GreekἌλλην παραβολὴν παρέθηκεν αὐτοῖς λέγων· Ὡμοιώθη ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν ἀνθρώπῳ ⸀σπείραντι καλὸν σπέρμα ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ αὐτοῦ.
Orthodox ReadingHe set before them another parableⓘ saying: «The Kingdom of Heavenⓘ is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.

Greekἐν δὲ τῷ καθεύδειν τοὺς ἀνθρώπους ἦλθεν αὐτοῦ ὁ ἐχθρὸς καὶ ⸀ἐπέσπειρεν ζιζάνια ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ σίτου καὶ ἀπῆλθεν.
Orthodox ReadingBut while everyone was sleeping, his enemyⓘ came, sowed darnelⓘ among the wheat and went away.

Greekὅτε δὲ ἐβλάστησεν ὁ χόρτος καὶ καρπὸν ἐποίησεν, τότε ἐφάνη καὶ τὰ ζιζάνια.
Orthodox ReadingWhen the stalk then grew and bore fruit, then the darnel also appeared.

Greekπροσελθόντες δὲ οἱ δοῦλοι τοῦ οἰκοδεσπότου εἶπον αὐτῷ· Κύριε, οὐχὶ καλὸν σπέρμα ⸀ἔσπειρας ἐν τῷ σῷ ἀγρῷ; πόθεν οὖν ἔχει ζιζάνια;
Orthodox ReadingThe servantsⓘ of the householderⓘ came to him and said to him: «Lord, did you not sow good seed in your field? Where then does the darnel come from?».

Greekὁ δὲ ἔφη αὐτοῖς· Ἐχθρὸς ἄνθρωπος τοῦτο ἐποίησεν. οἱ δὲ ⸂δοῦλοι αὐτῷ λέγουσιν⸃· Θέλεις οὖν ἀπελθόντες ⸀συλλέξωμεν αὐτά;
Orthodox ReadingAnd he answered them: «An enemy has done this!». And the servants said to him: «Do you want us to go and gather it?».

Greekὁ δέ ⸀φησιν· Οὔ, μήποτε συλλέγοντες τὰ ζιζάνια ἐκριζώσητε ἅμα αὐτοῖς τὸν σῖτον·
Orthodox Reading«No, he replied, lest in gathering the darnel you uproot the wheat along with it.

Greekἄφετε συναυξάνεσθαι ἀμφότερα ⸀μέχρι τοῦ θερισμοῦ· καὶ ἐν καιρῷ τοῦ θερισμοῦ ἐρῶ τοῖς θερισταῖς· Συλλέξατε πρῶτον τὰ ζιζάνια καὶ δήσατε αὐτὰ εἰς δέσμας πρὸς τὸ κατακαῦσαι αὐτά, τὸν δὲ σῖτον ⸀συναγάγετε εἰς τὴν ἀποθήκην μου.
Orthodox ReadingLet both grow together until the harvestⓘ; and at the time of the harvest I will tell the reapersⓘ: gather first the darnel and bind it in bundles to be burned; but the wheat gather into my barnⓘ».

Greekὃ μικρότερον μέν ἐστιν πάντων τῶν σπερμάτων, ὅταν δὲ αὐξηθῇ μεῖζον τῶν λαχάνων ἐστὶν καὶ γίνεται δένδρον, ὥστε ἐλθεῖν τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ κατασκηνοῦν ἐν τοῖς κλάδοις αὐτοῦ.
Orthodox ReadingIt is the smallest of all seeds, but once grown it is greater than the other garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the sky come to make their nest among its branches».

GreekἌλλην παραβολὴν ἐλάλησεν αὐτοῖς· Ὁμοία ἐστὶν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν ζύμῃ, ἣν λαβοῦσα γυνὴ ⸀ἐνέκρυψεν εἰς ἀλεύρου σάτα τρία ἕως οὗ ἐζυμώθη ὅλον.
Orthodox ReadingHe told them another parable: «The Kingdom of Heaven is like the leavenⓘ, which a womanⓘ took and mixed into three measures of flourⓘ, until all the dough was leavened».

GreekΤαῦτα πάντα ἐλάλησεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐν παραβολαῖς τοῖς ὄχλοις, καὶ χωρὶς παραβολῆς ⸀οὐδὲν ἐλάλει αὐτοῖς·

Greekὅπως πληρωθῇ τὸ ῥηθὲν διὰ τοῦ προφήτου λέγοντος· Ἀνοίξω ἐν παραβολαῖς τὸ στόμα μου, ἐρεύξομαι κεκρυμμένα ἀπὸ ⸀καταβολῆς.
