινα ἔχουσα πτερὰ ὡσεὶ ἀετοῦ· ἐθεώρουν ἕως ὅτου ἐτίλη τὰ πτερὰ αὐτῆς, καὶ ἤρθη ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐπὶ ποδῶν ἀνθρωπίνων ἐστάθη, καὶ ἀνθρωπίνη καρδία ἐδόθη αὐτῇ.
The first was like a ⓘ, with eagle's wings; I watched until its wings were plucked off, it was lifted up from the ground, made to stand on two feet like a man, and a human heart was given to it.

וארו חיוה אחרי תנינה דמיה לדב ולשטר חד הקמת ותלת עלעין בפמה בין שניה שנה וכן אמרין לה קומי אכלי בשר שגיא
καὶ ἰδοὺ μετ’ αὐτὴν ἄλλο θηρίον ὁμοίωσιν ἔχον ἄρκου, καὶ ἐπὶ τοῦ ἑνὸς πλευροῦ ἐστάθη, καὶ τρία πλευρὰ ἦν ἐν τῷ στόματι αὐτῆς, καὶ οὕτως εἶπεν Ἀνάστα κατάφαγε σάρκας πολλάς.
And behold, a second beast, like a ⓘ, raised up on one side, with three ⓘ in its mouth between its teeth; and it was told, "Arise, devour much flesh."

באתר דנה חזה הוית וארו אחרי כנמר ולה גפין ארבע די עוף על גביה גבה וארבעה ראשין לחיותא ושלטן יהיב לה
καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ἐθεώρουν θηρίον ἄλλο ὡσεὶ πάρδαλιν, καὶ πτερὰ τέσσαρα ἐπέτεινον ἐπάνω αὐτοῦ, καὶ τέσσαρες κεφαλαὶ τῷ θηρίῳ, καὶ γλῶσσα ἐδόθη αὐτῷ.
After this I looked and there was another, like a ⓘ, with four wings of a bird on its back and four heads; and dominion was given to it.

באתר דנה חזה הוית בחזוי ליליא וארו חיוה רביעיה רביעאה דחילה ואימתני ותקיפא יתירא ושנין די פרזל לה רברבן אכלה ומדקה ושארא ברגליה ברגלה רפסה והיא משניה מן כל חיותא די קדמיה וקרנין עשר לה
μετὰ δὲ ταῦτα ἐθεώρουν ἐν ὁράματι τῆς νυκτὸς θηρίον τέταρτον φοβερόν, καὶ ὁ φόβος αὐτοῦ ὑπερφέρων ἰσχύι, ἔχον ὀδόντας σιδηροῦς μεγάλους, ἐσθίον καὶ κοπανίζον, κύκλῳ τοῖς ποσὶ καταπατοῦν, διαφόρως χρώμενον παρὰ πάντα τὰ πρὸ αὐτοῦ θηρία· εἶχε δὲ κέρατα δέκα,
After this, in the night vision, behold a fourth beast, terrifying and dreadful and exceedingly strong; it had great ⓘ, it devoured and crushed, and trampled the remainder under its feet; it was different from all the beasts that came before it, and it had ten ⓘ.

משתכל הוית בקרניא ואלו קרן אחרי זעירה סלקת ביניהון ביניהן ותלת מן קרניא קדמיתא אתעקרו אתעקרה מן קדמיה קדמה ואלו עינין כעיני אנשא בקרנא דא ופם ממלל רברבן
καὶ βουλαὶ πολλαὶ ἐν τοῖς κέρασιν αὐτοῦ. καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄλλο ἓν κέρας ἀνεφύη ἀνὰ μέσον αὐτῶν μικρὸν ἐν τοῖς κέρασιν αὐτοῦ, καὶ τρία τῶν κεράτων τῶν πρώτων ἐξηράνθησαν δι’ αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἰδοὺ ὀφθαλμοὶ ὥσπερ ὀφθαλμοὶ ἀνθρώπινοι ἐν τῷ κέρατι τούτῳ καὶ στόμα λαλοῦν μεγάλα, καὶ ἐποίει πόλεμον πρὸς τοὺς ἁγίους.
I was considering the horns, and behold, another ⓘ, a small one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were plucked up before it; and in this horn were eyes like human eyes and a mouth speaking arrogant words.

