Ἰδὼν δὲ τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ ὄρος· καὶ καθίσαντος αὐτοῦ προσῆλθαν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ·
Vedendo le folle, salì sul monte: si pose a sedere e si avvicinarono a lui i suoi discepoli.
Seeing the great crowds of the common people (am ha-aretz, the ordinary folk not affiliated with the ḥaverimⓘ), he went up on the mountainⓘ: he sat down and his disciples drew near (talmidim, the master's pupilsⓘ).

καὶ ἀνοίξας τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ ἐδίδασκεν αὐτοὺς λέγων·
Si mise a parlare e li ammaestrava dicendo:
And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:

Μακάριοι οἱ πτωχοὶ τῷ πνεύματι, ὅτι αὐτῶν ἐστιν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.
«Beati i poveri in spirito, perché di essi è il regno dei cieli.
«Blessed are the poor in spiritⓘ, for theirs is the kingdom of heavenⓘ.

μακάριοι οἱ πενθοῦντες, ὅτι αὐτοὶ παρακληθήσονται.
Beati quelli che sono nel pianto, perché saranno consolati.
Blessed are those who mournⓘ, for they shall be comfortedⓘ.

μακάριοι οἱ πραεῖς, ὅτι αὐτοὶ κληρονομήσουσι τὴν γῆν.
Beati i miti, perché avranno in eredità la terra.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earthⓘ.

μακάριοι οἱ πεινῶντες καὶ διψῶντες τὴν δικαιοσύνην, ὅτι αὐτοὶ χορτασθήσονται.
Beati quelli che hanno fame e sete della giustizia, perché saranno saziati.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousnessⓘ, for they shall be satisfied.

μακάριοι οἱ ἐλεήμονες, ὅτι αὐτοὶ ἐλεηθήσονται.
Beati i misericordiosi, perché troveranno misericordia.
Blessed are the mercifulⓘ, for they shall obtain mercy.

μακάριοι οἱ καθαροὶ τῇ καρδίᾳ, ὅτι αὐτοὶ τὸν θεὸν ὄψονται.
Beati i puri di cuore, perché vedranno Dio.
Blessed are the pure in heartⓘ, for they shall see God.

μακάριοι οἱ εἰρηνοποιοί, ὅτι αὐτοὶ υἱοὶ θεοῦ κληθήσονται.
Beati gli operatori di pace, perché saranno chiamati figli di Dio.
Blessed are the peacemakersⓘ, for they shall be called children of Godⓘ.

μακάριοι οἱ δεδιωγμένοι ἕνεκεν δικαιοσύνης, ὅτι αὐτῶν ἐστιν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.
Beati i perseguitati per la giustizia, perché di essi è il regno dei cieli.
Blessed are the persecutedⓘ for righteousness' sakeⓘ, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

μακάριοί ἐστε ὅταν ὀνειδίσωσιν ὑμᾶς καὶ διώξωσιν καὶ εἴπωσιν πᾶν ⸀πονηρὸν καθ’ ὑμῶν ψευδόμενοι ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ.
Beati voi quando vi insulteranno, vi perseguiteranno e, mentendo, diranno ogni sorta di male contro di voi per causa mia.
Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute youⓘ and utter, falsely, every kind of evil against you for my sake.

χαίρετε καὶ ἀγαλλιᾶσθε, ὅτι ὁ μισθὸς ὑμῶν πολὺς ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς· οὕτως γὰρ ἐδίωξαν τοὺς προφήτας τοὺς πρὸ ὑμῶν.
Rallegratevi ed esultate, perché grande è la vostra ricompensa nei cieli: così infatti hanno perseguitato i profeti prima di voi.»
Rejoice and be gladⓘ, for great is your rewardⓘ in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophetsⓘ who were before you.»
