Καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος τὸν ὄχλον εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Ἀκούετε καὶ συνίετε·
Poi, riunita la folla, disse loro: "Ascoltate e comprendete bene!
And having called the crowd to himself he said to them: «Hear and understandⓘ:

οὐ τὸ εἰσερχόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον, ἀλλὰ τὸ ἐκπορευόμενον ἐκ τοῦ στόματος τοῦτο κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον.
Non ciò che entra nella bocca rende impuro l'uomo; ciò che esce dalla bocca, questo rende impuro l'uomo!".
not what enters the mouth, food subject to the kashrut (the dietary norms of the pure and the impure), renders impureⓘ the man according to the tum'ah, the Levitical ritual impurity — it is not food that determines this tum'ah, distinct from moral impurity — but what comes out of the mouth, this renders the man impure».

Τότε προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· Οἶδας ὅτι οἱ Φαρισαῖοι ἀκούσαντες τὸν λόγον ἐσκανδαλίσθησαν;
Allora i discepoli si avvicinarono per dirgli: "Sai che i farisei, a sentire questa parola, si sono scandalizzati?".
Then the disciplesⓘ approached and say to him: «Do you know that the Pharisees (perushim), the observant faction devoted to the oral Torah, having heard the word, were scandalizedⓘ?».

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν· Πᾶσα φυτεία ἣν οὐκ ἐφύτευσεν ὁ πατήρ μου ὁ οὐράνιος ἐκριζωθήσεται.
Ed egli rispose: "Ogni pianta, che non è stata piantata dal Padre mio celeste, verrà sradicata.
He answered: «Every plantⓘ that my heavenly Father did not plant will be uprootedⓘ — only the divine planting endures, not human traditions without root in the Torah».

ἄφετε αὐτούς· τυφλοί εἰσιν ὁδηγοὶ τυφλῶν· τυφλὸς δὲ τυφλὸν ἐὰν ὁδηγῇ, ἀμφότεροι εἰς βόθυνον πεσοῦνται.
Lasciateli stare! Sono ciechi e guide di ciechi. E quando un cieco guida un altro cieco, tutti e due cadranno in un fosso!".
Leave them be: they are blind guides of the blindⓘ; and if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into the pitⓘ».

Ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Πέτρος εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Φράσον ἡμῖν τὴν παραβολὴν ταύτην.
Pietro allora gli disse: "Spiegaci questa parabola".
Answering, Peter Kefaⓘ said to him: «Explain to us the mashalⓘ».

ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Ἀκμὴν καὶ ὑμεῖς ἀσύνετοί ἐστε;
Ed egli rispose: "Neanche voi siete ancora capaci di comprendere?
He said: «Are you too still without understandingⓘ?
17
οὐ νοεῖτε ὅτι πᾶν τὸ εἰσπορευόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα εἰς τὴν κοιλίαν χωρεῖ καὶ εἰς ἀφεδρῶνα ἐκβάλλεται;
Non capite che tutto ciò che entra nella bocca, passa nel ventre e viene gettato in una fogna?
Do you not grasp that everything that enters the mouth goes into the stomachⓘ and is expelled into the latrineⓘ?

τὰ δὲ ἐκπορευόμενα ἐκ τοῦ στόματος ἐκ τῆς καρδίας ἐξέρχεται, κἀκεῖνα κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον.
Invece ciò che esce dalla bocca proviene dal cuore. Questo rende impuro l'uomo.
But the things that come out of the mouth proceed from the heartⓘ, and these render the man impure:

ἐκ γὰρ τῆς καρδίας ἐξέρχονται διαλογισμοὶ πονηροί, φόνοι, μοιχεῖαι, πορνεῖαι, κλοπαί, ψευδομαρτυρίαι, βλασφημίαι.
Dal cuore, infatti, provengono propositi malvagi, omicidi, adultèri, impurità, furti, false testimonianze, calunnie.
for from there come out evil reasoningsⓘ, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false testimonies, blasphemiesⓘ.

ταῦτά ἐστιν τὰ κοινοῦντα τὸν ἄνθρωπον, τὸ δὲ ἀνίπτοις χερσὶν φαγεῖν οὐ κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον.
Queste sono le cose che rendono impuro l'uomo; ma il mangiare senza lavarsi le mani non rende impuro l'uomo".
These are the things that render the man impure: but eating with unwashed hands, omitting the netilat yadayimⓘ, the ritual ablution of the hands, does not render the man impure».