חזה הוית עד די כרסון רמיו ועתיק יומין יתב לבושה כתלג חור ושער ראשה כעמר נקא כרסיה שביבין די נור גלגלוהי נור דלק
ἐθεώρουν ἕως ὅτε θρόνοι ἐτέθησαν, καὶ παλαιὸς ἡμερῶν ἐκάθητο ἔχων περιβολὴν ὡσεὶ χιόνα, καὶ τὸ τρίχωμα τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ ὡσεὶ ἔριον λευκὸν καθαρόν, ὁ θρόνος ὡσεὶ φλὸξ πυρός,
I kept watching until ⓘ were set up and the ⓘ took his seat; his clothing was white as snow, the hair of his head like pure wool, his throne was flames of fire, its wheels burning fire;

נהר די נור נגד ונפק מן קדמוהי אלף אלפים אלפין ישמשונה ורבו רבון רבבן קדמוהי יקומון דינא יתב וספרין פתיחו
καὶ ἐξεπορεύετο κατὰ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ποταμὸς πυρός, χίλιαι χιλιάδες ἐθεράπευον αὐτὸν καὶ μύριαι μυριάδες παρειστήκεισαν αὐτῷ· καὶ κριτήριον ἐκάθισε καὶ βίβλοι ἠνεῴχθησαν.
a river of fire flowed out from before him; thousands upon thousands served him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him; the ⓘ sat in session and the ⓘ were opened. The heavenly court appears as the ⓘ.

חזה הוית באדין מן קל מליא רברבתא די קרנא ממללה חזה הוית עד די קטילת חיותא והובד גשמה ויהיבת ליקדת אשא
ἐθεώρουν τότε τὴν φωνὴν τῶν λόγων τῶν μεγάλων, ὧν τὸ κέρας ἐλάλει, καὶ ἀπετυμπανίσθη τὸ θηρίον, καὶ ἀπώλετο τὸ σῶμα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐδόθη εἰς καῦσιν πυρός.
I watched then, because of the sound of the arrogant words the horn was speaking; I watched until the beast was killed and its body destroyed and given to be burned with fire.

ושאר חיותא העדיו שלטנהון וארכה בחיין יהיבת להון עד זמן ועדן
καὶ τοὺς κύκλῳ αὐτοῦ ἀπέστησε τῆς ἐξουσίας αὐτῶν, καὶ χρόνος ζωῆς ἐδόθη αὐτοῖς ἕως χρόνου καὶ καιροῦ.
As for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away, but their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

חזה הוית בחזוי ליליא וארו עם ענני שמיא כבר אנש אתה הוה ועד עתיק יומיא מטה וקדמוהי הקרבוהי
ἐθεώρουν ἐν ὁράματι τῆς νυκτὸς καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐπὶ τῶν νεφελῶν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ὡς υἱὸς ἀνθρώπου ἤρχετο, καὶ ὡς παλαιὸς ἡμερῶν παρῆν, καὶ οἱ παρεστηκότες παρῆσαν αὐτῷ.
I was watching in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came ⓘ; he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him;

ולה יהיב שלטן ויקר ומלכו וכל עממיא אמיא ולשניא לה יפלחון שלטנה שלטן עלם די לא יעדה ומלכותה די לא תתחבל
καὶ ἐδόθη αὐτῷ ἐξουσία, καὶ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τῆς γῆς κατὰ γένη καὶ πᾶσα δόξα αὐτῷ λατρεύουσα· καὶ ἡ ἐξουσία αὐτοῦ ἐξουσία αἰώνιος, ἥτις οὐ μὴ ἀρθῇ, καὶ ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ, ἥτις οὐ μὴ φθαρῇ. –
and to him were given ⓘ; all peoples, nations, and languages served him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.

