Orthodox ReadingHe set before themⓘ another parableⓘ, saying: «The Kingdom of Heavenⓘ was made like a man who sowedⓘ good seedⓘ in his field.

Greekἐν δὲ τῷ καθεύδειν τοὺς ἀνθρώπους ἦλθεν αὐτοῦ ὁ ἐχθρὸς καὶ ἐπέσπειρεν ζιζάνια ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ σίτου καὶ ἀπῆλθεν.
Orthodox ReadingBut, while the men were sleepingⓘ, his enemyⓘ came and oversowedⓘ darnelⓘ among the wheat, and went away.

Greekὅτε δὲ ἐβλάστησεν ὁ χόρτος καὶ καρπὸν ἐποίησεν, τότε ἐφάνη καὶ τὰ ζιζάνια.

Greekπροσελθόντες δὲ οἱ δοῦλοι τοῦ οἰκοδεσπότου εἶπον αὐτῷ· Κύριε, οὐχὶ καλὸν σπέρμα ἔσπειρας ἐν τῷ σῷ ἀγρῷ; πόθεν οὖν ἔχει ζιζάνια;
Orthodox ReadingThe servantsⓘ of the householderⓘ approached and said to him: «Lordⓘ, did you not sow good seed in your field? Whence then does it have the darnel?».

Greekὁ δὲ ἔφη αὐτοῖς· Ἐχθρὸς ἄνθρωπος τοῦτο ἐποίησεν. οἱ δὲ δοῦλοι αὐτῷ λέγουσιν· Θέλεις οὖν ἀπελθόντες συλλέξωμεν αὐτά;
Orthodox ReadingAnd he answered them: «An enemy manⓘ has done this». The servants say to him: «Do you want us, then, to go and gather itⓘ?».

Greekὁ δέ φησιν· Οὔ, μήποτε συλλέγοντες τὰ ζιζάνια ἐκριζώσητε ἅμα αὐτοῖς τὸν σῖτον.
Orthodox ReadingHe says: «No, lest, while gathering the darnelⓘ, you uprootⓘ the wheat along with it.

Greekἄφετε συναυξάνεσθαι ἀμφότερα ἕως τοῦ θερισμοῦ· καὶ ἐν καιρῷ τοῦ θερισμοῦ ἐρῶ τοῖς θερισταῖς· Συλλέξατε πρῶτον τὰ ζιζάνια καὶ δήσατε αὐτὰ εἰς δέσμας πρὸς τὸ κατακαῦσαι αὐτά, τὸν δὲ σῖτον συναγάγετε εἰς τὴν ἀποθήκην μου.
Orthodox ReadingLetⓘ both grow togetherⓘ until the harvestⓘ; and at the timeⓘ of the harvest I will say to the reapersⓘ: Gather firstⓘ the darnel and bind it in bundlesⓘ to burn itⓘ; but the wheat gather into my barnⓘ».
