Καὶ ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν οἱ μαθηταὶ λέγοντες· Τί οὖν οἱ γραμματεῖς λέγουσιν ὅτι Ἠλίαν δεῖ ἐλθεῖν πρῶτον;
Allora i discepoli gli domandarono: "Perché dunque gli scribi dicono che prima deve venire Elia?".
And his disciples disciplesⓘ questioned him, saying: «Why then do the scribes (soferim), the learned in the Torah scribesⓘ, say that Elijah must come first Elijahⓘ?».

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν· Ἠλίας μὲν ἔρχεται καὶ ἀποκαταστήσει πάντα·
Ed egli rispose: "Sì, verrà Elia e ristabilirà ogni cosa.
And he answered, saying: «Elijah, yes, comes and will restore all thingsⓘ.

λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι Ἠλίας ἤδη ἦλθεν, καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνωσαν αὐτὸν ἀλλὰ ἐποίησαν ἐν αὐτῷ ὅσα ἠθέλησαν· οὕτως καὶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου μέλλει πάσχειν ὑπ' αὐτῶν.
Ma io vi dico: Elia è già venuto e non l'hanno riconosciuto; anzi, hanno fatto di lui quello che hanno voluto. Così anche il Figlio dell'uomo dovrà soffrire per opera loro".
But I say to you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize himⓘ, but did to him whatever they wishedⓘ; so also the Son of Manⓘ is about to sufferⓘ at their handsⓘ».

τότε συνῆκαν οἱ μαθηταὶ ὅτι περὶ Ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς.
Allora i discepoli compresero che egli parlava loro di Giovanni il Battista.
Thenⓘ the disciples understoodⓘ that he had spoken to them concerning John the Baptistⓘ.
