Καὶ εὐθέως ἠνάγκασεν τοὺς μαθητὰς ἐμβῆναι εἰς τὸ πλοῖον καὶ προάγειν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ πέραν, ἕως οὗ ἀπολύσῃ τοὺς ὄχλους.
Subito dopo costrinse i discepoli a salire sulla barca e a precederlo sull'altra riva, finché non avesse congedato la folla.
And at once he compelledⓘ the disciples disciplesⓘ to embark in the boat and to go before him to the other shore, while he dismissed the crowds of am ha-aretzⓘ (the common folk of the land).

καὶ ἀπολύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ ὄρος κατ' ἰδίαν προσεύξασθαι. ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης μόνος ἦν ἐκεῖ.
Congedata la folla, salì sul monte, in disparte, a pregare. Venuta la sera, egli se ne stava lassù, da solo.
And, having dismissed those crowds, he went up on the mountainⓘ apart to pray the tefillah (the fixed prayer of Israel) to prayⓘ; when evening had come, at the hour of the arvit (the evening prayer), he was there alone.

τὸ δὲ πλοῖον ἤδη σταδίους πολλοὺς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς ἀπεῖχεν, βασανιζόμενον ὑπὸ τῶν κυμάτων, ἦν γὰρ ἐναντίος ὁ ἄνεμος.
La barca intanto distava già molte miglia da terra ed era agitata dalle onde: il vento infatti era contrario.
The boat meanwhile was already far from the land many stadiaⓘ, buffetedⓘ by the waves, for the wind was contraryⓘ.

τετάρτῃ δὲ φυλακῇ τῆς νυκτὸς ἦλθεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς περιπατῶν ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν.
Sul finire della notte egli andò verso di loro camminando sul mare.
At the fourth watch (ashmoret), the last of the four watches of the Roman reckoning of the night fourth watchⓘ of the night he came toward them walking upon the seaⓘ.

οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ ἰδόντες αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τῆς θαλάσσης περιπατοῦντα ἐταράχθησαν λέγοντες ὅτι Φάντασμά ἐστιν, καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ φόβου ἔκραξαν.
Vedendolo camminare sul mare, i discepoli furono sconvolti e dissero: "È un fantasma!" e gridarono dalla paura.
The disciples disciplesⓘ, seeing him walk upon the sea, were troubledⓘ saying: «It is a ghostⓘ», and from fear they cried out.

εὐθὺς δὲ ἐλάλησεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς λέγων· Θαρσεῖτε, ἐγώ εἰμι· μὴ φοβεῖσθε.
Ma subito Gesù parlò loro dicendo: "Coraggio, sono io, non abbiate paura!".
At once Jesus spoke to them saying: «Take heart, I am — the ani hu (the revelation of the Name), the divine voice that makes itself heard (bat qol) I amⓘ divine voiceⓘ; do not be afraid».

ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ Πέτρος εἶπεν· Κύριε, εἰ σὺ εἶ, κέλευσόν με ἐλθεῖν πρός σε ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα.
Pietro allora gli rispose: "Signore, se sei tu, comandami di venire verso di te sulle acque".
Answering him, Peterⓘ said: «Lordⓘ, if it is you, command me to come to you upon the waters».

ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Ἐλθέ. καὶ καταβὰς ἀπὸ τοῦ πλοίου ὁ Πέτρος περιεπάτησεν ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα καὶ ἦλθεν πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν.
Ed egli disse: "Vieni!". Pietro scese dalla barca, si mise a camminare sulle acque e andò verso Gesù.
He said: «Come». And, having stepped down from the boat, Peter walked upon the waters and came toward Jesus.

βλέπων δὲ τὸν ἄνεμον ἰσχυρὸν ἐφοβήθη, καὶ ἀρξάμενος καταποντίζεσθαι ἔκραξεν λέγων· Κύριε, σῶσόν με.
Ma, vedendo che il vento era forte, s'impaurì e, cominciando ad affondare, gridò: "Signore, salvami!".
But, seeing the strong wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sinkⓘ, he cried out saying: «Lord, save meⓘ».

εὐθέως δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα ἐπελάβετο αὐτοῦ καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ· Ὀλιγόπιστε, εἰς τί ἐδίστασας;
E subito Gesù tese la mano, lo afferrò e gli disse: "Uomo di poca fede, perché hai dubitato?".
At once Jesus, having stretched out his hand, took hold of him and says to him: «You of little faithⓘ, why did you doubtⓘ?».

καὶ ἀναβάντων αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ πλοῖον ἐκόπασεν ὁ ἄνεμος.
Appena saliti sulla barca, il vento cessò.
And, when they had climbed into the boat, the wind ceasedⓘ.
33
οἱ δὲ ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ προσεκύνησαν αὐτῷ λέγοντες· Ἀληθῶς θεοῦ υἱὸς εἶ.
Quelli che erano sulla barca si prostrarono davanti a lui, dicendo: "Davvero tu sei Figlio di Dio!".
Those in the boat prostrated themselves in proskynesis (the adoration reserved to God alone) prostrated themselvesⓘ before him saying: «Truly you are Son of Godⓘ».
