Orthodox ReadingAnd the Pharisees (perushim) approached him, the observant ones perushimⓘ, to test himⓘ, and they said to him: «Is it lawfulⓘ for a man to repudiate his own wife for any causeⓘ?».

Greekὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν· Οὐκ ἀνέγνωτε ὅτι ὁ κτίσας ἀπ' ἀρχῆς ἄρσεν καὶ θῆλυ ἐποίησεν αὐτούς;

Greekκαὶ εἶπεν· Ἕνεκα τούτου καταλείψει ἄνθρωπος τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα καὶ κολληθήσεται τῇ γυναικὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔσονται οἱ δύο εἰς σάρκα μίαν.
