GreekὉ δὲ Ἰησοῦς προσκαλεσάμενος τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ εἶπεν· Σπλαγχνίζομαι ἐπὶ τὸν ὄχλον, ὅτι ἤδη ἡμέραι τρεῖς προσμένουσίν μοι καὶ οὐκ ἔχουσιν τί φάγωσιν· καὶ ἀπολῦσαι αὐτοὺς νήστεις οὐ θέλω, μήποτε ἐκλυθῶσιν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ.
Orthodox ReadingAnd Jesus, having called to himselfⓘ his disciplesⓘ, said: «I feel compassionⓘ for the crowdⓘ, because already for three daysⓘ they remain with meⓘ and have nothing to eat; and to send them awayⓘ fasting, on an empty stomach not in cultic abstinenceⓘ I am unwilling, lest they faint along the wayⓘ».

Greekκαὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταί· Πόθεν ἡμῖν ἐν ἐρημίᾳ ἄρτοι τοσοῦτοι ὥστε χορτάσαι ὄχλον τοσοῦτον;
Orthodox ReadingAnd the disciples say to him: «Whence to usⓘ, in a deserted placeⓘ, loavesⓘ enough to satisfyⓘ so great a crowd?».

Greekκαὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Πόσους ἄρτους ἔχετε; οἱ δὲ εἶπον· Ἑπτά, καὶ ὀλίγα ἰχθύδια.
Orthodox ReadingAnd Jesus says to them: «How many loaves have you?». They said: «Seven, and a few little fishⓘ».

Greekἔλαβεν τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἄρτους καὶ τοὺς ἰχθύας καὶ εὐχαριστήσας ἔκλασεν καὶ ἐδίδου τοῖς μαθηταῖς, οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ τοῖς ὄχλοις.
Orthodox Readinghe tookⓘ the seven loaves and the fish and, having pronounced the berakhah (the blessing over the bread) having given thanksⓘ, he broke themⓘ and kept giving themⓘ to the disciples, and the disciples to the crowd.

Greekκαὶ ἔφαγον πάντες καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν, καὶ τὸ περισσεῦον τῶν κλασμάτων ἦραν ἑπτὰ σπυρίδας πλήρεις.
Orthodox ReadingAnd they all ate and were satisfiedⓘ, and they carried away the leftover of the piecesⓘ: seven basketsⓘ full.

Greekκαὶ ἀπολύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἐνέβη εἰς τὸ πλοῖον, καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς τὰ ὅρια Μαγαδάν.
Orthodox ReadingAnd having sent awayⓘ the crowd, he went up into the boatⓘ and came into the bordersⓘ of Magadanⓘ.