אתכרית רוחי אנה דניאל בגוא נדנה וחזוי ראשי יבהלנני
καὶ ἀκηδιάσας ἐγὼ Δανιηλ ἐν τούτοις ἐν τῷ ὁράματι τῆς νυκτὸς
As for me, Daniyèl, my spirit was troubled within me, and the visions of my head alarmed me.

קרבת על חד מן קאמיא ויציבא אבעא מנה על כל דנה ואמר לי ופשר מליא יהודענני
προσῆλθον πρὸς ἕνα τῶν ἑστώτων καὶ τὴν ἀκρίβειαν ἐζήτουν παρ’ αὐτοῦ ὑπὲρ πάντων τούτων. ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ λέγει μοι καὶ τὴν κρίσιν τῶν λόγων ἐδήλωσέ μοι
I approached one of those who stood there and asked him the truth of all this; he told me and made known to me the interpretation of these things:

אלין חיותא רברבתא די אנין ארבע ארבעה מלכין יקומון מן ארעא
Ταῦτα τὰ θηρία τὰ μεγάλα εἰσὶ τέσσαρες βασιλεῖαι, αἳ ἀπολοῦνται ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς·
These four great beasts are four ⓘ who shall arise from the earth;
18
ויקבלון מלכותא קדישי עליונין ויחסנון מלכותא עד עלמא ועד עלם עלמיא
καὶ παραλήψονται τὴν βασιλείαν ἅγιοι ὑψίστου καὶ καθέξουσι τὴν βασιλείαν ἕως τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ ἕως τοῦ αἰῶνος τῶν αἰώνων.
but the ⓘ shall receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever, forever and ever.

אדין צבית ליצבא על חיותא רביעיתא די הות שניה מן כלהון כלהין דחילה יתירה שניה שנה די פרזל וטפריה די נחש אכלה מדקה ושארא ברגליה רפסה
τότε ἤθελον ἐξακριβάσασθαι περὶ τοῦ θηρίου τοῦ τετάρτου τοῦ διαφθείροντος πάντα καὶ ὑπερφόβου, καὶ ἰδοὺ οἱ ὀδόντες αὐτοῦ σιδηροῖ καὶ οἱ ὄνυχες αὐτοῦ χαλκοῖ κατεσθίοντες πάντας κυκλόθεν καὶ καταπατοῦντες τοῖς ποσί,
Then I desired to know the truth concerning the fourth beast, which was different from all the rest, exceedingly terrifying, with its iron teeth and bronze claws, which devoured and crushed and trampled the remainder with its feet;

ועל קרניא עשר די בראשה ואחרי די סלקת ונפלו ונפלה מן קדמיה קדמה תלת וקרנא דכן ועינין לה ופם ממלל רברבן וחזוה רב מן חברתה
καὶ περὶ τῶν δέκα κεράτων αὐτοῦ τῶν ἐπὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς καὶ τοῦ ἑνὸς τοῦ ἄλλου τοῦ προσφυέντος, καὶ ἐξέπεσαν δι’ αὐτοῦ τρία, καὶ τὸ κέρας ἐκεῖνο εἶχεν ὀφθαλμοὺς καὶ στόμα λαλοῦν μεγάλα, καὶ ἡ πρόσοψις αὐτοῦ ὑπερέφερε τὰ ἄλλα.
and concerning the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn that came up and before which three fell — the horn that had eyes and a mouth that spoke arrogant words, and that appeared greater than its companions.

חזה הוית וקרנא דכן עבדה קרב עם קדישין ויכלה להון
καὶ κατενόουν τὸ κέρας ἐκεῖνο πόλεμον συνιστάμενον πρὸς τοὺς ἁγίους καὶ τροπούμενον αὐτοὺς
I watched, and that same horn made war with the holy ones and prevailed over them,
22
עד די אתה עתיק יומיא ודינא יהב לקדישי עליונין וזמנא מטה ומלכותא החסנו קדישין
ἕως τοῦ ἐλθεῖν τὸν παλαιὸν ἡμερῶν, καὶ τὴν κρίσιν ἔδωκε τοῖς ἁγίοις τοῦ ὑψίστου, καὶ ὁ καιρὸς ἐδόθη καὶ τὸ βασίλειον κατέσχον οἱ ἅγιοι.
until the Ancient of Days came and judgment was given for the holy ones of the Most High, and the time arrived when the holy ones took possession of the kingdom.

