25
Greekδιὰ τοῦτο λέγω ὑμῖν, μὴ μεριμνᾶτε τῇ ψυχῇ ὑμῶν, τί φάγητε καὶ τί πίητε· μηδὲ τῷ σώματι ὑμῶν, τί ἐνδύσησθε. οὐχὶ ἡ ψυχὴ πλεῖόν ἐστι τῆς τροφῆς, καὶ τὸ σῶμα τοῦ ἐνδύματος;
Orthodox ReadingTherefore I tell you: do not be anxious about your lifeⓘ, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will wear; is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
26
Greekἐμβλέψατε εἰς τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, ὅτι οὐ σπείρουσιν οὐδὲ θερίζουσιν, οὐδὲ συνάγουσιν εἰς ἀποθήκας. καὶ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ οὐράνιος τρέφει αὐτά· οὐχ ὑμεῖς μᾶλλον διαφέρετε αὐτῶν;
Orthodox ReadingLook atⓘ the birds of the skyⓘ: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Fatherⓘ feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
27
Greekτίς δὲ ἐξ ὑμῶν μεριμνῶν δύναται προσθεῖναι ἐπὶ τὴν ἡλικίαν αὐτοῦ πῆχυν ἕνα;
Orthodox ReadingWho of you, by being anxious, can add to his own statureⓘ a single cubit?
28
Orthodox ReadingAnd why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the liliesⓘ of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
29
Orthodox Readingyet I tell you that not even Solomonⓘ in all his glory was clothed like one of these.
30
Greekεἰ δὲ τὸν χόρτον τοῦ ἀγροῦ, σήμερον ὄντα, καὶ αὔριον εἰς κλίβανον βαλλόμενον, ὁ Θεὸς οὕτως ἀμφιέννυσιν, οὐ πολλῷ μᾶλλον ὑμᾶς, ὀλιγόπιστοι;
Orthodox ReadingIf, then, the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the ovenⓘ, God so clothes, will he not much more clothe you, you of little faith, you who lack trustⓘ?
31
Greekμὴ οὖν μεριμνήσητε, λέγοντες, Τί φάγωμεν, ἢ τί πίωμεν, ἢ τί περιβαλώμεθα;
Orthodox ReadingDo not be anxious, then, saying: What shall we eat? or: What shall we drink? or: What shall we wear?
32
Orthodox ReadingFor all these things the pagans (goyim)ⓘ anxiously seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33
Orthodox Reading**Seek first the Kingdom of Godⓘ and his righteousnessⓘ**, and all these things will be added to youⓘ.
34
Orthodox ReadingDo not be anxious, then, about tomorrowⓘ, for tomorrow will be anxious about itself; sufficient for the day is its own trouble — sufficient for the day is its own toilⓘ.
