Οἱ δὲ κρατήσαντες τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἀπήγαγον πρὸς Καϊάφαν τὸν ἀρχιερέα, ὅπου οἱ γραμματεῖς καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι συνήχθησαν.
Quelli che avevano arrestato Gesù lo condussero dal sommo sacerdote Caifa, presso il quale si erano riuniti gli scribi e gli anziani.
Those who had arrested Jesus led him away to the high priest (kohen gadòl) ⓘ, where the scribes (soferim) and the elders (zeqenim) had assembled.

ὁ δὲ Πέτρος ἠκολούθει αὐτῷ ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἕως τῆς αὐλῆς τοῦ ἀρχιερέως, καὶ εἰσελθὼν ἔσω ἐκάθητο μετὰ τῶν ὑπηρετῶν ἰδεῖν τὸ τέλος.
Pietro intanto lo aveva seguito a distanza, fino al palazzo del sommo sacerdote; entrato, si era seduto tra i servi, per vedere come sarebbe andata a finire.
Peter, meanwhile, had followed him at a distance, as far as the ⓘ of the high priest; and going in, he had sat down among the ⓘ, to see how it would all end.

οἱ δὲ ἀρχιερεῖς ⸀καὶ τὸ συνέδριον ὅλον ἐζήτουν ψευδομαρτυρίαν κατὰ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ὅπως ⸂αὐτὸν θανατώσωσιν⸃,
I capi dei sacerdoti e tutto il sinedrio cercavano una falsa testimonianza contro Gesù, per metterlo a morte;
Now the chief priests (archiereis, the kohanim of the temple's highest rank) and the whole Sanhedrin (the council, the supreme tribunal of Jerusalem) ⓘ against Jesus, in order to put him to death;

καὶ οὐχ εὗρον ⸂πολλῶν προσελθόντων ψευδομαρτύρων. ὕστερον δὲ προσελθόντες δύο⸃
ma non la trovarono, sebbene si fossero presentati molti falsi testimoni. Finalmente se ne presentarono due,
and they found none, although many false witnesses came forward. At last two came forward,

εἶπαν· Οὗτος ἔφη· Δύναμαι καταλῦσαι τὸν ναὸν τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ διὰ τριῶν ἡμερῶν ⸀οἰκοδομῆσαι.
che affermarono: «Costui ha dichiarato: Posso distruggere il tempio di Dio e ricostruirlo in tre giorni».
who said: «This man declared: ⓘ».

καὶ ἀναστὰς ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Οὐδὲν ἀποκρίνῃ; τί οὗτοί σου καταμαρτυροῦσιν;
Il sommo sacerdote si alzò e gli disse: «Non rispondi nulla? Che cosa testimoniano costoro contro di te?».
And the high priest, standing up, said to him: «Do you make no answer? What is it that these men testify against you?».

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἐσιώπα. ⸀καὶ ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἐξορκίζω σε κατὰ τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ζῶντος ἵνα ἡμῖν εἴπῃς εἰ σὺ εἶ ὁ χριστὸς ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ.
Ma Gesù taceva. Allora il sommo sacerdote gli disse: «Ti scongiuro, per il Dio vivente, di dirci se sei tu il Cristo, il Figlio di Dio».
But Jesus ⓘ. And the high priest said to him: «ⓘ, to tell us whether you are the ⓘ».

λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Σὺ εἶπας· πλὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀπ’ ἄρτι ὄψεσθε τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου καθήμενον ἐκ δεξιῶν τῆς δυνάμεως καὶ ἐρχόμενον ἐπὶ τῶν νεφελῶν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ.
«Tu l'hai detto, gli rispose Gesù; anzi io vi dico: d'ora innanzi vedrete il Figlio dell'uomo seduto alla destra della Potenza e venire sulle nubi del cielo».
Jesus says to him: «ⓘ; moreover I say to you: from now on you will see the ⓘ ⓘ and coming on the clouds of heaven».

τότε ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς διέρρηξεν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ ⸀λέγων· Ἐβλασφήμησεν· τί ἔτι χρείαν ἔχομεν μαρτύρων; ἴδε νῦν ἠκούσατε τὴν ⸀βλασφημίαν·
Allora il sommo sacerdote si stracciò le vesti dicendo: «Ha bestemmiato! Perché abbiamo ancora bisogno di testimoni? Ecco, ora avete udito la bestemmia;
Then the high priest ⓘ saying: «He has ⓘ! Why do we still need witnesses? Behold, now you have heard the blasphemy;

τί ὑμῖν δοκεῖ; οἱ δὲ ἀποκριθέντες εἶπαν· Ἔνοχος θανάτου ἐστίν.
che ve ne pare?». E quelli risposero: «È reo di morte!».
what is your judgment?». And they answered: «ⓘ!».

τότε ἐνέπτυσαν εἰς τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκολάφισαν αὐτόν, οἱ δὲ ἐράπισαν
Allora gli sputarono in faccia e lo percossero; altri lo schiaffeggiarono,
Then they ⓘ and struck him; and others slapped him,

λέγοντες· Προφήτευσον ἡμῖν, χριστέ, τίς ἐστιν ὁ παίσας σε;
dicendo: «Fa' il profeta per noi, Cristo! Chi è che ti ha colpito?».
saying: «ⓘ! Who is it that struck you?».