כן אמר חיותא רביעיתא מלכו רביעיא רביעאה תהוא בארעא די תשנא מן כל מלכותא ותאכל כל ארעא ותדושנה ותדקנה
καὶ ἐρρέθη μοι περὶ τοῦ θηρίου τοῦ τετάρτου, ὅτι βασιλεία τετάρτη ἔσται ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ἥτις διοίσει παρὰ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν καὶ ἀναστατώσει αὐτὴν καὶ καταλεανεῖ αὐτήν.
He said thus: The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom on earth, different from all kingdoms; it shall devour the whole earth, trample it down, and crush it.

וקרניא עשר מנה מלכותה עשרה מלכין יקמון ואחרן יקום אחריהון והוא ישנא מן קדמיא ותלתה מלכין יהשפל
καὶ τὰ δέκα κέρατα τῆς βασιλείας, δέκα βασιλεῖς στήσονται, καὶ ὁ ἄλλος βασιλεὺς μετὰ τούτους στήσεται, καὶ αὐτὸς διοίσει κακοῖς ὑπὲρ τοὺς πρώτους καὶ τρεῖς βασιλεῖς ταπεινώσει·
As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings shall arise, and another shall arise after them; he shall be different from the former ones and shall put down three kings.
25
ומלין לצד עליא עלאה ימלל ולקדישי עליונין יבלא ויסבר להשניה זמנין ודת ויתיהבון בידה עד עדן ועדנין ופלג עדן
καὶ ῥήματα εἰς τὸν ὕψιστον λαλήσει καὶ τοὺς ἁγίους τοῦ ὑψίστου κατατρίψει καὶ προσδέξεται ἀλλοιῶσαι καιροὺς καὶ νόμον, καὶ παραδοθήσεται πάντα εἰς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ ἕως καιροῦ καὶ καιρῶν καὶ ἕως ἡμίσους καιροῦ.
He shall speak words against the Most High, ⓘ the holy ones of the Most High, and shall attempt to ⓘ; and they shall be given into his hand for a ⓘ.
26
ודינא יתב ושלטנה יהעדון להשמדה ולהובדה עד סופא
καὶ ἡ κρίσις καθίσεται καὶ τὴν ἐξουσίαν ἀπολοῦσι καὶ βουλεύσονται μιᾶναι καὶ ἀπολέσαι ἕως τέλους.
But the court shall sit in judgment, and his dominion shall be taken away, to be consumed and destroyed to the end.
27
ומלכותה ושלטנא ורבותא די מלכות תחות כל שמיא יהיבת לעם קדישי עליונין מלכותה מלכות עלם וכל שלטניא לה יפלחון וישתמעון
καὶ τὴν βασιλείαν καὶ τὴν ἐξουσίαν καὶ τὴν μεγαλειότητα αὐτῶν καὶ τὴν ἀρχὴν πασῶν τῶν ὑπὸ τὸν οὐρανὸν βασιλειῶν ἔδωκε λαῷ ἁγίῳ ὑψίστου βασιλεῦσαι βασιλείαν αἰώνιον, καὶ πᾶσαι [αἱ] ἐξουσίαι αὐτῷ ὑποταγήσονται καὶ πειθαρχήσουσιν αὐτῷ.
The kingdom, the dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the holy ones of the Most High; his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
28
עד כה סופא די מלתא אנה דניאל שגיא רעיוני יבהלנני וזיוי ישתנון עלי ומלתא בלבי נטרת
ἕως καταστροφῆς τοῦ λόγου ἐγὼ Δανιηλ σφόδρα ἐκστάσει περιειχόμην, καὶ ἡ ἕξις μου διήνεγκεν ἐμοί, καὶ τὸ ῥῆμα ἐν καρδίᾳ μου ἐστήριξα.
Here is the end of the account. I, Daniyèl, was greatly alarmed by my thoughts, and my face grew pale, but I kept the matter in my heart.
